This paper deals with an integration of directly measured electrical parameters with data acquired by data communication from protections and terminals into an advanced monitoring system. Based on the periodic test, the authors of this paper present the possibility of an extended evaluation and more accurate analysis of transient and failure events. For periodical testing, as implemented during the commissioning of power plants in the Czech Republic, a monitoring system of electrical equipment has been used, to record the courses of important electrical parameters and thus, proving the proper functioning of complex technological systems in various operation modes. Data from monitoring system were used to prove the successful results of the test or as a base data for further analysis of failures. The monitoring system has proved itself as a very useful device also when recording unexpected failure events, the cause of which was very quickly and accurately detected by the follow-up analysis. Initially, only the voltage and current data from measuring transformers, analogue transducers and contact relays were used as input data for the monitoring system. After the implementation of new digital protection technology and controlling terminals with inner data recorder, the data from digital devices could be also utilized for the monitoring system. 展开更多

Vehicular data misuse may lead to traffic accidents and even loss of life,so it is crucial to achieve secure vehicular data communications.This paper focuses on secure vehicular data communications in the Named Data Networking(NDN).In NDN,names,provider IDs and data are transmitted in plaintext,which exposes vehicular data to security threats and leads to considerable data communication costs and failure rates.This paper proposes a Secure vehicular Data Communication(SDC)approach in NDN to supress data communication costs and failure rates.SCD constructs a vehicular backbone to reduce the number of authenticated nodes involved in reverse paths.Only the ciphtertext of the name and data is included in the signed Interest and Data and transmitted along the backbone,so the secure data communications are achieved.SCD is evaluated,and the data results demonstrate that SCD achieves the above objectives. 展开更多

The current IPv4 protocol occupies a dominant position; therefore, the challenges of the evolution to IPv6 and network security are faced by data communication systems of the smart distribution grid. The importance of data communications network and its main bearer of business were described. The data communications network from IPv4 to IPv6 evolution of the five processes and four stages of the transition were analyzed. The smart distribution grid data communications network security and types of their offensive and defensive were discussed. And the data communications network security architecture was established. It covers three dimensions, the security level, the communications network security engineering and the communications network security management. The major constraint on the performance of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based underwater acoustic (UWA) communication is to keep subcarriers orthogonal. In this paper, Doppler estimation and the respective compensation technique along with various diversity techniques were deliberated for OFDM-based systems best suited for underwater wireless information exchange. In practice, for mobile communication, adjustment and tuning of transducers in order to get spatial diversity is extremely difficult. Considering the relatively low coherence bandwidth in UWA, the frequency diversity design with the Doppler compensation function was elaborated here. The outfield experiments of mobile underwater acoustic communication (UWAC) based on OFDM were carried out with 0.17 bit/(s-Hz) spectral efficiency. An expendable conductivity-temperature-depth profiler(XCTD)is one of the most important instruments used to obtain hydrological data,such as temperature and conductivity,and detect ocean depth in a large area.However,the XCTD channel provides poor time-varying performance,narrowband,and low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR),which severely restricts the data transmission rate.In contrast to conventional single-carrier modulation techniques,such as amplitude-shift keying and differential phase-shift keying,this article provides a new method,based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM)to enhance the data transmission rate of deep-sea abandoned profilers.We apply the OFDM to enhance the SNR of the XCTD,which is achieved by reducing the data transmission rate of each sub-channel.Moreover,the bandwidth utilization may be improved by increasing the number of subcarriers in a given bandwidth,which enhances the data transmission rate.Based on analysis of the XCTD channel model,OFDM with different parameters such as constellation mapping,number of subcarriers,subcarrier spacing,signal period and cyclic prefix are achieved.To verify the effectiveness of the OFDM,this study investigates the influence of different parameters on the data transmission rate at different noise levels,i.e.,-20 dB and-40 d B. 展开更多

The extremely limited bandwidth in underwater acoustic communication makes channel estimation using fewer pilot symbols more challenging. Iterative channel estimation( ICE) can be used to refine channel estimation with limited number of pilots,by coupling the channel estimator with channel decoder. In this paper,various feedback strategies in ICE are discussed. The performance of a decision feedback based on the cost function is improved by modifying the design and another four feedback strategies are summarized,including hard/soft decision feedback and their threshold-controlled versions. Simulation results show that ICE can achieve impressive gains over the non-iterative receiver and the gains are more significant with fewer pilots. Furthermore,soft decision feedback outperforms hard decision feedback; while the feedback based on the cost function and soft decision feedback have quite close performance. 展开更多

The fourth-generation(4G)and fifth-generation(5G)wireless communication systems use the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM)modulation techniques and subcarrier allocations.The OFDM modulator and demodulator have inverse fast Fourier transform(IFFT)and fast Fourier transform(FFT)respectively.The biggest challenge in IFFT/FFT processor is the computation of imaginary and real values.CORDIC has been proved one of the best rotation algorithms for logarithmic,trigonometric,and complex calculations.The proposed work focuses on the OFDM transceiver hardware chip implementation,in which 8-point to 1024-point IFFT and FFT are used to compute the operations in transmitter and receiver respectively.The coordinate rotation digital computer(CORDIC)algorithm has read-only memory(ROM)-based architecture to store FFT twiddle factors and their angle generators.The address generation unit is required to fetch the data and write the results into the memory in the appropriate sequence.CORDIC provides low memory,delay,and optimized hardware on the field-programmable gate array(FPGA)in comparison to normal FFT architecture for the OFDM system.The comparative performance of the FFT and CORDICFFT based OFDM transceiver chip is estimated using FPGA parameters:slices,flip-flops,lookup table(LUTs),frequency,power,and delay.The design is developed using integrated synthesis environment(ISE)Xilinx version 14.7 software,synthesized using very-high-speed integrated circuit hardware description language(VHDL),and tested on Virtex-5 FPGA. 展开更多

Since there is no standard PLC channel model available, a widely accepted multipath channel model is used for simulation purpose. Power line communication(PLC)has the potential to become the preferred technique for providing broadband communication to homes and offices with advantage of eliminating the need for new wiring infrastructure and reducing the cost.But it suffers from the impulsive noise because it introduces significant time variance into the power line channel.In this paper,a polar codes based orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM)PLC system is proposed to deal with the impulsive noise and thereby improve the transmission performance.Firstly,the impulsive noise is modelled with a multi-damped sine function by analyzing the time behavior of impulse events.Then the polar codes are used to combat the impulsive noise of PLC channel,and a low complexity bit-flipping decoding method based on CRC-aided successive cancellation list(CA-SCL)decoding algorithm is proposed.Simulations evaluate the proposed decoding algorithm and the results validate the suggested polar codes based OFDM-PLC scheme which can improve the BER performance of PLC with impulsive interference. 展开更多

Visible light communications(VLC) have recently attracted a growing interest and can be a potential solution to realize indoor positioning,however,the performance of existing indoor positioning system is limited by multipath distortion inside a room.In order to combat the effect of multipath distortion,this paper proposes an LED-based indoor positioning algorithm combined with hybrid OFDM(HOFDM),in which asymmetrically clipped optical OFDM(ACOOFDM) is transmitted on the odd subcarriers while using pulse amplitude modulated discrete multitone(PAM-DMT) to modulate the imaginary part of each even subcarrier.In this scheme,we take a combined approach where a received-signal-strength(RSS) technique is employed to determine the location of the receiver and realize the 3-D positioning by Trust-region-based positioning.Moreover,a particle filter is used to further improve the positioning accuracy.Results confirm that this proposed positioning algorithm can achieve high accuracy even with multipath distortion,and the algorithm has better performance when combined with particle filter. 展开更多

And the problem of node energy consuming is the key technology to maintain the energy balance among all nodes. To ensure energy efficiency of some special nodes and obtain a longer lifetime of the underwater cooperative network, this paper focuses on adopting precoding strategy to preprocess the signal at the transmitter and simplify the receiver structure. Meanwhile, it takes into account the presence of Doppler shifts and long feedback transmission delay in an underwater acoustic communication system. Precoding technique is applied based on channel prediction to realize energy saving and improve system performance. Different precoding methods are compared. Simulated results and experimental results show that the proposed scheme has a better performance, and it can provide a simple receiver and realize energy saving for some special nodes in a cooperative communication. 展开更多

This paper describes a crest factor reduction (CFR) method that reduces peaks in the time domain by modifying selected data subcarriers within an OFDM signal. The data subcarriers selected for modification vary with each symbol interval and are limited to those subcarriers whose aata elements are mapped onto the outer boundary of the constellation. In the proposed method, a set of peaks are identified within an OFDM symbol interval. Data subcarriers whose data element has a positive or negative correlation with the set peak are selected. For a subcarrier with an outer element and a significant positive correlation, a bit error (reversal) is intentionally introduced. This moves the data element to the opposite side of the constellation. Outer elements on negatively-correlatea subcarriers are increased in magnitude along the real or imaginary axis. Experimental results show that selecting the correct subcarriers for bit reversals and outward enhancements reduces the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of the OFDM signal to a target value and limits in-band degradation measured by bit error rate (BER) and error vector magnitude (EVM). 展开更多
