In order to improve the consistency between the recommended retrieval results and user needs, improve the recommendation efficiency, and reduce the average absolute deviation of resource retrieval,a design method of intelligent recommendation retrieval model for Fujian intangible cultural heritage digital archive resources based on knowledge atlas is proposed. The TG-LDA(Tag-granularity LDA)model is proposed on the basis of the standard LDA(Linear Discriminant Analysis)model. The model is used to mine archive resource topics. The Pearson correlation coefficient is used to measure the relevance between topics.Based on the measurement results, the FastText deep learning model is used to achieve archive resource classification.According to the classification results,TF-IDF(term frequency–inverse document frequency)algorithm is used to calculate the weight of resource retrieval keywords to achieve resource retrieval, and a recommendation model of intangible cultural heritage digital archives resources is built through the knowledge map to achieve comprehensive and personalized recommendation of resources. The experimental results show that the recommendation and retrieval results of the proposed method are more in line with users’needs, can provide users with personalized digital archive resources, and the average absolute deviation of resource retrieval is low,the recommendation efficiency is high, and the utilization effect of archive resources is effectively improved. 展开更多

In research and policies, the identifcation of trends as well as emerging topics and topics in decline is an important source of information for both academic and innovation management.Since at present policy analysis mostly employs qualitative research methods, the following article presents and assesses diferent approaches–trend analysis based on questionnaires, quantitative bibliometric surveys, the use of computer-linguistic approaches and machine learning and qualitative investigations.Against this backdrop, this article examines digital applications in cultural heritage and,in particular, built heritage via various investigative frameworks to identify topics of relevance and trendlines, mainly for European Union(EU)-based research and policies.Furthermore, this article exemplifes and assesses the specifc opportunities and limitations of the diferent methodical approaches against the backdrop of data-driven vs.data-guided analytical frameworks. As its major fndings, our study shows that both research and policies related to digital applications for cultural heritage are mainly driven by the availability of new technologies.Since policies focus on meta-topics such as digitisation, openness or automation, the research descriptors are more granular. In general,data-driven approaches are promising for identifying topics and trendlines and even predicting the development of near future trends.Conversely, qualitative approaches are able to answer“why”questions with regard to whether topics are emerging due to disruptive innovations or due to new terminologies or whether topics are becoming obsolete because they are common knowledge,as is the case for the term“internet”. 展开更多

In particular, how does a website asan interface influence viewers’ response to a Chinese handscroll? The paper begins with a critical description of aweb interface of Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, followed by an analysis of the originalpainting. Fishermen on an Autumn River, that the interface digitizes and displays. The last section points out theinfluence of digitization on the relationship between viewers and digital heritage. 展开更多

Coptic language was an important period of the Egyptian language, coinciding with a period of social and cultural changes.Coptic is also associated with the Greek language,as its alphabet is used for the transcription of Coptic.Despite the fact that the Coptic element is strong in Greece, the theoretical background is rather weak. For this reason,it is considered necessary to create a software tool that aims to help in the translation of Coptic into Greek and at the same time to overcome various obstacles that the researcher may encounter while processing the various corpora or artifacts, such as processing issuer, diacritics etc. This tool consists of a database,a search engine and an interface. 展开更多

Many Beijing Siheyuan,a type of Chinese vernacular housing with significant cultural value, have been lost in recent years.Preserving the few remaining has become a necessity, but many contemporary architects lack an understanding of their design principles.Based on a historical analysis deriving from Fengshui theory, the Gongchens Zuofa Zeli ancient construction manual, and craftsmen's experience, this paper describes a parametric algorithm capable of producing Siheyuan variants within a 4D CAD environment which by transforming the original design principles into an algorithm contributes to an understanding of Siheyuan typology and their preservation. This algorithm was implemented in a virtual scripting environment to generate accurate virtual counterparts of historical orextant Siheyuan houses revealing the tacit computational rules underlying traditional Chinese architecture. 展开更多

Trees belong to humanity’s heritage, but they are more than that.Their loss, through catastrophic fires or under business-as-usual,is devastating to many forms of life.Moved by this fact,we begin with an assertion that heritage can have an active role in the design of future places.Written from within the field of architecture, this article focuses on structures that house life.Habitat features of trees and artificial replacement habitats for arboreal wildlife serve as concrete examples.Designs of such habitats need to reflect behaviours, traditions and cultures of birds, bats, and other animals. Our narrative highlights the nonhuman aspect of heritage, seeking to understand how nonhuman stakeholders can act as users and consumers of heritage and not only as its constituents. Our working definition states that more-than-human heritage encompasses tangible and intangible outcomes of historical processes that are of value to human as well as nonhuman stakeholders. From this basis, the article asks how the established notions of heritage can extend to include nonhuman concerns, artefacts, behaviours and cultures. As a possible answer to this question, the hypothesis tested here is that digital information can(1)contribute to the preservation of more-than-human heritage;and(2)illuminate its characteristics for future study and use. This article assesses the potential of three imaging technologies and considers the resulting data within the conceptual framework of more-than-human heritage, illuminating some of its concrete aspects and challenges. 展开更多

The rapid development of digital technologies provides important opportunities for more effective cultural heritage conservation and management. While the concept of cultural landscape has been accepted by the academic community in the cultural heritage field for many years, the digital conservation of cultural landscapes still lacks pragmatic guidance. The aim of this article is to explore an approach for building a digital information system to support cultural landscape conservation and management. The Slender West Lake scenic area,a typical cultural landscape in China, was used as an instrumental case study.A geo-database was designed and established to integrate the information of the natural, cultural, tangible and intangible landscape features of Slender West Lake. The digital information system for cultural landscapes provides a more holistic, dynamic and specific cultural perspective on heritage for landscape conservators. The system provides comprehensive information support for heritage conservation, management and interpretation, which are not achievable with conventional tools. This article has expanded the cultural heritage theory by presenting a practical guide for the digital information management of cultural landscapes. The workflow for building a cultural landscape geo-database can be used as a reference for heritage projects in China and other countries. 展开更多

Historic environments represent the evolution of materials and techniques that have been used for the construction these environments over the centuries.Entering into the study of this field entails working not only on the crafts that have constructed these environ ments but also on the people who made, used, and reinterpreted them by learning about the craftsmen and the idiosyncrasies of the place. The study has adopted several methodologies as referenee to examine the material and cultural reality of the rural region of Valencia,Spain.Through the adaptation of in ter national methodologies, researchers have carried out a digital database that compiles and maps out the results of the Local Character Assessment of ten Histotiric Urban Cores by incorporating the historical, architectural, and social values to reinforce the Territorial Heritage Action Plan. One of the critical innovations adopted by this form of assessment is the compulsory integration of tangible and intangible heritage through the active involvement of users and makers.Another innovation is to understand the values behind the dynamism and transformation of historic sites.Hence, this study advances theory and practice on the transmission of knowledge among artisans, researchers, and the population and how con temporary practices help acquire new meani ngs that overlap the past ones. 展开更多
