The polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)nanofiber web by electrospinning technology has the characteristics of fast response,high sensitivity,wide range of pressure,etc.,and provides new sensitive materials for the sensor te...The polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)nanofiber web by electrospinning technology has the characteristics of fast response,high sensitivity,wide range of pressure,etc.,and provides new sensitive materials for the sensor testing the dynamic pressure such as foot pressure during walking.Because of the nanofiber mesh structure,it must be packaged to collect piezoelectric charge and bear strong mechanical behavior before industrial practice.The PVDF nanofiber web is usually packaged by incorporating a pair of flexible electrode as well as the lead of signal output.This present work will introduce the detailed packaging process and technology of PVDF nanofiber web,and three different types of packaging electrode materials(adhesive copper foil tape,indium tin oxide(ITO)thin plate,and adhesive conductive cloth)in previously published literatures are compared by the piezoelectric response of their sensor prototypes to a periodic mechanical activation.The results showed that the surface property of packaging material had a significant effect on the piezoelectric response of sensor by PVDF nanofiber web.For PVDF nanofiber web sensor,therefore,it needed a deep investigation on the specific packaging technology in terms of different working conditions.展开更多
The development of wearable and portable electronics calls for flexible piezoelectric materials to fabricate selfpowered devices.However,a big challenge in piezoelectric material design is to boost the output performa...The development of wearable and portable electronics calls for flexible piezoelectric materials to fabricate selfpowered devices.However,a big challenge in piezoelectric material design is to boost the output performance while ensuring its flexibility and biocompatibility.Here,all-organic and core-shell structured silk fibroin(SF)/poly(vinylidene difluoride)(PVDF)piezoelectric nanofibers(NFs)with excellent flexibility are fabricated using a simple electrospinning strategy.The strong intermolecular interaction between SF and PVDF promotes theβ-phase nucleation in the core-shell structure,which significantly enhances the output performance.An output of 16.5 V was achieved in SF/PVDF NFs,which is more than 6-fold enhancement compared with that of pure PVDF NFs.In addition,the piezoelectric device can sensitively detect the mechanical stimulation from joint bending,demonstrating its great potential in self-powered sensor.Otherwise,the piezoelectric device can be also applied to control the movement of a smart car,successfully,achieving its application in the human-machine interaction.展开更多
One of the major problems limiting the applications of electric double-layer(EDLC)supercapacitor devices is their inability to maintain their cell voltage over a significant period.Self-discharge is a spontaneous deca...One of the major problems limiting the applications of electric double-layer(EDLC)supercapacitor devices is their inability to maintain their cell voltage over a significant period.Self-discharge is a spontaneous decay in charged energy,often resulting in fully depleted devices in a matter of hours.Here,a new method for suppressing this self-discharge phenomenon is proposed by using directionally polarized piezoelectric electrospun nanofiber films as separator materials.Tailored engineering of polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)nanofiber films containing a small concentration of sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)results in a high proportion of polarβphases,reaching 380.5%of the total material.Inducing polarity into the separator material provides a reverse-diode mechanism in the device,such that it drops from an initial voltage of 1.6 down to 1 V after 10 h,as opposed to 0.3 V with a nonpolarized,commercial separator material.Thus,the energy retained for the polarized separator is 37%and 4%for the nonpolarized separator,making supercapacitors a more attractive solution for long-term energy storage.展开更多
