Delivery routes for probiotics: Effects on broiler performance,intestinal morphology and gut microflora 被引量:2

Four delivery routes, via, feed, water, litter and oral gavage, were examined for their efficacy in delivering a novel probiotic of poultry origin, Lactobacillus johnsonii, to broilers. Seven treatments of 6 replicates each were allocated using 336 one-day-old Cobb broiler chicks. The treatments consisted of a basal diet with the probiotic candidate, L. johnsonii, added to the feed, and three treatments with L. johnsonii added to the drinking water, sprayed on the litter, or gavaged orally. In addition, a positive control treatment received the basal diet supplemented with zinc-bacitracin(Zn B, 50 mg/kg). The probiotic strain of L.johnsonii was detected in the ileum of the chicks for all four delivery routes. However, the addition of L.johnsonii as a probiotic candidate did not improve body weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion ratio of broiler chickens raised on litter during the 5-week experimental period regardless of the route of administration. The probiotic treatments, regardless of the routes of delivery, affected(P < 0.05) the pH of the caecal digesta and tended(P = 0.06) to affect the p H of the ileal digesta on d 7, but the effect disappeared as the birds grew older. All probiotic treatments reduced the number of Enterobacteria in the caeca on d 21, and tended(P < 0.054) to reduce it in the ileum and caeca on d 7 and in the ileum on d 21 compared with the controls. The probiotic also tended to increase the number of lactic acid bacteria and lactobacilli in the ileum and caeca on d 7, but this trend was not evident on d 21. The trend appeared most pronounced when the probiotic was delivered orally or via litter. The probiotic also decreased(P <0.05) the population of Clostridium perfringens rapidly from an early age to d 21 in the caeca, leading to a3-fold decrease in the number of C. perfringens between d 7 and 21. It also showed that the probiotic treatment presented the lowest number of C. perfringens in the caeca. Delivery of the probiotic through feed, water and litter increased(P <0.01) the weight of the pancreas on d 21, but the probiotic did not affect other morphometric parameters of the gut. Furthermore, the probiotic did not affect the p H and the concentrations of short chain fatty acids and lactic acid in either the ileum or caeca. 展开更多

In this study,we introduce an integrated schedule of order picking and delivery for instant delivery.Order picking,including order batching and picking sequencing,is scheduled online under real-time order arrival,which integrates order delivery by depicting order location dispersion in an online order picking strategy.Order delivery,including delivery person assignment and route planning,is modeled to minimize the total duration of order fulfillment by considering the influence of the order picking completion time.A rule-based online order picking strategy is established,and a customized ant colony optimization(ACO)algorithm is proposed to optimize order delivery.Experiments on 16 simulated instances of different scales demonstrate that our online order picking schedule considering order delivery outperforms existing approaches and that the customized ACO algorithm for order delivery is effective. 展开更多

Fresh agri-product emergency supply is crucial to secure the basic livelihood of residents at large-scale epidemic disease context. Considering the massive demand and limited transportation resources, this study integrates multi-item packaging and vehicle routing with split delivery to improve the emergency supply capacity. Firstly, three specific objectives of fresh agri-product emergency supply at large-scale epidemic disease context are formulated, i.e., average response time, infectious risk possibility and transportation resource utilization. Then, a multi-item packaging strategy is proposed to consolidate different categories of fresh agri-products according to the food cold chain temperatures.An optimization model integrating multi-item packaging and vehicle routing with split delivery is developed to jointly decide the optimal packaging scheduling, vehicle assignment and delivery routing. Next, an improved genetic algorithm based on solution features (IGA-SF) is designed to solve the integrated model with multiple decision variables. Finally,a case on fresh agri-product emergency supply of Huangpi District, Wuhan in the context of the Corona Virus Disease 2019(COVID-19) is carried out to illustrate the efficiency and feasibility of the proposed model. The numerical results of medium-to-largescale cases demonstrate that the proposed IGA-SF could save 23.91% CPU time and 37.80% iteration number on average than genetic algorithm. This study could satisfy different emergency scenario requirements flexibly, and provide scientific decision support for provincial and national governments on fresh agri-product emergency supply. 展开更多

Releasing the res... The vehicle routing problem(VRP) is a well-known combinatorial optimization issue in transportation and logistics network systems. There exist several limitations associated with the traditional VRP. Releasing the restricted conditions of traditional VRP has become a research focus in the past few decades. The vehicle routing problem with split deliveries and pickups(VRPSPDP) is particularly proposed to release the constraints on the visiting times per customer and vehicle capacity, that is, to allow the deliveries and pickups for each customer to be simultaneously split more than once. Few studies have focused on the VRPSPDP problem. In this paper we propose a two-stage heuristic method integrating the initial heuristic algorithm and hybrid heuristic algorithm to study the VRPSPDP problem. To validate the proposed algorithm, Solomon benchmark datasets and extended Solomon benchmark datasets were modified to compare with three other popular algorithms. A total of 18 datasets were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The computational results indicated that the proposed algorithm is superior to these three algorithms for VRPSPDP in terms of total travel cost and average loading rate. 展开更多
