On distributed power control in full duplex wireless networks

In this paper, we first consider the problem of distributed power control in a Full Duplex （FD） wireless network consisting of multiple pairs of nodes, within which each node needs to communicate with its corresponding node. We aim to find the optimal transmition power for the FD transmitters such that the network-wide capacity is maximized. Based on the high Signal-to-Interference-Plus-Noise Ratio （SINR） approximation and a more general approximation method for logarithm functions, we develop effective distributed power control algorithms with the dual decomposition approach. We also extend the work to the general FD network scenario, which can be decomposed into subproblems of isolated nodes, paths, and cycles. The corresponding power control problem is then be solved with the distributed algorithm. The proposed algorithms are validated with simulation studies.

Distributed Robust Energy and Reserve Dispatch for Coordinated Transmission and Active Distribution Systems

The increasing penetration of renewable energy sources introduces higher requirements for the operation flexibility of transmission system(TS) and connected active distribution systems(DSs). This paper presents an efficient distributed framework for the TS and DSs to work cooperatively yet independently. In addition to conventional power interaction, upward and downward reserve capacities are exchanged to form the feasible access regions at the boundaries that apply to different system operation situations. A distributed robust energy and reserve dispatch approach is proposed under this framework. The approach utilizes the supply-and demand-side resources in different systems to handle various uncertainties and improve overall efficiency and reliability. In particular, integrated as aggregated virtual energy storage(AVES) devices, air-conditioning loads are incorporated into the optimal dispatch. In addition, a reserve model with charging/discharging-state elasticity is developed for AVESs to enhance system flexibility and provide additional reserve support. Different cases are compared to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed approach.

A Least-squares-based Iterative Method with Better Convergence for PF/OPF in Integrated Transmission and Distribution Networks

The limitations of the conventional master-slavesplitting(MSS)method,which is commonly applied to power flow and optimal power flow in integrated transmission and distribution(I-T&D)networks,are first analyzed.Considering that the MSS method suffers from a slow convergence rate or even divergence under some circumstances,a least-squares-based iterative(LSI)method is proposed.Compared with the MSS method,the LSI method modifies the iterative variables in each iteration by solving a least-squares problem with the information in previous iterations.A practical implementation and a parameter tuning strategy for the LSI method are discussed.Furthermore,a LSI-PF method is proposed to solve I-T&D power flow and a LSIheterogeneous decomposition(LSI-HGD)method is proposed to solve optimal power flow.Numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed LSI-PF and LSI-HGD methods can achieve the same accuracy as the benchmark methods.Meanwhile,these LSI methods,with appropriate settings,significantly enhance the convergence and efficiency of conventional methods.Also,in some cases,where conventional methods diverge,these LSI methods can still converge.

Distributed continuation power flow method for integrated transmission and active distribution network

As the integration of distributed generations(DGs)transforms the traditional distribution network into the active distribution network,voltage stability assessments(VSA)of transmission grid and distribution grid are not suitable to be studied separately.This paper presents a distributed continuation power flow method for VSA of global transmission and distribution grid.Two different parameterization schemes are adopted to guarantee the coherence of load growth in transmission and distribution grids.In the correction step,the boundary bus voltage,load parameter and equivalent power are communicated between the transmission and distribution control centers to realize the distributed computation of load margin.The optimal multiplier technique is used to improve the convergence of the proposed method.The three-phase unbalanced characteristic of distribution networks and the reactive capability limits of DGs are considered.Simulation results on two integrated transmission and distribution test systems show that the proposed method is effective.

Pricing Mechanism in Power Market Construction

The reform on electricity pricing mechanism is a critical problem in power market construction in China, and is in mutual supplementation and promotion with the latter. In particular, the pricing mechanism for electricity fed into network and that for electricity transmission and distribution as well as the relationship between coal and electricity prices, etc. have to be studied in depth. This paper presents several solutions and suggestions to these problems.

A New Round of Reform in Electricity Pricing System in China

The State Council issued the Scheme for Reforming Electricity Pricing System m the second half of year 2003. It touches upon separating price of plant from that of network, sales price to network, transmission and distribution price, sales price and system principles in regard to electricity tariff mainly.

Electricity Pricing Policy Should Serve Macro-Economic Control

The National Development and Reform Commission beefed up its efforts to promote the work of electricity price reform in 2004. It took measures in aspects of easing price contradictions, tentatively implementing discriminated price and time-of-use price and issuing a policy on the linkage of coal and electricity prices and price administration. In 2005 the basic thinking of the Commission's electricity price reform is to actively advance the pilot work of price reform,carry out the reform of transmission and distribution price, enlarge the scope of pilot work of large consumer's direct purchase, simplify sales price structure and bring about the linkage of coal and electricity prices.

Operational Risk Assessment for Integrated Transmission and Distribution Networks

To satisfy the requirements of accurate operationalrisk assessment of integrated transmission and distribution networks (I-T&D), an integrated operational risk assessment (IORA) algorithm is proposed. Specific cases demonstrate thatan I-ORA is necessary because it provides accurate handlingof the coupling between transmission and distribution networks,accurate analysis of power supply mode (PSM) changes ofimportant users and helps to improve security and stability ofpower grid operations. Two key technical requirements in theI-ORA algorithm are realized, i.e., integrated topology analysisand integrated power flow calculation. Under a certain contingency, integrated topology analysis is used to assess the risksof substation power cuts, network split and PSM changes ofimportant users, while the integrated power flow calculation,based on the self-adaptive Levenburg-Marquard method andNewton method, can be implemented to assess risks of heavyload/overload and voltage deviation. In addition, the graphicsprocessing unit is used to parallelly process some computationintensive steps. Numerical experiments show that the proposedI-ORA algorithm can realize accurate assessment for the entireI-T&D. In addition, the efficiency and convergence are satisfying,indicating the proposed I-ORA algorithm can significantly benefitreal practice in the coordination operation of I-T&D in the future.

Multi-Terabit Long-Haul Transmission System Utilizing Distributed Raman Amplification Technologies

Here we summarize multi-terabit long-haul transmission experiment and distributed Raman amplification (DRA) technologies. As well, we investigate the configuration of dispersion-managed fibers for the DRA-based system from the viewpoint of the fiber non-linear effect and required pumping power.

On the Mitigation of Polarization Dependency of Distributed Raman Amplifier Gain by Transmission Fiber PMD

We show theoretically and experimentally that Raman PDG can be formulated as a function of the pump light DOP and the transmission fiber PMD. Raman PDG is sufficiently reduced thanks to the inevitable fiber PMD.

Effect of optical losses on the transmission performance of a radio-over-fiber distributed antenna system

The effects of optical losses oil a directly-modulated radio-over-fiber （RoF） system used for distributed antenna networks are determined. The results show that with a properly designed bidirectional amplifier, the RoF link can tolerate over 20 and 16 dB of optical losses for down- and up-links, respectively. Simulation results are also consistent with the experimental data. These findings can contribute to tile design of RoF distributed antenna systems with different topologies.

Operation Analysis on T&D Equipment in Three Gorges LeftBank Hydropower Station

The paper outlines the Yangtze Three Gorges water conservancy complex. It describes the power transmission and distribution equipment in the Three Gorges LeftBank Hydropower Station, especially large high-voltage distribution devices. It elaborates the measures for suppressing GIS over-voltage and the tests on VFTO, besides technical measures to ensure safety and stability of power system in the station. It also makes some analyses and summaries about the problems encountered in operation of the equipment.

Stability Analysis of Multi-paralleled Grid-connected Inverters Including Distribution Parameter Characteristics of Transmission Lines

The sparse distribution characteristics of renewable energy resources can lead to there being tens of kilometers of transmission lines between a grid-connected inverter and the actual grid.Accurate analysis of the stability of such gridconnected inverter systems currently involves using a complex hyperbolic function to shaped model of the transmission line circuit.This has proved to be problematic,so,drawing upon the distribution parameter characteristics of transmission lines,this paper looks at how to use impedance-based stability criteria to assess the stability of multi-paralleled grid-connected inverters.First,the topology of multi-paralleled inverters connected to the grid via transmission lines is established,using each transmission line terminal as a grid connection point.Each grid-connected system is taken to be equivalent to a small-signal circuit model of the“current source-grid”.Euler’s formula and the Nyquist stability criterion are combined to assess the stability of the associated grid-connected current transfer functions and evaluate the stability of the grid-connected current.Finally,a simulation analysis circuit is constructed to verify whether power line intervention will cause stability problems in the grid-connected system.Overall,it is found that long-distance transmission lines are more likely to cause unstable output of the grid-connected current.It is also found that the number of grid-connected inverters,the short-circuit ratio(SCR),the distorted grid and the inverter parameters can all have a significant impact on the stability of the grid-connected current.

Reliability analysis of urban gas transmission and distribution system based on FMEA and correlation operator

In order to improve the safety management of urban gas transmission and distribution system, failure mode and effects analysis （FMEA） was used to construct the reliability analysis system of the pipeline network. To solve the problem of subjectivity and uncertainty of the multi-expert decision making, the correlation operator was introduced into the calculation of the risk priority number （RPN）. Using FMEA along with weight analysis and expert investigation approach, the FMEA evaluation table was given, including five failure modes, risk priority numbers, failure causes and effects, as well as corrective actions. The results show that correlation operator can directly process the linguistic terms and quantify the priority of the risks.

Event-based Control and Filtering of Networked Systems:A Survey

In recent years, theoretical and practical research on event-based communication strategies has gained considerable research attention due primarily to their irreplaceable superiority in resource-constrained systems（especially networked systems）. For networked systems, event-based transmission scheme is capable of improving the efficiency in resource utilization and prolonging the lifetime of the network components compared with the widely adopted periodic transmission scheme. As such, it would be interesting to 1） examining how the event-triggering mechanisms affect the control or filtering performance for networked systems, and 2） developing some suitable approaches for the controller and filter design problems. In this paper, a bibliographical review is presented on event-based control and filtering problems for various networked systems. First, the event-driven communication scheme is introduced in detail according to its engineering background, characteristic, and representative research frameworks. Then, different event-based control and filtering（or state estimation） problems are categorized and then discussed. Finally, we conclude the paper by outlining future research challenges for event-based networked systems.

Availability growth models and verification of power equipment

The general availability growth models for large scale complicated repairable system such as electric generating units, power station auxiliaries, and transmission and distribution installations are presented. The calculation formulas for the maintenance coefficient, mathematical expressions for general availability growth models, ways for estimating, and fitting on checking the parameters of the model are introduced. Availability growth models for electric generating units, power station auxiliaries, and transmission and distribution installations are given together with verification examples for availability growth models of 320–1000 MW nuclear power units and 1000 MW thermal power units, 200–1000 MW power station auxiliaries, and 220–500 kV transmission and distribution installations. The verification results for operation availability data show that the maintenance coefficients for electric generating units, power station auxiliaries, transmission and distribution installations conform to the power function, and general availability growth models conform to rules of availability growth tendency of power equipment.
