Results indicate that, under similar weather circumstances, different events evidently exhibit unique vertical structure features. Pro-Environmental Civic Participation in the USA: The Effects of Social Media, Pro-Environmental Lifestyle and Climate Experiences

This study addresses the link between social media use and pro-environmental civic participation considering the moderating effect of social media affordances (public realm) on one hand, and lifestyle behaviors and climate change experiences (personal realm) on the other. We combine communication theory and behavioral models and using a sample of USA individuals (N = 7225) based on the American Trends Panel to predict variations in pro-environmental behavior. We show that social networks rather than information are more effective in predicting pro-environmental behavior. Moreover, a pro-environmental lifestyle as well as climate change experiences at the community level increase the likelihood for pro-environmental participation. However, affordances related to socioeconomic variations generate variations to pro-environmental civic participation. We conclude that in order to capture the depth of pro-environmental civic participation, it is necessary to theoretically and empirically bridge between private and public expressions of pro-environmental awareness. 展开更多

The objective of this paper is to give a comprehensive review of the status quo and future trends of digitization in rock mechanics and rock engineering. Research topics essential to the process of digitization are firstly discussed, including data acquisition, data standardization, geological modeling, visualization and digital-numerical integration. New techniques that will play an important role in digitization process but require further improvement are then briefly proposed. In this paper, an information fusion based scheme is presented to obtain 3-D information of human head. Structured light technology is employed to measure depth. For the special reflection areas,in which the structured light stripe can not be detected directly, the shape of the structured light stripe can be calculated from the corresponding contour. By fusing the information of structured light and the contours, the problem of reflectance influence is solved, and the whole shape of head,including hair area, can be obtained. Purpose:The purpose of the research is to investigate public needs for digital information service in the Chinese libraries and museums and seek ways to help these public service institutions improve their service to meet user needs.Design/methodology/approach:An online questionnaire survey was used to study the publicneeds for digital information service provided by libraries and museums.A total of 474 valid questionnaires were retrieved for analysis.Findings:The primary purpose of using the digital library and museum service was for knowledge acquisition,followed by work or class assignment and leisure and entertainment.Users need one-stop information service that provides information and service in a more integrated form and allows cross-database searching as well.Research limitations:A majority of the respondents were young and middle-aged people who often use the Internet.We would need to increase our sample size and include different groups of users such as children and retirees to make the sample more representative.Practical implications:Libraries and museums should collaborate to provide the users with one-stop digital information service.Meanwhile,the research can serve as a reference source for the future studies of digital library and museum service.Originality/value:Few studies were published on the public needs for digital library and museum service in China.This study bridges the gap and contributes to our understanding of the Chinese users’ needs for digital information service in libraries and museums. 展开更多

Output logic signals with over 10-dB extinction ratios (ERs) and clear open eye diagrams are obtained. No additional input light beam is used. Data Secure Transmission Model Based on Compressed Sensing and Digital Watermarking Technology

Since the Internet of Things(IoT) secret information is easy to leak in data transfer,a data secure transmission model based on compressed sensing(CS) and digital watermarking technology is proposed here. Firstly, for node coding end, the digital watermarking technology is used to embed secret information in the conventional data carrier. Secondly, these data are reused to build the target transfer data by the CS algorithm which are called observed signals. Thirdly, these signals are transmitted to the base station through the wireless channel. After obtaining these observed signals, the decoder reconstructs the data carrier containing privacy information. Finally, the privacy information is obtained by digital watermark extraction algorithm to achieve the secret transmission of signals. By adopting the watermarking and compression sensing to hide secret information in the end of node code, the algorithm complexity and energy consumption are reduced. Meanwhile, the security of secret information is increased.The simulation results show that the method is able to accurately reconstruct the original signal and the energy consumption of the sensor node is also reduced significantly in consideration of the packet loss. 展开更多
