Distance higher education is an important component of the Chinese higher education.How to enhance the quality of distance higher education is one of the key issues to be addressed in the research areas of distance education and higher education.As a crucial step to quality improvement,the constitution of accreditation system in distance higher education balances the benefits of all parties involved.This paper explores the American accreditation system of higher education and distance education and concludes with suggestions for the constitution of the Chinese quality assurance system:1)establishing third-party institutions to share part of the government roles;2)constituting the accreditation system;3)setting up appropriate standards;4)publicizing results of quality assurance work;and 5)building internal quality assurance mechanism.This paper is aimed to provide some reference to the constitution of accreditation system of distance higher education in China,facilitate the solution of quality problems in distance education,and promote the continuous improvement and development of distance education in China. 展开更多

E-learning platforms support education systems worldwide, transferring theoretical knowledge as well as soft skills. In the present study high-school pupils’, and adult students’ opinions were evaluated through a modern structured MOODLE interactive course, designed for the needs of the laboratory course “Automotive Systems”. The study concerns Greek secondary vocational education pupils aged 18 and vocational training adult students aged 20 to 50 years. The multistage, equal size simple random cluster sample was used as a sampling method. Pupils and adult students of each cluster completed structured 10-question questionnaires both before and after attending the course. A total of 120 questionnaires were collected. In general, our findings disclosed that the majority of pupils and adult students had significantly improved their knowledge and skills from using MOODLE. They reported strengthening conventional teaching, using the new MOODLE technology. The satisfaction indices improved quite, with the differences in their mean values being statistically significant. 展开更多

A Framework for Mobile Education System for Higher Institutions in Nigeria

With the advent of cloud computing technology, the development of mobile applications for use in several facets of life has been on the increase. This has been supported by the proliferation of mobile devices in the society which is also being used in utilizing the prowess of the cloud technology. Building a mobile education system that is platform independent is a major challenge since most of the popularly used ones are either software dependent or hardware dependent. In this work, a framework for mobile education system that is cross platform in nature with regard to operating system, hardware and web browsers using the 3-tier Client/Server mobile application architecture built on web standard was developed and fully tested. A first year computer science course offered by more than 1000 students was used as input to validate the framework. An integration of Short Message Services (SMS), virtual classroom and e-assessment components enable students and lecturers to communicate, create discussion forum and carry out e-testing using their mobile devices. This work is strongly recommended for higher institutions in Nigeria that need to explore the use of mobile devices that are available with the majority of students. Only registered users can access the developed app via the use of handheld devices (smart-phones & tablets). This can actually improve learning, research and collaboration between students and lecturers thereby enhancing learning experience. 展开更多

“非升即走”条件下高校青年教师积极心理品质的培养:职业幸福感的中介作用

在高水平大学建设的驱动下,越来越多高校以“非升即走”制度来管理和考核教师。“非升即走”制度对高校和青年教师产生了重要影响,并诱发了部分青年教师的离职倾向。因此,有必要考虑高校青年教师的积极心理品质对其离职倾向的缓解作用,... 在高水平大学建设的驱动下,越来越多高校以“非升即走”制度来管理和考核教师。“非升即走”制度对高校和青年教师产生了重要影响,并诱发了部分青年教师的离职倾向。因此,有必要考虑高校青年教师的积极心理品质对其离职倾向的缓解作用,探讨青年教师的职业幸福感在积极心理品质和离职倾向之间的中介作用。文章采用定量分析方法,对广东省部分实施“非升即走”制度高校的青年教师进行调查,结果表明:高校青年教师的积极心理品质与离职倾向呈显著负相关,与职业幸福感呈显著正相关;高校青年教师的职业幸福感与离职倾向呈显著负相关,职业幸福感在积极心理品质和离职倾向之间发挥部分中介作用。因此,高校青年教师的积极心理品质既直接影响离职倾向,也通过职业幸福感对离职倾向产生影响。针对“非升即走”制度下高校青年教师离职率上升现象,高校应改革教师科研评价标准,突出学术成果的质量、创新性和贡献度,同时采取多种措施提升青年教师的积极心理品质和职业幸福感。 展开更多
