Herein, PTEN-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1)-Parkin pathway and mitophagy were studied to explore the machinery of mitochondrial impairment. Methods: 16 male SD rats were randomly divided in the control group and spleen qi deficiency group (model group);transmission electron microscope was used to observe mitochondrial morphology;mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation was assessed by testing mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) and levels of ATP and ROS;western blot was used to analyze expressions of PINK1, Parkin, microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3-II (LC3-II) and p62. Results: Compared with those in the control group, mitochondria became small, less and scattered, MMP and the ATP level were reduced, the ROS level was elevated, PINK1 expression was decreased, p62 expression was increased, but Parkin and LC3-II expressions were not altered, in the model group. Conclusions: Suppression of mitophagy might be related to the mitochondrial damage in the skeletal muscle when spleen qi deficiency develops.展开更多

文摘Objective:To investigate the frequency of deficiency of spleen qi (DSQ) in persons with Parkinson disease (PD) as well as the correlation between DSQ and PD.Methods:This study comprised three parts:determining the frequency of DSQ in participants with PD;comparing the frequency of DSQin PD and non-PD participants;and monitoring DSQ in participants with PD for 24 weeks.Outcome measurements were a modified DSQ scale and the Chinese version of the Parkinson Disease Questionnaire 39 (C-PDQ39).Results:A total of 187 participants with PD (mean ages 69.9 ± 9.6 years) completed the assessment in Part 1.Of these,170 (90.9%) were diagnosed as having DSQ.Thirty non-PD participants (mean ages 66.6 ± 10.2 years) completed the assessment in Part 2.Of these 11 (36.7%) were diagnosed as having DSQ.Positive correlations between total DSQ score and Hoehn-and-Yahr (H&Y) stage (correlation 0.316;P <.001),as well as between DSQ and total C-PDQ39 score (correlation 0.572;P <.001),were observed. For Part 3,47 participants from Part 1 were observed for 24 weeks.Variation in DSQ symptoms was noted, but all participants developed DSQ by the end of the study. Conclusions:DSQ is 2.5 times higher in PD participants than in the non-PD participants.More PD participants had DSQ in the advanced H&Y stages.A larger study is needed to validate these results on the prevalence of DSQ in persons with PD.
文摘Objective: Mitochondrial impairment in the skeletal muscle contributes to useless of limbs in spleen qi deficiency;however the genesis of such impairment is not clear. Conclusions: Suppression of mitophagy might be related to the mitochondrial damage in the skeletal muscle when spleen qi deficiency develops.
文摘The pathogenesis of malignant tumors is the deficiency of vital Qi and the excess of pathogenic Qi.Its basic treating principle is to strengthen vital Qi to eliminate pathogenic factor. The paper is to summarize the clinical experiences in tumor treatment of Dr.Chen Shizhou,a well-known traditional Chinese medicine expert in Weifang City,Shandong Province. He put forward the treatment method of"replenishing Qi and nourishing blood, detoxicating and resolving masses",paying attention to protecting stomach qi and advocating survival with tumor, with remarkable clinical effects.
文摘According to the original works of an ancient Chinese medicine book"Treatise on Spleen and Stomach"(Detailed Analysis of Spleen and Stomach Diseases;1249 C.E.)written by Li Dongyuan(1180-1251 C.E),and related explanations of later physicians, the efficacy and application of Ginseng(Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma)in related prescriptions were investigated from the aspects of dosage, usage and treatment methods.Ginseng appeared in 27 named prescriptions, including 20 decoctions,4 pill and 3 powder. In terms of dosage and usage, the common dosage of Ginseng is five points, mainly decoction. Most of the processing methods are"Fuju"(Bite up the medicine with your mouth so it can be taken.)and decoction with water. In terms of treatment methods,Ginseng is used in the sweet temperature and heat removing method and Nourishes Qi and Eliminates Evils Method(build your body to cure disease)in Li Dongyuan's"Treatise on Spleen and Stomach".Explaining Sweet Temperature Heat Removal Method(Use sweet and warm medicines to treat Qi-deficiency fever or Blood-deficiency fever;there are many reasons for fever, and cold and cooling medicines with heat-clearing effect are generally used for treatment.Use bitter cold medicine,so as not to consume the body's Yang.)takes Buzhong Yiqi Decoction(BYD)as an example, and explaining the Nourishes Qi and Eliminates Evils Method takes Mahuang-renshen-shaoyao decoction as an example. At the same time,"Treatise on Spleen and Stomach"matured in the Jin and Yuan Dynasties(1115-1368 C.E.).Its system of weights and measures, terminology and medical theory are quite different from those of modern Chinese medicine. Therefore, when researching the dosage, usage and treatment methods of Ginseng,we will explore the controversial points, and explain them by using modern Chinese medicine theory,so as to guide the clinical medication more accurately.
文摘The spleen-qi deficiency syndrome can beinduced by many factors. It is generally characterizedby a decreased food-intake,abdominal distention, watery or loose stool, general lassitude, pale tongueproper, and weak pulse. In recent years when workingin the Mediterranean TCM Center in Malta, the authorhad treated 27 such cases by applying the heat-
文摘Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of spleen-invigorating and qi-benefiting pediatric massage(tuina)for treating recurrent respiratory tract infection in children with cerebral palsy due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung. Methods:A total of 70 children with cerebral palsy who suffered from recurrent respiratory tract infection due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung were randomized into an observation group and a control group by the random number table method, with 35 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with conventional rehabilitation training, while the observation group was given additional spleen-invigorating and qi-benefiting pediatric massage, and the control group additionally took oral Yu Ping Feng granule. The clinical efficacy was evaluated by the total effective rate, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptom score, and serum levels of immunoglobulin(Ig)A,IgM and IgG.Results:The difference in total effective rate between the two groups after treatment was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the TCM symptom scores in both groups decreased to varying degrees than those before treatment, and the intra-group differences were statistically significant(all P<0.01);the differences in the scores of various TCM symptoms between the two groups were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of IgA,IgM and IgG of the children in both groups increased to varying degrees, and the intra-group differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The between-group differences in the IgA,IgM and IgG levels after treatment were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion:Spleen-invigorating and qi-benefiting pediatric massage can effectively treat recurrent respiratory tract infection due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung in children with cerebral palsy, relieve the clinical symptoms and improve immune function, and thus is worthy of clinical promotion and application.

文摘Objective: To investigate the effects and mechanisms of Gong-tone music on the immunological function in rats with the Chinese medicine syndrome of Liver (Gan)-qi stagnation and Spleen (Pi)-qi deficiency (LSSD). Methods: Twenty five male Wistar rats of SPF grade were randomly divided into 5 groups: normal group, model group, Xiaoyao Powder (逍遥散) group, Gong-tone group and combined group (the combination of Gong-tone and Xiaoyao Powder), with 5 rats in each group. The rat model for the Chinese medicine syndrome of LSSD was induced by chronic bandage and irregular diet. The course of treatment was 21 days. After the treatment, the levels of serum gastrin and IgG were detected by enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA). Phagocytosis of macrophages was detected by the neutral red uptake assay and T cell proliferation was investigated by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Results: The serum gastrin, macrophage phagocytosis, IgG level and proliferation ability of T cells in the model group were significantly decreased compared with those in the normal group (P〈0.05). Compared with those in the model group, the serum levels of gastrin, macrophage phagocytosis, IgG level and proliferation ability of T cells in Gong-tone, Xiaoyao Powder, and combined groups were significantly increased (P〈0.05). The combined group was superior to either Gong-tone group or Xiaoyao Powder group. Conclusion: Gong-tone music may upregulate the immunological function and play a role in adjuvant therapy in the Chinese syndrome of LSSD.
文摘Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of moxibustion therapy plus Liu's pediatric massage(tuina)for children with recurrent respiratory tract infections due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung. Methods:A total of 60 children who met the inclusion criteria were divided into an observation group and a control group according to the visiting sequence, with 30 cases in each group.Children in the observation group were treated with moxibustion therapy plus Liu's pediatric massage, and those in the control group were treated with Liu's pediatric massage alone. The incidence of respiratory tract infections and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptoms score were observed and recorded in both groups before and after treatment. And the clinical efficacy was compared between the two groups・Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 93.3%,and that of the control group was 83.3%.The differenee between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the TCM symptoms score and total times of infections in both groups were all statistically different from those before treatment(all P<0.05).The differences in TCM symptoms score and infection frequency before and after treatment in the observation group were statistically different from those in the control group(both P<0.05).Conclusion:Moxibustion therapy plus Liu's pediatric massage has a better effect in improving the clinical symptoms and reducing the frequency of respiratory tract infections for children with recurrent respiratory tract infections due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung than the pediatric massage alone.
文摘Cancer-related anemia is a common complication in patients with a malignant tumor caused by the tumor itself or the tumor's treatment. It can seriously affect the quality of life of patients and even accelerate the progression of the tumor.Western medicine is often given a blood transfusion, erythropoietin, and iron agent in cancer-related anemia treatment, but there are also some problems such as increasing tumor-related mortality.Traditional Chinese medicine believes that cancer-related anemia's occurrence is related to the“Deficiency of Spleen and Kidney and Deficiency of Qi and Blood”,so clinical treatment is mainly to“Tonify Spleen and Kidney and Qi and Blood”.The combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine is useful in cancer-related anemia's treatment, which provides a new idea and method for cancer-related anemia's clinical treatment.
