Based on the field data and measurements, a multivariable stepwise regression model was established to analyze the effects of multiple environmental factors on the productivity of the forest ecosystems. This model was used to assess the volume and economic losses of these two forest ecosystems caused by acidic deposition. The result showed that, among the environmental factors, pH value of precipitation, soil depth, soil organic contents and slope are the dominant ones influencing the growth of masson pine forest. It was also shown that the acidic deposition has no clear relation to the growth of C.Campora forest, so development of such broad leaved forest is suitable in the area.展开更多
Coastal lagoon deposits provide evidence for the magnitude and frequency of past tropical cyclones prior to instrumental records and historical documentation.In the present study,we attempt to analyze the sedimentary ...Coastal lagoon deposits provide evidence for the magnitude and frequency of past tropical cyclones prior to instrumental records and historical documentation.In the present study,we attempt to analyze the sedimentary records containing typhoon information for the northern South China Sea region.For this purpose,sediment cores were collected from two coastal lagoons in the southeastern Hainan Island,and were analyzed in laboratory to derive the data sets about grain size,organic and inorganic carbon contents,and deposition rates.The grain size and organic-inorganic carbon data were used to formulate the proxies of typhoon events.The deposition rates,as calculated using the CRS 210 Pb method,are around 0.5 mm/a for both lagoons,on the basis of which an age model is established.Within the cores,sedimentary layers associated with 35 typhoon events have been identified.On such a basis,a 350 year history of local typhoon activities is reconstructed by incorporating the 210 Pb dating results,typhoon-induced sedimentation patterns and the historical documents.A comparison of the frequency of typhoon occurrence with the regional climate records indicates that the observed changes in tropical cyclone activity patterns,as revealed by the lagoon sedimentary records,may be related to El Ni?o,Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO),North Atlantic Oscillation(NAO),sunspot,and other potential climate drivers that affect the tropical cyclone variability.This study demonstrates that the sedimentary record of storms can be analyzed in combination with historical documents,to provide meaningful information on past storm activities and their long-term variability.展开更多

In this paper, the quantification theory I is used to calculate the forest volume loss caused by acid disposition in seven provinces of south China. The results showed that contribution rates of acid deposition to forest volume loss in seven provinces of south China vary from 24 5% to 37 91%; the volume loss rates range from 7% to 20%. Total volume losses per year are 1 0145×10 6 m 3, of which Zhejiang Province is the greatest, totalling 3 841×10 5 m 3, while Anhui Province is the least, amounting to 1 59×10 4 m 3.展开更多

In the EAST neutral beam injector, a water flow calorimetry (WFC) system is applied to measure the heat load on the electrode system of the ion source and the heat loading components of the beamline. Due to the heat loss in the return water pipe, there are some measuring errors for the current WFC system. In the present paper, latent track formation in yttrium iron garnet (YIG) produced by high energy Ar ions is briefly reported at first. Then, in the framework of thermal spike model, a phenomenological parameter descr...In the present paper, latent track formation in yttrium iron garnet (YIG) produced by high energy Ar ions is briefly reported at first. Then, in the framework of thermal spike model, a phenomenological parameter describing the effective energy transfer from excited electrons to lattice atoms, effective energy deposition Qeff, is deduced. Qeff is a function of ion velocity, electronic energy loss (Se) and mean free path λ of excited electrons in the matter, and is a time moderate term initialized by Waligorski’s function of spatial energy deposition of secondary electrons ejected by incident ions. Size of ion latent track is proportional to Qeff value. From Qeff obtained by use of realistic λ values, the sizes of latent tracks in SiO2, YIG, Ti and Zr produced by given swift heavy ion irradiations are deduced and com- pared with experimental results. It is found that, from the fits to experimental results, the best λ values for SiO2, YIG, Ti and Zr are (6±1), (8±2), (6.1±1.0) and (9.6±1.0) nm, respectively. Moreover, the relationship between experimental damage and Qeff is discussed.展开更多
