In this study,fractured tools which were used in a titanium alloys 5-axis milling process have been observed both in the macro scale using a PG-1000 light microscope and in the micro scale using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) respectively. These observations indicate that most of these tool fractures are the result of tool chipping. Further analysis of each chipping event has shown that beachmarks emanate from points on the cutting edge. This visual evidence indicates that the cutting edge is failing in fatigue due to cyclical mechanical and/or thermal stresses. Initial analyses explaining some of the outlying conditions for this phenomenon are discussed. Future analysis regarding determining the underlying causes of the fatigue phenomenon is then outlined.展开更多
To detect security vulnerabilities in a web application,the security analyst must choose the best performance Security Analysis Static Tool(SAST)in terms of discovering the greatest number of security vulnerabilities ...To detect security vulnerabilities in a web application,the security analyst must choose the best performance Security Analysis Static Tool(SAST)in terms of discovering the greatest number of security vulnerabilities as possible.To compare static analysis tools for web applications,an adapted benchmark to the vulnerability categories included in the known standard Open Web Application Security Project(OWASP)Top Ten project is required.The information of the security effectiveness of a commercial static analysis tool is not usually a publicly accessible research and the state of the art on static security tool analyzers shows that the different design and implementation of those tools has different effectiveness rates in terms of security performance.Given the significant cost of commercial tools,this paper studies the performance of seven static tools using a new methodology proposal and a new benchmark designed for vulnerability categories included in the known standard OWASP Top Ten project.Thus,the practitioners will have more precise information to select the best tool using a benchmark adapted to the last versions of OWASP Top Ten project.The results of this work have been obtaining using widely acceptable metrics to classify them according to three different degree of web application criticality.展开更多
The effects of the nonuniform cutting force and elastic recovery of processed materials in ultra-precision machining are too complex to be treated using traditional cutting theories,and it is necessary to take account...The effects of the nonuniform cutting force and elastic recovery of processed materials in ultra-precision machining are too complex to be treated using traditional cutting theories,and it is necessary to take account of factors such as size effects,the undeformed cutting thickness,the tool blunt radius,and the tool rake angle.Therefore,this paper proposes a new theoretical calculation model for accurately predicting the cutting force in ultra-precision machining,taking account of such factors.The model is first used to analyze the material deformation of the workpiece and the cutting force distribution along the cutting edge of a diamond tool.The size of the strain zone in different cutting deformation zones is then determined by using the distribution of strain work per unit volume and considering the characteristics of the stress distribution in these different deformation zones.Finally,the cutting force during ultra-precision machining is predicted precisely by calculating the material strain energy in different zones.A finite element analysis and experimental data on ultra-precision cutting of copper and aluminum are used to verify the predictions of the theoretical model.The results show that the error in the cutting force between the calculation results and predictions of the model is less than 14%.The effects of the rake face stress distribution of the diamond tool,the close contact zone,and material elastic recovery can be fully taken into account by the theoretical model.Thus,the proposed theoretical calculation method can effectively predict the cutting force in ultra-precision machining.展开更多

Increasing the e...Software is an important part of automotive product development, and it is commonly known that software quality assurance consumes considerable effort in safety-critical embedded software development. Increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of this effort thus becomes more and more important. Identifying problematic code areas which are most likely to fail and therefore require most of the quality assurance attention is required. This article presents an exploratory study investigating whether the faults detected by static analysis tools combined with code complexity metrics can be used as software quality indicators and to build pre-release fault prediction models. The combination of code complexity metrics with static analysis fault density was used to predict the pre-release fault density with an accuracy of 78.3%. This combination was also used to separate high and low quality components with a classification accuracy of 79%.展开更多

Based on ANSYS Workbench 3D modeling, we carried on finite element analysis to tool, and used the method of goal driven optimization to optimize the rotary tool. The optimization proves that the optimized maximum equivalent stress is 544.14 MPa, the quality is less, and the optimized rotary tool size is more reasonable. The characteristics of high speed machining (HSM) dynamic millin...In this paper, a series of experiments were performed by high speed milling of Ti-6.5Al-2Zr-1Mo-1V (TA15) by use of polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tools. The characteristics of high speed machining (HSM) dynamic milling forces were investi- gated. The effects of the parameters of the process, i.e., cutting speed, feed per tooth, and depth of axial cut, on cutting forces were studied. The cutting force signals under different cutting speed conditions and different cutting tool wear stages were analyzed by frequency spectrum analysis. The trend and frequency domain aspects of the dynamic forces were evaluated and discussed. The results indicate that a characteristic frequency in cutting force power spectrum does in fact exist. The amplitudes increase with the increase of cutting speed and tool wear level, which could be applied to the monitoring of the cutting process.展开更多
