Considering the increased anthropogenic impacts, species with a limited range and low detectability often lack fundamental information and conservation actions, placing them at a high risk of endangerment. The Chinting alpine toad Scutiger chintingensis is a rare mountain amphibian endemic to the eastern margin of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau in China.Within its whole distribution range, only three known populations(Wolong,Emei, and Wawu)exist and no recent population status report has been documented for this species over the past two decades. From 2020 to 2023,we investigated the species distribution, and assessed the risk factors for the main populations. We recorded this species in all distribution areas, and updated a new distribution site with a lower elevation limit. The relative population density was 0.024±0.012 ind./m^(2)on Mount Emei, whereas only 0.008±0.017 ind./m^(2)on Mount Wawu.No significant difference was observed in the number of individuals between the two populations;however, the relative population density was significantly different.Sewage and waste discharge resulting from the construction of scenic areas,as well as disturbances from tourism, were the primary anthropogenic factors that influenced the survival of this species. Our results provide the updated information on the distribution and population status of the Chinting alpine toad, and suggest that unrecorded populations,as well as a wider elevation range, may exist for this species. Our findings emphasise the importance of timely updates of species distribution and population information and offer a basis for the future conservation of endangered amphibians. 展开更多

Remote mountainous villages are at risk of falling back into poverty, despite having been lifted out of extreme poverty. However, there has been a lack of focus on the factors contributing to povertyreturn in these villages, which making it difficult to understand the risks and their underlying causes. This study investigates the spatial distribution of 546 key assistance villages(KAVs)in the Liangshan mountainous region,a former poverty-stricken area, using the average nearest neighbor(ANN)and kernel density estimation(KDE)methods.Linear regression and geographically weighted regression(GWR)models are then employed to analyze the relationship between the KAVs'economy and potential povertyreturning factors. The results show that KAVs are primarily located in elevation ranges of 1800-2500 m(31.87%),with slopes of 6°-15°(42.67%)and 2-3 km from the township(28.94%).The distribution of KAVs exhibits distinct spatial clustering, forming four gathering areas.Several factors impact the KAVs'economy positively, including the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),built-up area, grassland, and education facilities, while elevation has a negative effect. The built-up area has the most critical impact on the rural economy, followed by NDVI and elevation.Additionally, education facilities and grassland areas also have significant effects. The study suggests promoting the Ex-situ Poverty Alleviation Relocation Program(ESPARP)and increasing rural built-up areas, grasslands, and educational facilities as practical measures for preventing poverty return and promoting economic development promotion in remote mountain villages. 展开更多

Weihe River basin is of great significance to analyze the changes of land use pattern and landscape ecological risk and to improve the ecological basis of regional development.Based on land use data of the Weihe River basin in 2000,2010,and 2020,with the support of Aeronautical Reconnaissance Coverage Geographic Information System(ArcGIS),GeoDa,and other technologies, this study analyzed the spatial-temporal characteristics and driving factors of land use pattern and landscape ecological risk. Results showed that land use structure of the Weihe River basin has changed significantly, with the decrease of cropland and the increase of forest land and construction land.In the past 20 a,cropland has decreased by 7347.70 km2,and cropland was mainly converted into forest land, grassland, and construction land. The fragmentation and dispersion of ecological landscape pattern in the Weihe River basin were improved, and land use pattern became more concentrated.Meanwhile, landscape ecological risk of the Weihe River basin has been improved.Severe landscape ecological risk area decreased by 19,177.87 km2,high landscape ecological risk area decreased by 3904.35 km2,and moderate and low landscape ecological risk areas continued to increase. It is worth noting that landscape ecological risks in the upper reaches of the Weihe River basin are still relatively serious, especially in the contiguous areas of high ecological risk, such as Tianshui,Pingliang,Dingxi areas and some areas of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.Landscape ecological risk showed obvious spatial dependence, and high ecological risk area was concentrated.Among the driving factors, population density, precipitation, normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),and their interactions are the most important factors affecting the landscape ecological risk of the Weihe River basin. The findings significantly contribute to our understanding of the ecological dynamics in the Weihe River basin, providing crucial insights for sustainable management in the region. 展开更多

This work presents a novel approach to the dynamic response analysis of a Euler-Bernoulli beam resting on a Winkler soil model and subjected to an impact loading. The approach considers that damping has much less importance in controlling the maximum response to impulsive loadings because the maximum response is reached in a very short time, before the damping forces can dissipate a significant portion of the energy input into the system. The development of two sine series solutions, relating to different types of impulsive loadings, one involving a single concentrated force and the other a distributed line load, are presented. This study revealed that when a simply supported Euler-Bernoulli beam, resting on a Winkler soil model,is subject to an impact load, the resulting vertical displacements, bending moments and shear forces produced along the span of the beam are considerably affected. In particular, the quantification of this effect is best observed, relative to the corresponding static solution, via an amplification factor. The computed impact amplification factors, for the sub-grade moduli used in this study, were in magnitude greater than 2,thus confirming the multiple-degree-of-freedom nature of the problem. 展开更多

Batrachospermaceae is an important group of freshwater red algae.Available data of the latitude, longitude, and environmental factors on Batrachospermaceae distribution in Asia were analyzed to understand the geographical distribution of Batrachospermaceae genera in Asia.Statistical analyses, including one-way ANOVA,correlation analysis, stepwise regression analysis, principal component analysis, and linear discriminant analysis were conducted to characterize variation in geographical distribution and growth environment. Results reveal high variation in geographical distribution and growth environment among different Batrachospermaceae genera in Asia.Specifically, correlations between latitude and all environmental factors exclusive of altitude are significant, and longitude is significantly correlated with all environmental factors except for average relative humidity. The geographical distribution and growth environment of different Batrachospermaceae genera significantly differed.Altitude, maximum temperature, average temperature, minimum temperature, average relative humidity, average wind speed, maximum wind speed, and atmospheric pressure all contributed to explaining differences in the geographical distribution of Batrachospermaceae genera.Combining the results of correlation analysis, stepwise regression analysis, and principal component analysis, all environmental factors contributed to the different geographical distribution of Batrachospermum,Paludicola,Sheathia,Sirodotia, and Remainder(the rest),all environmental factors but atmospheric pressure contributed to the different geographical distribution of Kumanoa, and all environmental factors but average wind speed and maximum wind speed contributed to the different geographical distribution of Virescentia. However, the correlation between these significantly related environmental factors and taxa is not necessarily causative, and many other environmental factors, such as temperature,pH,conductivity, shading, current velocity, dissolved oxygen, hardness, substrata types, and nutrients etc.,are likely to have an important impact on the geographical distribution of taxa, which is an important topic for future research. 展开更多

Introduction: Orthostatic Hypotension (OH) is a frequent situation during consultation in hypertensive patients. The prevalence in the general population increases with age and it is recommended to systematically search for it in patients with multiple comorbidities. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of orthostatic hypotension;describe their socio- demographic profile, the various clinical and paraclinical aspects and the predisposing factors of orthostatic hypotension in treated hypertensives, controlled or not. Method: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study, from January 2 to June 30, 2022 in the cardiology department of the Ignace Deen National Hospital. Included in this study were all patients who presented with orthostatic hypotension under antihypertensive treatment, regardless of age and sex, and who agreed to participate in the study. The non-inclusion criteria were hypertensive patients without OH and those who had not agreed to participate in the study. Each patient had blood pressure and heart rate measured in the supine position at room temperature and with an empty bladder. Then the measurement is taken again three (3) minutes after the switch to orthostatism. We retained the diagnosis of OH if the SBP drops by at least 20 mmHg and/or the PAD by at least 10 mmHg three (3) min after the transition to orthostatism. Our data obtained were analyzed in the Epi-info 7.4.0 software. Results: During our study period, we investigated 385 presented with OH, 12.2%. The mean age of the patients was 60.83 years ± 10.01 years and hypertensive patients, 47 of whom the M/F sex ratio was 0.81. In our study, blood pressure was not controlled in 36.2% of our patients with a predominance of grade 3 hypertension, a rate of 55.32%. Renal failure, anemia, heart failure and stroke were the main comorbidities associated with the occurrence of HO. The most incriminated factors were age with a frequency of 74.47%, followed by obesity at 44.68% and diabetes at 27.66%. BP was normally controlled with a rate of 68.8% in treated hypertensive patients with OH. It is found much more in patients using triple therapy, a rate of 61.71%. Conclusion: The prevalence of OH is high in our department. It is found much more in patients using triple therapy. The most incriminated factors were age followed by obesity and diabetes. 展开更多

The abandonment of cultivated land in southern China was gradually obvious. This research aims to provide a reference for solving the abandonment of cultivated land in hilly regions and promote rural development in China. We examined Longnan county located in the hilly regions of southern China as an example, where abandoned cultivated land is very common. We analyzed its land use data with a field survey to identify the abandoned cultivated land and geospatial characteristics. From the two aspects of social and natural factors,we analyzed the factors driving cultivated land abandonment with the help of Geodetector. The results showed that in 2019,the total area of the abandoned cultivated land in Longnan county was 4,962.35 hm^(2),covering 39.51% of this region.Among the topographic factors, the abandonment rate is positively correlated with elevation and slope gradient, but not with slope direction.Among the land parcel conditions, the abandonment rate is positively correlated with the access to road network and cultivation distance from settlement. At the county level, the abandonment of cultivated land in study area was affected by multiple factors, among which, the direct factor was the reduction in the labor force, such as the decrease of farming laborers and the increase of female population, which made farming unsustainable.Changes in production factors also promoted transformations in farmers’motivation to engage in production, such as the decrease of grain crops and the increase of cash crops, which was the indirect factor affecting cultivated land abandonment. The development of the rural nonagricultural industry affected farmers’enthusiasm, such as the decrease of farming households, which was the fundamental factor leading to cultivated land abandonment in this area. 展开更多

The analysis of company data useful for economic decisions,if not interpreted in an overall view of the company situation, can lead to wrong conclusions. This is the case when a company has to choose between several sales options for one or more products in the presence of a limiting factor. The continuation of the investigation often denies the initial analysis. Not everything is as it appears, therefore,at the beginning of the deepening of the data useful for economic decisions. As it is well known, the choices of profitability concerning the planning of the sale of company products take place,at least in the majority of cases, through the determination of the contribution margin,i.e.the profitability margin connected to the individual goods/services sold by the companies(selling price net of variable costs). The contribution margin can be determined with four objectives:(1)Determination of the yield of the single product, net of variable costs only.In this case, the margin defines unitary, from net product yield to unitary contribution margin.(2)Determination of the return on total sales of an individual product, net of variable costs. In this hypothesis, reference is made to the first level(or gross)contribution margin.(3)Determination of the ability of the individual product to contribute to the coverage of fixed costs common to the company. This margin is determined net of special product variable and fixed costs. This aggregate is defined as a Level II(or semi-gross)margin.(4)Determination of the useful value in the planning choices in case of presence of scarce productive factors. In this case,it must identify the so-called unitary margin for low factor. Here we will only deal with the problem of the use of the contribution margin in the presence of rare factors. To complete the analysis, below are some very brief considerations regarding, respectively, the unitary, level I,and level II contribution margin in order to better understand where the problem of the most convenient choice of income is located in the event of the presence of rare production factors, especially in an environment characterized by a plurality of sales options. 展开更多

In this paper, based on the process data of evaluating the benchmark land prices of collective construction land and agricultural land, the score of influencing factors is calculated, and a regression model between value-added benefits and influencing factors is established.According to the contribution of the government and collectives to value-added benefits, the distribution proportions of different purposes and levels are calculated. The research results show that there are significant differences in the distribution proportion of value-added income among different levels. The government distribution proportion decreases with the decrease of level, while the collective distribution proportion increases with the decrease of level. For each level of decrease in commercial service industry land and industrial and mining warehousing industry land, the government distribution proportion decreases by an average of 2.66%and 2.34%,while the collective distribution proportion increases by an average of 2.66%and 2.34%,respectively.The average distribution proportion of the government in the value-added income of commercial service industry land is 31.58%,which is much higher than the average income of 23.68%in the value-added income of industrial and mining warehousing industry land. 展开更多

This study investigates the impact of various factors on the lifespan and diagnostic time of HIV/AIDS patients using advanced statistical techniques. The Power Chris-Jerry (PCJ) distribution is applied to model CD4 counts of patients, and the goodness-of-fit test confirms a strong fit with a p-value of 0.6196. The PCJ distribution is found to be the best fit based on information criteria (AIC and BIC) with the smallest negative log-likelihood, AIC, and BIC values. The study uses datasets from St. Luke hospital Uyo, Nigeria, containing HIV/AIDS diagnosis date, age, CD4 count, gender, and opportunistic infection dates. Multiple linear regression is employed to analyze the relationship between these variables and HIV/AIDS diagnostic time. The results indicate that age, CD4 count, and opportunistic infection significantly impact the diagnostic time, while gender shows a nonsignificant relationship. The F-test confirms the model's overall significance, indicating the factors are good predictors of HIV/AIDS diagnostic time. The R-squared value of approximately 72% suggests that administering antiretroviral therapy (ART) can improve diagnostic time by suppressing the virus and protecting the immune system. Cox proportional hazard modeling is used to examine the effects of predictor variables on patient survival time. Age and CD4 count are not significant factors in the hazard of HIV/AIDS diagnostic time, while opportunistic infection is a significant predictor with a decreasing effect on the hazard rate. Gender shows a strong but nonsignificant relationship with decreased risk of death. To address the violation of the assumption of proportional hazard, the study employs an assumption-free alternative, Aalen’s model. In the Aalen model, all predictor variables except age and gender are statistically significant in relation to HIV/AIDS diagnostic time. The findings provide valuable insights into the factors influencing diagnostic time and survival of HIV/AIDS patients, which can inform interventions aimed at reducing transmission and improving early diagnosis and treatment. The Power Chris-Jerry distribution proves to be a suitable fit for modeling CD4 counts, while multiple linear regression and survival analysis techniques provide insights into the relationships between predictor variables and diagnostic time. These results contribute to the understanding of HIV/AIDS patient outcomes and can guide public health interventions to enhance early detection, treatment, and care. 展开更多

A survey was carried out in the central and north part of the Huanghai Sea (34.5° -37.0°N, 120.5°-124.0°E) during June 12-27, 2000. It was found that the abundance of marine flagellate ranged from 45 to 1 278 cell/ml, 479 cell/ml in average. Flagellate was more abundant in the central part than in the north part of Huanghai Sea, and the abundance decreased with the increasing distance from the coast, showing a similar distribution pattern with isotherm. Vertically, high density of flagellate was always presented in the bottom of thermocline, and formed a dense accumulation in the central area of the Huanghai Sea Cold Water Mass. The effects of physical and biological factors on the distribution of marine flagellate in early summer were discussed. Water temperature (especially the existence of thermocline) rather than salinity showed significant effect on the distribution pattern of marine flagellate in the Huanghai Sea in early summer. When comparing the abundance of marine flagellate with that of other microorganisms, it revealed a comparatively stable relationship among these organ-hisms, with a ratio of heterotrophic bacteria: cyanobacteria: flagellate: dinoflagellate: ciliate being 105 :103:102:101:100. 展开更多

In this paper, we first evaluated the distribution of blood pressure (BP) using a dataset containing 113,979 measurements in 48,022 individuals with the cooperation of one health insurance society in Japan from April, 2013 to March, 2016. The means of the systolic BP (SBP) and diastolic BP (DBP) were 125.4 and 77.6 mmHg with standard deviations of 16.5 and 11.7 mmHg, respectively. Under the 140/90 criterion, 21.6% of the measurements showed hypertension. According to the World Health Organization/International Society of Hypertension criterion, 16.4%, 4.2% and 0.96% were classified as grades 1, 2 and 3, respectively. The factors affecting BP were evaluated by a regression analysis and were found to include age, gender, some eating habits, daily activities, smoking, drinking alcohol, sleeping and wages. Age was a very important factor, and the age cohorts from the previous study might be revised based on these findings. Among factors that individuals can control, the influence of drinking alcohol is very large. Comparing to an individual who does not drink, SBP and DBP of a heavy drinker are more than 5.0 mmHg higher on the average. 展开更多

The Grand Canal (Hangzhou section), People's Republic of China, has been highly contaminated by heavy metals from both industrial and municipal sources since 1950s. This study investigated the distribution of heavy metals including As, Cr, Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn. The results showed that these metals are largely accumulated in the top 0 3 meter layer of the river sediment.Despite the contamination, heavy metal concentrations in solution are increased in some locations only. The only exception is Zn whose concentrations are extremely high both in solution and in the top layer sediment. The top layer sediment appears to have reached almost its sorption capacity with respect to aqueous Zn. The extent of contamination is in the sequence of Zn>Cu>Pb>As>Cd. It is speculated that Cu distribution has been significantly affected by its binding to organic matter in the top layer sediment. Based on Pb distribution in both water and sediment, it is suggested that Pb transport in the canal is associated with colloids or particles suspended in water. The study showed that the top layer sediment in the Grand Canal serves as a sink to anthropogenic contaminants consisting of heavy metals as well as organic compounds. 展开更多

Traditional Chinese villages are precious historical and cultural heritage and special tourist attractions. This study took 646 traditional villages that announced by the government in 2012 as an example to analyze the spatial structure of the traditional villages in China by means of GIS spatial analysis tools and quantitative analysis methods, namely the nearest distance index, geographic concentration index, Gini coefficient and Lorenz curve. The results showed that:(1) in terms of the spatial distribution density, the average density of traditional villages in 29 provinces(cities, districts) was 0.70/10,000 km^2, showing a large provincial gap;(2) as for the type of spatial distribution, there was a cluster distribution; and(3) on the balance of spatial distribution, there were many differences between the east and west, and the distribution was extremely uneven. Based on the above, this study explored the reasons for the uneven spatial distribution, including the natural environment, population migration, the level of traffic accessibility, the degree of government attention, and the level of economic development. 展开更多

Spatial distribution patterns are associated with life history and behavioral adaptations of animals. For studying the spatial distribution pattern of the steppe toad-headed lizard(Phrynocephalus frontalis) and its influencing factors,we conducted experiments in Hunshandake Sandy Land in Inner Mongolia,China in July 2009. By calculating the clustered indices,we found that the lizard was aggregately distributed when the sampling quadrat was smaller than 10 m × 10 m,and uniformly distributed when it was greater than 10 m × 10 m. The Nearest Neighbor Rule showed a clustering distribution pattern for P. frontalis and the distribution pattern was quadrat-sampling dependent. Furthermore, the cluster was determined by environmental factors when the sampling quadrat was smaller than 20 m × 20 m,but it was determined by both environmental factors and characteristics of the lizard when it was larger than 20 m × 20 m. Our results suggested that the steppe toad-headed lizards tended to aggregate into suitable habitat patches in desert areas. Additionally,we discussed that the lizard aggregation could be potentially used as an indictor of movement of sand dunes. 展开更多

Subtropical forest in China has received much attention due to its complex geologic environment and bioclimatic heterogeneity. There have been very few studies addressing which climatic factors have shaped both distribution patterns and niche differentiation of species from this region. It also remains unclear whether phylogenetic niche conservatism retains in plant species from this biodiversityrich subtropical region in China. In this study,we used geographic occurrence records and bioclimatic factors of Prunus dielsiana(Rosaceae),a wild cherry species, combined with the classical ENM-based DIVA-GIS software to access contemporary distribution and richness patterns of its natural populations. The current distribution of P.dielsiana occupied a relatively wide range but exhibited an uneven pattern eastward in general, and the core distribution zone of its populations are projected to concentrate in the Wushan and Wuling Mountain ranges of western China.Hydrothermic variables, particularly the Temperature Seasonality(bio4)are screened out quantitatively to be the most influential factors that have shaped the current geographical patterns of P.dielsiana.By comparison with other sympatric families, climatic niche at regional scale showed a pattern of phylogenetic niche conservatism within cherry species of Ros aceae. The effect of habitat filtering from altitude is more significant than those of longitude and latitude. We conclude that habitat filtering dominated by limiting hydrothermic factors is the primary driving process of the diversity pattern of P.dielsiana in subtropical China. 展开更多

With the increasing application of germanium(Ge)elements in modern industry, military and medical health industries, especially with the growing demand for Ge-rich agricultural products, the study of Ge-rich soil has become particularly important, but the enrichment pattern and control factors of Ge-rich soil are still not well understood due to the high dispersion and high migration of Ge-rich soil.In this paper,495 surface soil(0-20 cm)and 149 deep soil(150-200 cm)samples were collected from the northern foothills of Dabie Mountain using a double-layer grid layout, and the spatial distribution and enrichment characteristics of Ge were studied by high-resolution method, and the controlling factors affecting the distribution of Ge-rich soil was analyzed by geo-statistics and spatial analogy. The results show an average Ge content of 1.34 mg/kg for the surface and 1.36 mg/kg for the deep soil.In the assessment grade classification of surface and deep soil for Ge,the abundant and sub-abundant grades account for 37.97%and 31.70%,respectively,covering 752 km2 and 634 km2.Surface Ge-rich regions are distributed in concentrated strips in the north-central part of the studied region, and there is no clear pattern in the spatial distribution of deep soils. In the areas under study, such as Fenlukou,Dingji, and Jiangjiadian, the surface soil is very rich in Ge and has a high enrichment factor, which is valuable for agricultural development. In surface soils, river deposits and shallow metamorphic rock parent materials have the highest content of Ge,while in deep soils, the highest content has been found in the parent material of moderately acidic rock. Both surface and deep soils have the highest Ge content in purple paddy soils and plain areas. The source of Ge in the soils of the study area is most influenced by the lithology of the soil-forming parent material, while the distribution of Ge in the surface soils is jointly influenced by pH,SiO_(2),TFe_(2)O_(3),and Al_(2)O_(3) in the soil. This study has implications for understanding the enrichment pattern of Ge in soil and its controlling factors as well as for the development of Ge-rich agricultural products. 展开更多

The distribution of chlorophyll a (Chl a) and its relationships with physical and chemical parameters in different regions of the Bering Sea were discussed in July 2010. The results showed the seawater column Chl a concentrations were 13.41-553.89 mg/m2 and the average value was 118.15 mg/m2 in the study areas. The horizontal distribution of Chl a varied remarkably from basin to shelf in the Bering Sea. The regional order of Chl a concentrations from low to high was basin, slope, outer shelf, inner shelf, and middle shelf. The verti- cal distribution of Chl a was grouped mainly from single-peak type in basin, slope, outer shelf, and middle shelf, where the deep Chl a maxima (DCM) layer was observed at 25-50 m, 30-35 m, 36-44 m, and 37-47 m, respectively. The vertical distribution of Chl a mainly had three basic patterns: standard single-peak type, surface maximum type, and bottom maximum type in the inner shelf. The analysis also showed that the transportation of ocean currents may control the distribution of Chl a, and the effects were not simple in the basin of the Bering Sea. There was a positive correlation between Chl a and temperature, but no significant correlation between Chl a and nutrients. The Bering Sea slope was an area deeply influenced by slope current. Silicate was the factor that controlled the distribution of Chl a within parts of the water in the slope. Light intensity was an important environmental factor in controlling seawater column Chl a in the shelf, where Chl a was limited by nitrate rather than phosphate within the upper water. Meanwhile, there was a positive relationship between Chl a and salinity. Algal blooms broke out at Sta. B6 of the southwestern St. Lawrence Island and Stas F6 and F11 in the middle of the Bering Strait. 展开更多
