A new pseudolites (PLs) structure optimization model of global navigation satellite system (GNSS)/PLs integration positioning system used in deep open-pit mine was presented. Position dilution of precision (Pdop) and reliability were selected as the optimization indicators to build a multi-objective optimization model to decide the optimum PLs location. A scheme was designed by establishing a four-dimensional model taking azimuth (a), elevation angle (e) and epoch (t) of satellites as the input independent variables and Pdop as the dependent variable to calculate the optimum PLs location zone considering the real circumstances. And then the ultimate PLs location can be fixed by testing the curves of Pdop along time. A field collected Trimble R8 GPS data set in China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) campus was used for the model test to show the effectiveness, and the proposed PLs optimum design scheme was used at the west open-pit mine of Fushun mining group Co., Ltd., in China, better Pdop and reliability have been achieved for the integration system. Both experiments show that the proposed scheme is excellent in designing GNSS/PLs system which is helpful for improving the performance of the positioning system and reducing the cost. 展开更多

Reference satellite selection method for GNSS high-precision relative positioning

The reference satellite selection methods based on elevation and positional dilution of precision (PDOP) value were compared. Results show that all the above methods cannot select the optimal reference satellite. We introduce condition number of the design matrix in the reference satellite selection method to improve structure of the normal equation, because condition number can indicate the ill condition of the normal equation. The experimental results show that the new method can improve positioning accuracy and reliability in precise relative positioning. 展开更多

Monitoring the performance of any structure requires real-time measurements of the change of position of critical points. Different techniques can be used for this purpose, each one offering advantages and disadvantages. The technique based on satellite positioning systems (GPS, GLONASS and the future GALILEO) seems to be very promising at least for long period structures. The GPS in particular provides sampling rates that are able to track dynamic displacements with high accuracy. Its service ability is independent of atmospheric conditions, temperature variations and visibility of the monitored object. This paper investigates the reliability and accuracy of the measurements of dual frequency GPS receivers. A linear electromagnetic motor moves an object along a given direction. The changes of position are compared witb their estimates as recorded by a GPS receiver, whose antenna is located on the reference object. The comparison is based on sufficiently long records. 展开更多

In order to perfect our country regional satellite positioning system, the idea of “Beidou” geosychronous earth orbit (GEO) satellites combined with some middle earth orbit (MEO) satellites constellation is put forward. The details of general satellite constellation optimized method are described, using this method the multiple positioning constellation design results are gained. And those results belong to two type of sehems, one is 2 GEO plus some MEO satellites and the other is 3 GEO plus some MEO satellites. Through simulation and comparison, among those multiple design results, final optimized regional positioning constellation is given. In order to check the chosen constellation cover performance, the position dilution of preeision(PDOP) is calculated, and with ,satellite constellation simulation software Satlab many coverage performances of the chosen constellation substellar point track, elevation, azimuth and visible satellites number changing situation are also simulated. 展开更多

BeiDou regional navigation satellite system (BDS) also called BeiDou-2 has been in full operation since December 27, 2012. It consists of 14 satellites, including 5 satellites in Geostationary Orbit (GEO), 5 satellites in Inclined Geosynchronous Orbit (IGSO), and 4 satellites in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO). In this paper, its basic navigation and positioning performance are evaluated preliminarily by the real data collected in Beijing, including satellite visibility, Position Dilution of Precision (PDOP) value, the precision of code and carrier phase measurements, the accuracy of single point positioning and differential position- ing and ambiguity resolution (AR) performance, which are also compared with those of GPS. It is shown that the precision of BDS code and carrier phase measurements are about 33 cm and 2 mm, respectively, which are comparable to those of GPS, and the accuracy of BDS single point positioning has satisfied the design requirement. The real-time kinematic positioning is also feasible by BDS alolae in the opening condition, since its fixed rate and reliability of single-epoch dual-frequency AR is comparable to those of GPS. The accuracy of BDS carrier phase differential positioning is better than 1 cm for a very short baseline of 4.2 m and 3 cm for a short baseline of 8.2 km, which is on the same level with that of GPS. For the combined BDS and GPS, the fixed rate and reliability of single-epoch AR and the positioning accuracy are improved significantly. The accu- racy of BDS/GPS carrier phase differential positioning is about 35 and 20 % better than that of GPS for two short baseline tests in this study. The accuracy of BDS code differential positioning is better than 2.5 m. However it is worse than that of GPS, which may result from large code multipath errors of BDS GEO satellite measurements. 展开更多

Low-Earth-Orbit(LEO) formation-flying satellites have been widely applied in many kinds of space geodesy. Precise Relative Orbit Determination(PROD) is an essential prerequisite for the LEO formation-flying satellites to complete their mission in space. The contribution of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System(BDS) to the accuracy and reliability of PROD of LEO formation-flying satellites based on a Global Positioning System(GPS) is studied using a simulation method. Firstly, when BDS is added to GPS, the mean number of visible satellites increases from9.71 to 21.58. Secondly, the results show that the 3-Dimensional(3 D) accuracy of PROD, based on BDS-only, GPS-only and BDS + GPS, is 0.74 mm, 0.66 mm and 0.52 mm, respectively. When BDS co-works with GPS, the accuracy increases by 29.73%. Geostationary-Earth-Orbit(GEO) satellites and Inclined Geosynchronous-Orbit(IGSO) satellites are only distributed over the Asia-Pacific region; however, they could provide a global improvement to PROD. The difference in PROD results between the Asia-Pacific region and the non-Asia-Pacific region is not apparent. Furthermore, the value of the Ambiguity Dilution Of Precision(ADOP), based on BDS + GPS, decreases by 7.50% and 8.26%, respectively, compared with BDS-only and GPS-only. Finally, if the relative position between satellites is only a few kilometres, the effect of ephemeris errors on PROD could be ignored. However, for a several-hundred-kilometre separation of the LEO satellites, the SingleDifference(SD) ephemeris errors of GEO satellites would be on the order of centimetres. The experimental results show that when IGSO satellites and Medium-Earth-Orbit(MEO) satellites co-work with GEO satellites, the accuracy decreases by 17.02%. 展开更多

The accurate estimation of the end-effector’s pose in large operating spaces is the key for the mobile manipulator to realize efficient manufacturing of large and complex components.We propose a novel pose tracking method in large-range using visual fiducial markers,and further propose the layout optimization method for the encoded fiducial markers.A metric named orientational dilution of precision(ODOP)is proposed to evaluate the magnification of the pose estimation error compared with the measurement error of the coded fiducial markers.The distribution pattern of the coded markers is analyzed based on ODOP,and the square-shaped layout is determined to be a satisfactory distribution pattern for the minimum positioning unit of markers,and the side length of the square-shaped layout is further selected.The simulations and experiments prove the effectiveness of the ODOP index.Finally,the square-shaped layout and the designed distribution density for positioning coded markers are adopted to realize the high-precision measurement of large components by the mobile manipulator. 展开更多

Pulsars are rapidly rotating neutron stars that generate pulsed electromagnetic radiation.A new method for intersatellite relative position determination between a global navigation satellite system(GNSS) and spacecraft using X-ray pulsars is proposed in this paper.The geometric model of this method is formulated,and two different resolution algorithms are introduced and analyzed.The phase cycle ambiguity resolution is investigated,and a new strategy is proposed and formulated.Using the direct vector parameters of the pulsar,geometric dilution of precision(GDOP) is studied.It is shown that this method has advantages of simplicity and efficiency,and is able to eliminate the clock errors.The analytical results are verified numerically via computer simulations. 展开更多
