In this study,2~5 (five factors at two-level factorial design) design of experiment was applied to investigate a set of optimal machining parameters to achieve a minimum surface roughness value for Abies nordmanniana.Wood specimens were prepared using different values of spindle speed,feed rate,depth of cut,tool radius,and cutting directions.Average surface roughness (R_z) values were applied using a stylus.The objectives were to:(1)obtain the effective variables of wood surface roughness;(2) analyze which of these factors had an impact on variability in the CNC machining process;(3) evaluate the optimal cutting values within the range of different cutting levels of machining parameters.The results indicate that the design of experiment(DOE) based on the desirability function approach determined the optimal machining parameters successfully,leading to minimum R_a compared to the observed value.Minimum surface roughness values of tangential and radial cutting directions were 3.58 and 3.21 μm,respectively. 展开更多

Lipopeptides are currently re-emerging as an interesting subgroup in the peptide research field, having historical applications as antibacterial and antifungal agents and new potential applications as antiviral, antitumor, immune-modulating and cell-penetrating compounds. However, due to their specific structure, chromatographic analysis often requires special buffer systems or the use of trifluoroacetic acid, limiting mass spectrometry detection. Therefore, we used a traditional aqueous/acetonitrile based gradient system, containing 0.1% (m/v) formic acid, to separate four pharmaceutically relevant lipopeptides (polymyxin B1, caspofungin, daptomycin and gramicidin A1), which were selected based upon hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) and principal component analysis (PCA).In total, the performance of four different C18 columns, including one UPLC column, were evaluated using two parallel approaches. First, a Derringer desirability function was used, whereby six single and multiple chromatographic response values were rescaled into one overall D-value per column. Using this approach, the YMC Pack Pro C18 column was ranked as the best column for general MS-compatible lipopeptide separation. Secondly, the kinetic plot approach was used to compare the different columns at different flow rate ranges. As the optimal kinetic column performance is obtained at its maximal pressure, the length elongation factor λ(Pmax/Pexp) was used to transform the obtained experimental data (retention times and peak capacities) and construct kinetic performance limit (KPL) curves, allowing a direct visual and unbiased comparison of the selected columns, whereby the YMC Triart C18 UPLC and ACE C18 columns performed as best. Finally, differences in column performance and the (dis)advantages of both approaches are discussed. 展开更多

Optimization of the Impeller Geometry for an Automotive Torque Converter Using Response Surface Methodology and Desirability Function

Response surface methodology (RSM) based on desirability function approach (DFA) is applied to obtain an optimal design of the impeller geometry for an automotive torque converter. <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">The relative importance of six design parameters including impeller blade number, blade thickness, bias angle, scroll angle, inlet angle and exit angle is investigated using orthogonal design approach. </span></span></span></span><span><span><span style="font-family:""><span style="font-family:Verdana;">The impeller inlet angle, exit angle and bias angle </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">are found to exert the greatest influence on the overall performance of a torque converter, with two flow area factors being considered, namely 17% and 20%. Then, RSM together with central composite design (CCD) method is used to in-depth evaluate the interaction effect of the three key parameters on converter performance. The results demonstrate that </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">impeller exit angle has the strongest impact on peak efficiency</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">, with larger angles yielding the most favorable results. The stall torque ratio maximization is attainable with the increase of impeller bias angle and inlet angle together with smaller exit angle. In the end, </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">an optimized design for the impeller geometry is obtained with stall torque ratio and peak efficiency increased by 1.62% and 1.1%, respectively.</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> The new optimization method can be used as a reference for performance enhancement in the design process of impeller geometry for an automotive torque converter.</span></span></span></span> 展开更多

Tailings known as solid waste are generated by the mining industry.The development of tailings as wet shotcrete aggregates has significant economic and environmental benefits.The fine particle size of the tailings results in a large consumption of traditional cement as a cementitious material and insignificant improvement in strength.Therefore,a composite cementitious system of cement and solid waste resources(fly ash and slag powder)is explored for this study.In this paper,the response surface methodology(RSM)is used to optimize the experimental design and a multivariate nonlinear response model with cement,fly ash and slag powder contents as variables are constructed,which can investigate the effect of the composite cementitious system on the strength of tailing wet shotcrete(TWSC).In addition,the information entropy(IE)is introduced and combined with the RSM to evaluate the composite cementitious system.Finally,the desirability function(DF)combined with RSM is used to optimize the composite cementitious system.The results show that the response model constructed in this paper has R^(2)=0.96 and P-value<0.01(the test result of the model is P-value<0.01),which indicates that the model has high reliability.The higher the content of slag powder and cement in the composite cementitious system,the higher the strength and comprehensive score of the TWSC.There is a critical value of fly ash content,which makes the maximum cementation of the composite cementing system.The optimal mix proportion of the composite cementitious system is obtained based on RSM-DF,which leads to the strength of TWSC at different curing time to achieve the expected index. 展开更多

It takes into consideration several multi-nature criteria and constraints, including spatial constrains related to the permissible land uses in certain parts of the mined area. The methodology combines desirability functions and evolution searching algorithms for selection of the optimal reclamation scheme. Its application for the reclamation planning of the Amynteon lignite surface mine in Greece indicated that it handles effectively spatial and non-spatial constraints and incorporates easily the decision-makers preferences regarding the reclamation strategy in the optimization procedure. 展开更多

Craniosynostosis is a common congenital craniofacial deformity caused by premature ossification and closure of one or more cranial sutures.Craniosynostosis will not only affect the normal development of the skull,but also may cause a variety of complications,damage the nervous system,and cause long-term effects on the development of physical and mental health.Therefore,it is particularly important to provide new ideas for clinical treatment by studying the rehabilitation methods of craniosynostosis,and to improve the cure rate.To this end,this paper studies the early rehabilitation methods after craniosynostosis surgery and designs a comprehensive early rehabilitation process and corresponding comprehensive early rehabilitation measures after surgery.The comparative data also shows that after comprehensive early rehabilitation nursing measures,the duration of the postoperative swelling of sick children was reduced and the degree was significantly reduced,which alleviated the discomfort of sick children;and the time of sick children spent in ICU treatment and monitoring was reduced,and the separation time between sick children and their parents was shorten,is of great significance to the postoperative rehabilitation of craniosynostosis.In addition,the total cost of hospitalization was reduced accordingly,which greatly increased the satisfaction of patients. 展开更多

In this work,Fe3O4-Al2O3@CNFs nanocomposite was synthesised and used as a nanosorbent in the ultrasound-assisted dispersive magnetic solid phase extraction(UA-DMSPE)of 17-beta estradiol(E2)in wastewater samples.The quantification of E2 was achieved using high performance liquid chromatography coupled with diode array detector(HPLC-DAD).Various parameters affecting the efficiency of this sample preparation technique were optimised to achieve excellent sensitivity and high recoveries of E2.Response surface methodology was utilised for optimisation of these parameters.Using the optimised conditions,the linear dynamic range was achieved in the range of 0.1e1000 mgL^-1and the correlation coefficient was found to be 0.9981.The preconcentration factor,enrichment factor,limit of detection(LOD)and limit of quantification(LOQ)were 67,169,0.025 mgL^-1and 0.083 mg L1,respectively.The relative standard deviation(%RSD)for the intraday(n?10)and interday(n?5 working days)were 1.8%and 3.3%,respectively.The developed UA-DMSPE/HPLC-DAD method was applied for the preconcentration and determination of E2 in wastewater samples.The obtained results indicated that E2 was present in the wastewater samples. 展开更多

Effects of roller burnishing process parameters on surface roughness of A356/5%SiC composite using response surface methodology

In this study, a simple roller burnishing tool was made to operate burnishing processes on A356/5%SIC metal matrix composite fabricated by electromagnetic stir casting under different parameters. The effects of burnishing speed, burnishing force and number of burnishing passes on the surface roughness and tribological properties were measured. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) graphs of the machined surface with PCD (insert-10) tool and roller burnished surface with tungsten carbide (WC) roller were taken into consider- ation to observe the surface finish of metal matrix composites. The mechanical properties (tensile strength, hardness, duc- tility) of A356/5%SIC metal matrix composites were studied for both unburnished samples and burnished samples. The results revealed that the roller burnished samples of A356/ 5%SIC led to the improvement in tensile strength, hardness and ductility. In order to find out the effects of roller bur- nishing process parameters on the surface roughness of A356/ 5%SIC metal matrix composite, response surface methodol- ogy (RSM) (Box-Behnken design) was used and a prediction model was developed relevant to average surface roughness using experimental data. In the range of process parameters, the result shows that roller burnishing speed increases, and surface roughness decreases, but on the other hand roller burnishing force and number of passes increase, and surface roughness increases. Optimum values of burnishing speed (1.5 m/s), burnishing force (50 N) and number of passes (2) during roller burnishing of A356/5%SIC metal matrix com- posite to minimize the surface roughness (predicted 1.232 μm) have been found out. There was only 5.03% error in the experimental and modeled results of surface roughness. 展开更多
