Information on the dietary composition and food preferences of the giant jellyfish Nemopilema nomurai is important for understanding the trophic drivers of jellyfish outbreaks and their ecological consequences.We used...Information on the dietary composition and food preferences of the giant jellyfish Nemopilema nomurai is important for understanding the trophic drivers of jellyfish outbreaks and their ecological consequences.We used fatty acid(FA)and stable isotope(SI)biomarkers to analyze the diet of N.nomurai from the Yellow Sea in August 2016.N.nomurai was found at all sampling stations,with abundances ranging from 59 inds./km^(2) to 1651 inds./km^(2).There were no significant differences between large(>80 cm in diameter)and small(20–30 cm in diameter)medusae,either in FA compositions or in SI values,which suggests that large and small jellyfi sh have the same food composition and similar trophic levels.Compared to other zooplanktons,the relatively high levels of C20꞉4n-6 in total FAs(~12%)indicates that organic detritus contributes considerably to the food composition of the jellyfish.The mixed model Stable Isotope Analysis in R(SIAR)revealed that N.nomurai tended to prey on smaller organisms(<1000μm in diameter)which comprised about 70%of its diet.This means the N.nomurai blooms will put high feeding pressure on the small plankton.The similar SI values and FA composition indicates that krill may share the same food resources with N.nomurai,which suggests that the jellyfi sh blooms may affect krill populations as a result of food competition.展开更多
Objective: To identify the level of dietary adherence for particular foods and determine which are challenging for patients with diabetes in Indonesia, as well as the associated factors. Methods: This study was conduc...Objective: To identify the level of dietary adherence for particular foods and determine which are challenging for patients with diabetes in Indonesia, as well as the associated factors. Methods: This study was conducted in a primary health care facility, using a cross-sectional design. Diabetic patients who had received dietary education, agreed to par ticipate, and adult age were invited. All patients with type 1, gestational, and other types of diabetes who did not join regular meetings of Prolanis and were repor ted moving or dying were excluded. The data collection used demographic and perceived dietary adherence questionnaires(PDAQs). Moreover, the height, weight, and blood glucose level were recorded. Data were analyzed using Pearson, point biserial correlation, and one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA) tests. Results: The respondents were mostly female, married, and non-smoking with a mean age of 60.2 ± 8.48 years. Mean score for dietary adherence was 29.7 ± 8.85 with scores from the specific food groups between 0.72 ± 1.89 and 4.60 ± 2.30. The lower scores of adherence were identified on low-sugar foods, high-fiber foods, fish and foods with high omega-3, and olive/organic oils in cooking. Additionally, people living with diabetes for more than 10 years and not having any comorbidity showed a higher score of dietary adherence. Conclusions: There were 4 groups of foods that had a low score of adherence. Accordingly, health care providers working in primary health care should be concerned about those 4 food groups during diabetes education and counseling. Public health workers should make more effor ts to promote consumption of the healthy diet among patients with diabetes, par ticularly those who have had diabetes for less than 10 years and other comorbidities.展开更多

Notably, HA’s interactions with cell surface receptors contribute to the viscosity of synovial fluid, activate the immune system, and enhance cartilage elasticity. Beyond these established functions, HA has also been investigated for its potential involvement in determining and studying the hormetic effects of radon water, adding a novel dimension to its applications in dental research. A thorough exploration of existing studies reveals a nuanced understanding of how HA interventions impact the outcomes of dental procedures. The comprehensive scope of these investigations allows for a more accurate assessment of the potential effectiveness of specific interventions and provides valuable insights into post-procedural prognoses for individual patients.
