It is found that the mechanism for chaos is the transverse heteroclinic tori. The Poincaré map, the stable and the unstable manifolds of the system under two incommensurate periodic forces were set up on a two-dimensional torus. Utilizing a global perturbation technique of Melnikov the criterion for the transverse interaction of the stable and the unstable manifolds was given. The system under more but finite incommensurate periodic forces was also studied. The (Melnikov's) global perturbation technique was therefore generalized to higher dimensional systems. The region in parameter space where chaotic dynamics may occur was given. It was also demonstrated that increasing the number of forcing frequencies will increase the area in parameter space where chaotic behavior can occur.展开更多

This parameter is strongly related to many important applications of performance prediction for search sonar or underwater telemetry, acoustical oceanography, acoustic cavitation, volcanology, and medical and industrial ultrasound. In the present paper, both the analytical and numerical analysis results of the acoustical scattering cross section of a single bubble under multi-frequency excitation are obtained. The nonlinear characteristics(e.g.,harmonics, subharmonics, and ultraharmonics) of the scattering cross section curve under multi-frequency excitation are investigated compared with single-frequency excitation. The influence of several paramount parameters(e.g., bubble equilibrium radius, acoustic pressure amplitude, and acoustic frequencies) in the multi-frequency system on the predictions of scattering cross section is discussed. It is shown that the combination resonances become significant in the multi-frequency system when the acoustic power is big enough, and the acoustical scattering cross section is promoted significantly within a much broader range of bubble sizes and acoustic frequencies due to the generation of more resonances.展开更多

Combining the ray tracing method and test particle simulations, we evaluate the effects of energetic electron resonant scattering driven by the discrete, multi-frequency arti- ficially generated ELF/VLF waves. The simulation results indicate a stochastic behavior of electrons and a linear profile of pitch angle and kinetic energy variations averaged over all test electrons. These features are similar to those associated with single-frequency waves. The computed local diffusion coefficients show that, although the momentum diffusion of relativistic electrons due to artificial ELF/VLF whistlers with a nominal amplitude of ~ 1 pT is minor, the pitch angle scattering can be notably efficient at low pitch angles near the loss cone, which supports the feasibility of artificial triggering of multi-frequency ELF/VLF whistler waves for the removal of high energy electrons from the magnetosphere. We also investigate the dependences of diffusion coefficients on the frequency interval (△f) of the discrete, multi-frequency waves. We find that there is a threshold value of Af for which the net diffusion coefficient of multi-frequency whistlers is inversely proportional to △f (proportional to the frequency components Nw) when △f is below the threshold value but it remains unchanged with increasing Af when △f is larger than the threshold value. This is explained as being due to the fact that the resonant scattering effect of broadband waves is the sum of the effects of each frequency in the 'effective frequency band'. Our results suggest that the modulation frequency of HF heating of the ionosphere can be appropriately selected with reasonable frequency intervals so that better performance of controlled precipitation of high energy electrons in the plasmasphere by artificial ELF/VLF whistler waves can be achieved.展开更多

Analytical solutions of a system of coupled partial differential equations, which describe corresponding dynamical free and forced processes, are obtained using Bernoulli's particular integral and Lagrange's method of variation constants. It is shown that one-mode vibrations correspond to two-frequency regime for free vibrations induced by initial conditions and to three-frequency regime for forced vibrations induced by one-frequency external excitation and corresponding initial conditions. The analytical solutions show that the elastic connec- tion between plates leads to the appearance of twofrequency regime of time function, which corresponds to one eigenamplitude function of one mode, and also that the time functions of different vibration modes are uncoupled, for each shape of vibrations. It has been proven that for both elastically connected plates, for every pair of m and n, two possibilities for appearance of the resonance dynamical states, as well as for appearance of the dynamical absorption, are present. Using the MathCad program, the corresponding visualizations of the characteristic forms of the plate middle surfaces through time are presented.展开更多

Accurate prediction of wind power is one effective means of improving wind power integration. Because the traditional single model cannot fully characterize the fluctuating characteristics of wind power, scholars have attempted to build other prediction models based on empirical mode decomposition(EMD) or ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD) to tackle this problem. However, the prediction accuracy of these models is affected by modal aliasing and illusive components. Aimed at these defects, this paper proposes a multi-frequency combination prediction model based on variational mode decomposition(VMD). We use a back propagation neural network(BPNN),autoregressive moving average(ARMA)model, and least square support vector machine(LS-SVM) to predict high, intermediate, and low frequency components, respectively. Based on the predicted values of each component, the BPNN is applied to combine them into a final wind power prediction value. Finally, the prediction performance of the single prediction models(ARMA,BPNN and LS-SVM)and the decomposition prediction models(EMD and EEMD) are used to compare with the proposed VMD model according to the evaluation indices such as average absolute error, mean square error, and root mean square error to validate its feasibility and accuracy. The results show that the prediction accuracy of the proposed VMD model is higher.展开更多

Ship parametric roll resonance will lead to large amplitude roll motion and even wreck. Firstly, the equation describing the parametric roll resonance in irregular waves is derived according to Grim’s effective theory and the corresponding Ince-Strutt stability charts are obtained. Secondly, the differences of stability charts for the parametric roll resonance in irregular and regular waves are compared. Thirdly, wave phases and peak periods are taken into consideration to obtain a more realistic sea condition. The influence of random wave phases should be taken into consideration when the analyzed points are located near the instability boundary. Stability charts for different wave peak periods are various. Stability charts are helpful for the parameter determination in design stage to better adapt to sailing condition. Last, ship variables are analyzed according to stability charts by a statistical approach. The increase of the metacentric height will help improve ship stability.展开更多

文摘Modulated high frequency (HF) heating of the ionosphere provides a feasible means of artificially generating ex- tremely low frequency (ELF)/very low frequency (VLF) whistler waves, which can leak into the inner magnetosphere and contribute to resonant interactions with high energy electrons. Our results suggest that the modulation frequency of HF heating of the ionosphere can be appropriately selected with reasonable frequency intervals so that better performance of controlled precipitation of high energy electrons in the plasmasphere by artificial ELF/VLF whistler waves can be achieved.

文摘The“synchronous impact”is a phenomenon that increases the dynamic load of the inter-shaft bearing, when the frequency of the aerodynamic excitation is close to the contact frequency of the inter-shaft bearing. This work addresses the“synchronous impact”phenomenon of an aero-engine.The 104 degree-of-freedom dynamical model of an aero-engine is established by the finite element method,in which the complex nonlinearity of the Hertzian contact force of the inter-shaft bearing with clearance is included, and the multi-frequency excitations such as the unbalanced excitations of the high-and low-pressure rotors and the aerodynamic excitation are considered.A harmonic balance method combined with the alternating frequency time-domain method(HB-AFT)is introduced to obtain periodic responses of the high-dimension complex nonlinear dual-rotor system. The results show that there emerges a peak value of the amplitude-frequency response for the contact frequency harmonic component of the outer ring of the inter-shaft bearing, when the aerodynamic excitation frequency is close to the contact frequency. In addition, the dynamic load of the inter-shaft bearing increases significantly. Moreover, the parametric analysis shows that the“synchronous impact”phenomenon is sensitive to the change of the speed ratio of the high-and low-pressure rotors. The dynamic load of inter-shaft bearing can be significantly reduced by changing the speed ratio by 1%.The results obtained in this paper not only provide more insight into the mechanism of the“synchronous impact”phenomenon but also demonstrate the HBAFT method as a potential semi-analytical tool to explore the high-dimension complex nonlinear system.

文摘The conversion-efficiency for second-harmonic(SH)in optical fibers is significantly limited by extremely weak second-order nonlinearity of fused silica, and pulse pump lasers with high peak power are widely employed. Here,we propose a simple strategy to efficiently realize the broadband and continuous wave(CW)pumped SH,by transferring a crystalline GaSe coating onto a microfiber with phase-matching diameter. In the experiment, high efficiency up to 0.08%W-1mm-1 is reached for a C-band pump laser. The high enough efficiency not only guarantees SH at a single frequency pumped by a CW laser, but also multi-frequencies mixing supported by three CW light sources. Moreover, broadband SH spectrum is also achieved under the pump of a superluminescent light-emitting diode source with a 79.3 nm bandwidth. The proposed scheme provides a beneficial method to the enhancement of various nonlinear parameter processes, development of quasi-monochromatic or broadband CW light sources at new wavelength regions.

文摘Line-commutated converter-voltage source converter(LCC-VSC)power transmission technology does not have the problem of communication failure very usually. It therefore can support the long-distance,long-capacity transmission of electric energy. However, factors such as topology, control strategy, and short-circuit capacities make the traditional protection principles not fully applicable to LCC-VSC hybrid transmission systems. To enhance the reliability of hybrid DC systems,a single-ended principle based on transmission coefficients is proposed and produced.First, the equivalent circuit of the LCC-VSC hybrid DC system is analyzed and the expression of the first traveling wave is deduced accordingly. Then, the concept of multi-frequency transmission coefficients is proposed by analyzing the amplitude-frequency,and the characteristics of each element. Finally, the LCC-VSCDC system model is built to verify the reliability and superiority of the principle itself.Theoretical analysis and experimental verification show that the principle has strong interference resistance.

文摘The harmonic balance method(HBM)is one of the most widely used methods in solving nonlinear vibration problems, and its accuracy and computational efficiency largely depend on the number of the harmonics selected. The adaptive harmonic balance(AHB)method is an improved HBM method. This paper presents a modified AHB method with the asymptotic harmonic selection(AHS)procedure. This new harmonic selection procedure selects harmonics from the frequency spectra of nonlinear terms instead of estimating the contribution of each harmonic to the whole nonlinear response,by which the additional calculation is avoided.A modified continuation method is proposed to deal with the variable size of nonlinear algebraic equations at different values of path parameters, and then all solution branches of the amplitude-frequency response are obtained.Numerical experiments are carried out to verify the performance of the AHB-AHS method.Five typical nonlinear dynamic equations with different types of nonlinearities and excitations are chosen as the illustrative examples.Compared with the classical HBM and Runge-Kutta methods, the proposed AHB-AHS method is of higher accuracy and better convergence. The AHB-AHS method proposed in this paper has the potential to investigate the nonlinear vibrations of complex high-dimensional nonlinear systems.

文摘In recent years, the large-scale integration of re-newable energy sources represented by wind power and the widespread application of power electronic devices in power systems have led to the emergence of multi-frequency oscillation problems covering multiple frequency segments, which seriously threaten system stability and restrict the accommodation of renewable energy. The oscillation problems related to renewable energy integration have become one of the most popular topics in the field of wind power integration and power system stability research. It has received extensive attention from both academia and industries with many promising research results achieved to date. This paper first analyzes several typical multi-frequency oscillation events caused by large-scale wind power integration in domestic and foreign projects, then studies the multi-frequency oscillation problems, including wind turbine’s shafting torsional oscillation,sub/super-synchronous oscillation and high frequency resonance. The state of the art is systematically summarized from the aspects of oscillation mechanism, analysis methods and mitigation measures, and the future research directions are explored.
文摘This paper presents an analytical and numerical analysis of free and forced transversal vibrations of an elastically connected double-plate system. Using the MathCad program, the corresponding visualizations of the characteristic forms of the plate middle surfaces through time are presented.

文摘Because of the uncertainty and randomness of wind speed, wind power has characteristics such as nonlinearity and multiple frequencies. The results show that the prediction accuracy of the proposed VMD model is higher.

文摘Ince-Strutt stability chart of ship parametric roll resonance in irregular waves is conducted and utilized for the exploration of the parametric roll resonance in irregular waves. The increase of the metacentric height will help improve ship stability.
