Corona discharge suppression for high-voltage direct-current(HVDC)transmission lines at line terminals such as converter stations is a subject that requires attention.In this paper,a method based on a conductor covere...Corona discharge suppression for high-voltage direct-current(HVDC)transmission lines at line terminals such as converter stations is a subject that requires attention.In this paper,a method based on a conductor covered with dielectric film is proposed and implemented through a bench-scale setup.Compared with the bare conductor,the corona discharge suppression effect of the dielectric-film-covered conductor under positive polarity is studied from the composite field strength and ion current density using a line-plate experimental device.The influences of film thickness and film material on the corona discharge suppression effect are investigated.The charge accumulation and dissipation characteristics of different film materials are also studied.The results show that the conductor covered with dielectric film has excellent ability to inhibit corona discharge.The ground-level composite field strength of the conductor covered with dielectric film is lower than its nominal field strength,and its ion current density is at the nA m^(−2) level.The corona threshold voltage can be promoted by increasing the film thickness,but the ability to inhibit corona discharge becomes weak.The larger the surface electric field strength,the more charge accumulated,but the faster the charge dissipation rate.Compared with polyvinyl chloride film,cross-linked polyethylene film has stronger charge accumulation ability and slower charge dissipation rate,which can better restrain the corona discharge of HVDC transmission lines.展开更多

Based on the mechanism of stray current generation in underground structures,the concrete durability test device for stray current and sulphate in typical soil environment was designed to study the damage of concrete ...Based on the mechanism of stray current generation in underground structures,the concrete durability test device for stray current and sulphate in typical soil environment was designed to study the damage of concrete under the action of stray current and sulphate.The deterioration law of concrete under the action of stray current and sulphate was studied by microscopic techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD).The microstructure of corroded concrete was observed to determine the phase composition of erosion products.The damage performances such as quality,strength,and dynamic elastic mode of corroded concrete were performed.The experimental results show that,under the action of stray current,the products of sulfate-eroded concrete are mainly gypsum,ettringite,and thaumasite;the stray current accelerates the hydration process of cement and the erosion of concrete by sulfate;when the concrete pores are filled with the erosion product,there is an increase of approximately 10% in the concrete compressive strength and dynamic elastic modulus;and the concrete compressive strength is more sensitive to the stray current electrification period than the current intensity.展开更多

The stray current characteristic is firstly introduced. Then the optical configuration and the signal processing method of the stray current sensor are illustrated. Moreover, the cause of the stochastic noise in the stray current sensor is analyzed. The calculation method of the stochastic noise coefficient is presented in detail. And the feasibility of the stochastic noise identification with the Allan variance analysis method is evaluated. Furthermore, the zero-drift signal acquisition experiment is conducted to identify the stochastic noise in the stray current sensor. According to the experimental result, the bias instability noise, the quantization noise and the white noise are identified as the major stochastic noise. Finally, the experiment on the direct-current signal acquisitions is conducted, whose results indicate that the signal drift of the measured direct-current is mainly caused by the major stochastic noise. The attainment of an unusually high film thickness (up to 2...High quality epitaxial YBa2Cu3O7-δ (YBCO) superconducting films were fabricated on (00l) LaAlO3 substrates using the direct-current sputtering method. The attainment of an unusually high film thickness (up to 2.0 μm) without mi-crocracking was attributed in part to the presence of pores correlated with yttrium-rich composition in the films. The influ-ence of the film thickness on the microstructure was investigated by X-ray diffraction conventional scan (θ-2θ,ω-scan,pole figure) and high-resolution reciprocal space mapping. The films were c-axis oriented with no a-axis-oriented grains up to the thickness of 2 μm. The surface morphology and the critical current density (Jc) strongly depended on the film thickness. Furthermore,the reasons for these thickness dependences were elucidated in detail.展开更多
Innovative advancement in power electronics is reshaping the conventional high-voltage transmission systems and has also opened a new paradigm for researchers to consider its benefits in the railway electrification sy...Innovative advancement in power electronics is reshaping the conventional high-voltage transmission systems and has also opened a new paradigm for researchers to consider its benefits in the railway electrification system(RES).In this regard,the medium-voltage direct current RES(MVDC-RES)is a key area of interest nowadays.In this paper,a secondary energy source(SES)consisting of renewable energies(REs)and energy storage systems(ESSs)is proposed to solve the issues of catenary voltage regulation,rail potential,and stray current in the MVDC-RES.Some of the major integration topologies of the SES are analyzed for MVDC-RES and the most effective one is proposed and implemented.The voltage at the point of connection(PoC)of the SES is used as a reference for controlling different operation modes of REs and ESSs.Moreover,feedforward control is used at the ESS converter to attain the quick response from the batteries for the desired operation.The proposed scheme improves the catenary voltage,and reduces the rail potential and stray current.Besides,the scheme provides higher energy density and reduces line losses.Simulation results are provided to validate the operation modes and advantages of the proposed scheme.展开更多

Leakage currents accelerate surface degradation of metal contacts via small scale arcing across lubricating films,but recent observations suggest that metallic nanoparticle additives in lubricants may be useful to imp...Leakage currents accelerate surface degradation of metal contacts via small scale arcing across lubricating films,but recent observations suggest that metallic nanoparticle additives in lubricants may be useful to improve contact performance.These findings prompted a study that examined electrically induced surface pitting of steel contacts in the presence of several lubricating greases including some containing nanometer-sized colloidal silver(Ag)particles.Reciprocating rolling sphere-on-disk experiments were conducted under electro-tribological loads employing polyurea greases derived from mineral and synthetic base oils with and without additives.Friction forces and electrical resistance were monitored continuously during the tests;surface changes were characterized by means of optical spectroscopy,stylus profilometry,and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)including compositional analysis using energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS).The observations demonstrate that surface pitting induced by arcing occurs mainly at the points were the rolling motion changes direction and that eroded metal is deposited along the wear grove.Micron-sized pits are formed which contain carbon and oxygen indicating that arcing causes decomposition of the hydrocarbon lubricants.Numerous findings indicate a significant inhibition of pitting is induced by the Ag nanoparticles;some greases containing other additives exhibit a similar,although less pronounced,effect.展开更多

A common method to examine the current-limiting performance of saturated iron-core fault current limiter(SI-FCL) in high-voltage direct-current transmission based on voltage source converter(VSC-HVDC) systems is to so...A common method to examine the current-limiting performance of saturated iron-core fault current limiter(SI-FCL) in high-voltage direct-current transmission based on voltage source converter(VSC-HVDC) systems is to solve differential equations based on the system fault transient characteristics and the equivalent inductance calculation equation. This method analyzes the fault current of the VSC-HVDC system in the time domain. However, it is computationally complex and cannot directly reflect the relationship between parameters and the currentlimiting effect of the SI-FCL.In this paper,the relationship between the magnetic flux density and magnetic field energy of the SI-FCL is analyzed. The energy exchange between the DC capacitor and the SI-FCL in the DC short circuit fault process is analyzed. From the perspective of electromagnetic energy conversion, the criterion for determining the current-limiting ability of the SI-FCL in the transient process is given based on the parameters of the SI-FCL and VSC-HVDC system. On this basis, the characteristics of the DC side fault current and the capacitor voltage when the SI-FCL has current-limiting ability are examined.Based on the parameters of the SI-FCL and VSC-HVDC system, a method for calculating the fault current peak value and capacitor voltage drop time is given. Finally, the accuracy of the analysis of the SI-FCL in the VSC-HVDC system based on the electromagnetic energy conversion mechanism is demonstrated through a case study and simulation results of the VSC-HVDC system with different SI-FCLs.展开更多
Electrochemical trepanning(ET)is one of the main methods for processing the blisks in aero-engines.However,stray corrosion in ET has a very negative impact on the machining quality of the blades.This paper proposes an...Electrochemical trepanning(ET)is one of the main methods for processing the blisks in aero-engines.However,stray corrosion in ET has a very negative impact on the machining quality of the blades.This paper proposes an innovative ET method with an auxiliary electrode surrounding the inner wall of the cavity above the cathode.Two-dimensional electric-field models are established and simulations are carried out with the auxiliary electrode at different positions and different electric potentials.The electric-field simulations show that adding the auxiliary electrode reverses the directions of the current lines in the processed area,thereby protecting it.The results show that when the distance from the bottom of the auxiliary electrode to the top of the cathode tool is 3 mm and the potential difference between the auxiliary electrode and the anode workpiece is 5 V,the area corroded by stray current is decreased.Experiments are performed under the parameter values determined by the simulations,and they confirm that this method is effective at reducing stray corrosion.Specifically,at a feed rate of 2.5 mm/min,the blade taper angle is decreased from 1.37°to-0.09°,the thickness of the leading and trailing edges is increased from 0.307 mm to 0.704 mm,and the average surface roughness is decreased from S_(a)=8.239μm to S_(a)=7.028μm.展开更多

文摘Electrochemical trepanning(ET)is one of the main methods for processing the blisks in aero-engines.However,stray corrosion in ET has a very negative impact on the machining quality of the blades.This paper proposes an innovative ET method with an auxiliary electrode surrounding the inner wall of the cavity above the cathode.Two-dimensional electric-field models are established and simulations are carried out with the auxiliary electrode at different positions and different electric potentials.The electric-field simulations show that adding the auxiliary electrode reverses the directions of the current lines in the processed area,thereby protecting it.The results show that when the distance from the bottom of the auxiliary electrode to the top of the cathode tool is 3 mm and the potential difference between the auxiliary electrode and the anode workpiece is 5 V,the area corroded by stray current is decreased.Experiments are performed under the parameter values determined by the simulations,and they confirm that this method is effective at reducing stray corrosion.Specifically,at a feed rate of 2.5 mm/min,the blade taper angle is decreased from 1.37°to-0.09°,the thickness of the leading and trailing edges is increased from 0.307 mm to 0.704 mm,and the average surface roughness is decreased from S_(a)=8.239μm to S_(a)=7.028μm.
