Between these evolutions, we are witnessing new teaching locations or sites called "learning labs". The aim of this article is to present how the deployment of such a location (sometimes named third places) can offer some new perspectives, modifies the way of teaching and gives some interesting results both from the teachers' point of view (in terms of assessment of knowledge and know-how) and for the learners (in terms of motivation, immersion and exchanges). In a second phase, we will focus on the predominant role that electronics can take in setting up formations, especially around "connected objects" (i.e. communicating devices connected to networks). We will illustrate concretely our idea around an experimental training which has obtained the national label GEN ("Grande Ecole du Numkrique").展开更多

Despite significant investments in digital technologies, agricultural productivity continues to underperform. This study explores the barriers preventing the scaling of digital advisory services among smallholder farmers and identifies strategies to optimize their adoption. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from 854 smallholder farmers, 40 extension staff, and 8 development workers across six districts in Zimbabwe. The study reveals a high mobile penetration rate of 91%, higher than the 85% reported in the literature. However, challenges such as limited digital literacy, poor network connectivity, and financial constraints hinder the effective use of mobile advisory services. The findings also highlight a strong reliance on basic communication tools like SMS (42.83%) and WhatsApp (25.14%) for receiving agricultural information, while more advanced tools like mobile apps have lower adoption. Key recommendations include investing in nationwide digital literacy programs, incentivizing mobile network operators to improve rural connectivity, and developing human-centered, scalable digital solutions tailored to farmers’ needs. Furthermore, integrating AI-driven advisory systems with popular platforms like WhatsApp could significantly enhance the delivery of site-specific, actionable farming advice. This research provides insights into how digital advisory systems can be leveraged to improve agricultural productivity in Zimbabwe and other similar contexts.展开更多

Digital media can facilitate individualized and cooperative learning. Additionally, digital media can be used to promote inclusion. However, which factors influence the acquisition of media and information literacy in inclusive education? Comparative international studies, e.g., the International Computer and Information Literacy Study (ICILS), show how social challenges, such as participation and handling heterogeneity at school, can be addressed through media. In numerous studies, it becomes apparent that German teachers do not sufficiently see the potential of digital media, especially for the improvement of learning opportunities for individuals with diverse learning requirements. German teachers are not well able to apply digital media appropriately in their lessons. Teachers need to be qualified and to design modern education with accessible media. In Germany, the ratio between available computers and pupils (1:4) is far better than the rate between teaching with and without computers. According to the teacher’s reports, only 9% of teachers are using digital media daily. Approximately 40% use digital media seldom or never. It seems that the cause is a skeptical attitude towards media among teachers, especially in humanities. That may result from missing didactical competences regarding digital media. The idea of Technical Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) and extending that explanatory model for teachers’ competencies on the inclusive practices builds the theoretical background for the design of joint seminars by the Research Center Youth-Media-Education as part of the Faculty for Cultural Studies and the Research Cluster Technology for Inclusion and Participation at the University of Dortmund. Prospective teachers should become familiar with this way of collaboration. Already for four years now, a teaching team from these two departments designs collaborative lectures. Inclusive teaching and learning in different contexts are practiced in tutorials with practical approaches as well. In tandems, the students develop a learning situation at school or extracurricular institutions. Afterward, they present it. The presentation focuses on the concept, its teaching and learning conditions, and competence orientation as well as opportunities and limitations.展开更多

The cloud classes are organised with one class from each country in the subjects: language, science, math, social science/history. The teachers from the three classes work together to design teaching they conduct together with assignments the students will be able to solve only in collaboration with their fellow students in the three classes. The three year project ends in 2014 but already now there are some interesting findings on how transnational teaching collaboration works for teachers and students. This paper will focus on the different uses of web based tools of synchronous and asynchronous communication and discuss challenges and benefits in regard to learning and pedagogy with virtual classroom.展开更多

Elementary- and high-school libraries, as well as the academic ones, are ubiquitous as associates and promoters of importance of information in the Digital Age. Information literacy becomes a foundation of an individual's literacy in general and leads him/her toward lifelong learning that becomes a philosophy on the way to a society of knowledge. The paper presents research results of informatics and information literacy among students with a purpose of improving the library mission and vision within future education. Data were collected by poll and the pollees were high-school and university students of Slavonski Brod and Osijek. This study found that although the trend of Internet usage in a library is not high, the percentage of those possessing a basic Information and Communication Technology OCT) literacy level is high. Another significant fact is that the number of those unskilled in ICT usage (online database and catalog search) is high which represents a challenge to the libraries and ICT experts who are the incumbents of great responsibility.展开更多

文摘Social emotional literacy(SEL)interventions are widely implemented through schools, with growing evidence for a range of positive child outcomes.Increasingly, such interventions are delivered on online platforms. To date, there is limited evidence about digital SEL interventions in low-and middle-income countries(LMIC).The aim of this study was to explore the perceptions and experiences of children, parents and facilitator of the potential value of addressing SEL via tailored digital intervention. The intervention was designed to help children,in Brazil,to cope during the first COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. The intervention was delivered via a digital platform to groups of three children for 45 min per week for nine.Thirteen children, nine parents and nine facilitators were interviewed following the completion of the intervention. The data was analysed through a codebook thematic approach, which led to three themes:empowerment, participatory aspects of the intervention and digital adaptation.Overall, children’s SEL development was reported to be supported during the COVID-19 pandemic,by the application of new skills outside the sessions.Children reported a number of empowering factors such as being heard and belonging.A range of useful participatory tools were identified including storytelling, games, drawings and videos.Blended SEL interventions involving both face-to-face and web-based facilitation could be developed within a tiered model of universal mental health promotion and targeted prevention.Access to online platforms would increase reach to large numbers of children in LMIC,especially in contexts of disadvantage.
文摘BACKGROUND During the COVID-19 pandemic, the implementation of telemedicine has represented a new potential option for outpatient care. The aim of our study was to evaluate digital literacy among cardiology outpatients.METHODS From March to June 2020,a survey on telehealth among cardiology outpatients was performed.Digital literacy was investigated through six main domains:age;sex;educational level;internet access;availability of internet sources;knowledge and use of teleconference software programs.RESULTS The study included 1067 patients, median age 70 years,41.3%females.The majority of the patients(58.0%)had a secondary school degree, but among patients aged≥75 years old the most represented educational level was primary school or none.Overall, for internet access, there was a splitting between"never"(42.1%)and"every day"(41.0%),while only 2.7%answered"at least 1/month"and 14.2%"at least 1/week".In the total population, the most used devices for internet access were smartphones(59.0%),and WhatsApp represented the most used app(57.3%).Internet users were younger compared to non-internet users(63 vs.78 years old, respectively)and with a higher educational level.Age and educational level were associated with nonuse of internet(age-per 10-year increase odds ratio(OR)=3.07,95%CI:2.54-3.71,secondary school OR=0.18,95%CI:0.12-0.26,university OR=0.05,95%CI:0.02-0.10).CONCLUSIONS Telemedicine represents an appealing option to implement medical practice, and for its development it is important to address the gaps in patients’digital skills, with age and educational level being key factors in this setting.
文摘In this article, we describe the recent developments in higher education relative to the digital outcomes. We will illustrate concretely our idea around an experimental training which has obtained the national label GEN ("Grande Ecole du Numkrique").

文摘The adoption of digital advisory systems is transforming smallholder agriculture in Zimbabwe, a country where agriculture remains the primary livelihood for most of the population. This research provides insights into how digital advisory systems can be leveraged to improve agricultural productivity in Zimbabwe and other similar contexts.

文摘There is a desideratum in the research about the interdependencies of inclusive education and media education. The presentation focuses on the concept, its teaching and learning conditions, and competence orientation as well as opportunities and limitations.
文摘In the Scandinavian countries: Sweden, Norway and Denmark, the project GNU (Gr^enseoverskridende Nordisk Undervisning, i.e. Transnational Nordic Teaching) is experimenting with ways of conducting teaching across the borders in the elementary schools. This paper will focus on the different uses of web based tools of synchronous and asynchronous communication and discuss challenges and benefits in regard to learning and pedagogy with virtual classroom.
文摘A society of knowledge has a mission based on information dissemination and its usage, but its purpose cannot be completely realized without library as an institution that collects, processes, archives, protects and provides library collections to the public. Another significant fact is that the number of those unskilled in ICT usage (online database and catalog search) is high which represents a challenge to the libraries and ICT experts who are the incumbents of great responsibility.
文摘Multimodal as digital literacies are, they have still been text-based.It has been a great concern that due to the popularity of speech-like writing style online, digital literacies have brought informal speech expressions into formal standard writing, and thus increasing the possibility to ruin the standard writing language. On the other hand, although there are moral panics of the survival of standard written languages, scholars and popular media show great tolerance for online languages. In addition,it has been proved that some frequent participants in digital literacies nowadays are capable of both online language and standard offline language, indicating that they are well aware of the different registers of language use and therefore of high language literacy.Furthermore, researches suggest several possible merits of digital literacies, including saving young people from social isolation and depression, providing people with more opportunities to learn new things and to practice the instructional writing, calling for thorough consideration and elaborate editing and encouraging brief and clear writing style.

文摘This paper incorporates individual digital literacy into corporate management practice to explore the relationship between managers'digital literacy and the performance of corporate green technology innovation. The results show that managers'digital literacy can contribute to corporate green technology innovation.Specifically,a greater degree of digital literacy among the top management team is associated with better performance in corporate green technology innovation.Even if the management does not have an educational background in core digital technologies, their work experience related to core digital technologies such as computers and information technology can help promote corporate green technology innovation in the later stage. There is the heterogeneity in the managers'digital literacy role in promoting corporate green technology innovation, which is more significant in the sample of regions with low levels of the digital economy development, sufficient media attention, and non-heavily polluting enterprises.Digital transformation plays a mediating role between managers'digital literacy and corporate green technology innovation.Through further research,we find that the improvement of managers'digital literacy can contribute to the enhancement of corporate value in the future. The conclusions enrich the research horizon of upper echelons theory, explore the value and differentiated effect of digital human capital in the new era,and provide empirical evidence at the micro level that digital technologies promote the green and sustainable development of the economy.
