The approach of estimating the number of signals based on information theoretic criteria has good performance in the assumption of white noise, but it always leads to false estimation of the coherent sources in colored noise. An approach combining the combined information theoretic criteria and eigen- value correction, is presented to determine number of signals. The method uses maximum likelihood (ML) and information theoretic criteria to estimate coherent signals alternately, then eliminate the inequality of the eigenvalues caused by colored noise by correcting the noise eigenvalues. The digital modeling and focusing process to wavelet transform of the reflecting seismic signals have been done. It has been found that the locations of singularities after wavelet transform are only affected by two factors, their original locations and the seismic wavelet length, which says it does not matter with what shape the wavelet will be. The wavelet length can be determined according to the wavelet transform results and be eliminated thereafter so that we are able to detect thin bed seismic signal with resolution of l/32 wavelength. The singularities have been recovered with improved resolution of the seismic section by real data processing. 展开更多

Based on the principle of chaos suppression with ntmrestmaat parametric drive, the trodel of detecting weak periodic signals in strong noise is Imilt. According to the parametric equivalent relationship obtained using averaging method and rmtmmlization method, the critical values of detection parameters are determined, which lead to a sudden change of system dynamical behavior from periodic orbit to stable equilibritma point. Sinmlation results show that weak periodic signals in strong noise can be detected acomately with the proposed system. The method can obtain aoawate rane of parameter threshold through tlxxtetical analysis, and the detection criterion is rather simple, which is more convenieat for automatic detection. 展开更多

The application scope of the forward scatter radar(FSR)based on the Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)can be expanded by improving the detection capability.Firstly,the forward-scatter signal model when the target crosses the baseline is constructed.Then,the detection method of the for-ward-scatter signal based on the Rényi entropy of time-fre-quency distribution is proposed and the detection performance with different time-frequency distributions is compared.Simula-tion results show that the method based on the smooth pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution(SPWVD)can achieve the best perfor-mance.Next,combined with the geometry of FSR,the influence on detection performance of the relative distance between the target and the baseline is analyzed.Finally,the proposed method is validated by the anechoic chamber measurements and the results show that the detection ability has a 10 dB improvement compared with the common constant false alarm rate(CFAR)detection. 展开更多

To improve the bit error rate(BER)performance of multi-user signal detection in satelliteterrestrial downlink non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA)systems,an iterative signal detection algorithm based on soft interference cancellation with optimal power allocation is proposed.Given that power allocation has a significant impact on BER performance,the optimal power allocation is obtained by minimizing the average BER of NOMA users.According to the allocated powers,successive interference cancellation(SIC)between NOMA users is performed in descending power order.For each user,an iterative soft interference cancellation is performed,and soft symbol probabilities are calculated for soft decision.To improve detection accuracy and without increasing the complexity,the aforementioned algorithm is optimized by adding minimum mean square error(MMSE)signal estimation before detection,and in each iteration soft symbol probabilities are utilized for soft-decision of the current user and also for the update of soft interference of the previous user.Simulation results illustrate that the optimized algorithm i.e.MMSE-IDBSIC significantly outperforms joint multi-user detection and SIC detection by 7.57dB and 8.03dB in terms of BER performance. 展开更多

Mercury ion(Hg^(2+)),a highly noxious of heavy metalion,has detrimental effects on the ecological environment and human health.Herein,we have developed an exonuclease III(Exo III)assisted catalytic hairpin assembly formation of a trivalent G-quadruplex/hemin DNAzyme for colorimetric detection of Hg^(2+).A hairpin DNA(Hr)was designed with thymine-Hg^(2+)-thymine pairs that catalyzed by Exo III is prompted to happen upon binding Hg^(2+).A released DNA fragment triggers the catalytic assembly of other three hairpins(H1,H2,and H3)to form many trivalent G-quadruplex/hemin DNA enzymes for signal output.The developed sensor shows a dynamic range from 2 pM to 2μM,with an impressively low detection limit of 0.32 pM for Hg^(2+)detection.Such a sensor also has good selectivity toward Hg^(2+)detection in the presence of other common metal ions.This strategy shows the great potential for visual detection with portable type. 展开更多

The reliability of the eddy current testing (ECT) in flaw detection is quantitatively evaluated by theprobability of detection (POD). Precise and efficient modeling of POD gives direction for the implement of ECTon sites to avoid false or missing flaw detection. Traditional POD analysis focuses on single uncertain factor orsingle response signal with limited credibility in engineering. This paper considers multiple response signals andmultiple flaw parameters to perform POD. The flaw length, the flaw depth, the coil impedance, and the magneticflux density are comprehensively studied under various lift-off distances. A finite element model (FEM) of ECT isestablished and verified with experiments to obtain sufficient simulation data for discrete POD modeling. Thecontinuous POD function is then fitted based on the discrete values to show the superiority of integrating multiplefactors. A comparison with conventional POD analysis further demonstrates the higher reliability of ECT flawdetection considering multiple flaw parameters and multiple response signals, especially for small flaws. 展开更多

Blind source separation and estimation of the number of sources usually demand that the number of sensors should be greater than or equal to that of the sources, which, however, is very difficult to satisfy for the complex systems. A new estimating method based on power spectral density (PSD) is presented. When the relation between the number of sensors and that of sources is unknown, the PSD matrix is first obtained by the ratio of PSD of the observation signals, and then the bound of the number of correlated sources with common frequencies can be estimated by comparing every column vector of PSD matrix. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by theoretical analysis and experiments, and the influence of noise on the estimation of number of source is simulated. 展开更多

The Radon-ambiguity transform (RAT), although efficient for detecting the linear frequency modulated signals (LFMs), is troubled by the energy accumulation of noise in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). A secondorder difference (SOD) method is proposed to treat with this problem. In the SOD method, the optimal search step and difference step are derived from the LFM rate resolution formula. The sharpness of the peaks of RAT is measured by curvature, and the sharpness, but not the magnitude of the peaks, is used to detect the LFMs. The SOD method removes the noise energy accumulation and reserves the drastically changing components integrally; thus, it improves the detection probability of LFMs in low SNR. The expected performance of the new method is verified by 100 Monte Carlo simulations. 展开更多

This paper proposes a desirable method to detect different kinds of low probability of intercept (LPI) radar signals, targeted at the main intra-pulse modulation method of LPI radar signals including the signals of linear frequency modulation, phase code, and frequency code. Firstly, it improves the coherent integration of LPI radar signals by adding the periodicity of the ambiguity function. Then, it develops a frequency domain detection method based on fast Fourier transform (FFT) and segmented autocorrelation function to detect signals without features of linear frequency modulation by virtue of the distribution characteristics of noise signals in the frequency domain. Finally, this paper gives a verification of the performance of the method for different signal-to-noise ratios by conducting simulation experiments, and compares the method with existing ones. Additionally, this method is characterized by the straightforward calculation and high real-time performance, which is conducive to better detecting all kinds of LPI radar signals. 展开更多

However, many examples, analyses and simulations indicate that chaotic oscillator detection system cannot guarantee the immunity to noises (even white noise). In fact the randomness of noises has a serious or even a destructive effect on the detection results in many cases. To solve this problem, we present a new detecting method based on wavelet threshold processing that can detect the chaotic weak signal accompanied with noise. All theoretical analyses and simulation experiments indicate that the new method reduces the noise interferences to detection significantly, thereby making the corresponding chaotic oscillator that detects the weak signals accompanied with noises more stable and reliable. 展开更多

The simulation results show that the performance of anti-noise of the new method is better than that of the incoherent demodulation method and the fluctuation of the carrier phase has little effect on the new method. As this is the first time a large volume airgun has been excited in the "Yangtse River Geoscience Project",it is necessary to study the time-frequency characteristic based on the linear stacked seismic data from records from portable stations near the fixed fields and seismic stations. Airgun signal propagation distances were detected using stacked seismic data to analyze the environmental impact on signal propagation distance. The results showed that:( 1) the airgun signal produced by bubble pulses,pressure pulses and the surface wave can be received by a portable station near the fixed field;( 2) the dominant frequency of a bubble at 5Hz or so can be received by both near-field stations and far-field stations,pressure pulses rapidly weaken and the dominant frequency bands get narrower as epicentral distance increases;( 3) the longest spread distance of signal is 260 km,the nearest is 180 km,and the signal can travel further in the evening. 展开更多

When acoustic method is used in leak detection for natural gas pipelines,the external interferences including operation of compressor and valve,pipeline knocking,etc.,should be distinguished with acoustic leakage signals to improve the accuracy and reduce false alarms.In this paper,the technologies of extracting characteristics of acoustic signals were summarized.The acoustic leakage signals and interfering signals were measured by experiments and the characteristics of time-domain,frequency-domain and time-frequency domain were extracted.The main characteristics of time-domain are mean value,root mean square value,kurtosis,skewness and correlation function,etc.The features in frequency domain were obtained by frequency spectrum analysis and power spectrum density,while time-frequency analysis was accomplished by short time Fourier transform.The results show that the external interferences can be removed effectively by the characteristics of time domain,frequency domain and time-frequency domain.It can be drawn that the acoustic leak detection method can be applied to natural gas pipelines and the characteristics can help reduce false alarms and missing alarms. 展开更多

Two novel tunable detectors are proposed. They can control the degree to which the mismatched signals are rejected. Remarkably, it is found that they both cover existing famous detectors as their special cases. More importantly, they possess the constant false alarm rate(CFAR)property and achieve enhanced mismatched signal rejection or improved robustness than their natural competitors. Detection of weak underwater signals is an area of general interest in marine engineering.A weak signal detection scheme was developed; it combined nonlinear dynamical reconstruction techniques, radial basis function (RBF) neural networks and an extended Kalman filter (EKF).In this method chaos theory was used to model background noise.Noise was predicted by phase space reconstruction techniques and RBF neural networks in a synergistic manner.In the absence of a signal, prediction error stayed low and became relatively large when the input contained a signal.EKF was used to improve the convergence rate of the RBF neural network.Application of the scheme to different experimental data sets showed that the algorithm can detect signals hidden in strong noise even when the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is less than -40d B. 展开更多
