Spatiotemporal dynamics of the social structure of Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins(Sousa chinensis)in Xiamen waters from 2007 to 2019

As highly social animals,Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins(Sousa chinensis)exhibit community differentiation.Nevertheless,our understanding of the external and internal factors influencing these dynamics,as well as their spatiotemporal variations,is still limited.In the present study,variations in the social structure of an endangered Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin population in Xiamen Bay,China,were monitored over two distinct periods(2007–2010 and 2017–2019)to analyze the effects of habitat utilization and the composition of individuals within the population.In both periods,the population demonstrated a strikingly similar pattern of social differentiation,characterized by the division of individuals into two main clusters and one small cluster.Spatially,the two primary clusters occupied the eastern and western waters,respectively,although the core distribution area of the eastern cluster shifted further eastward between the two periods.Despite this distribution shift,the temporal stability of the social structure and inter-associations within the eastern cluster remained unaffected.A subset of 16individuals observed in both periods,comprising 51.6%and 43.2%of the population in each respective period,emerged as a foundational element of the social structure and may be responsible for sustaining social structure stability,especially during the 2007–2010 period.These observations suggest that the composition of dominant individuals,an internal factor,had a more substantial influence on the formation of the social network than changes in habitat use,an external factor.Consequently,the study proposes distinct conservation measures tailored to each of the two main clusters. 展开更多

Differential amplification method for flow structures analysis of centrifugal pump between design and off-design points 被引量:2

The three-dimensional internal flow field of centrifugal pump is complex and variable with design parameters and operation conditions. The post-processing technique named differential amplification method was proposed for the comparison study of different flow structures. The full steady flow fields of an industrial centrifugal pump working on-design and off-design points were numerically investigated by solving Reynolds average Navier-Stokes equations together with a shear-stress transport(SST) k-? turbulence model. And the numerically predicted performance curves of the studied pump agree well with test measurement results. Compared with the flow flied on design point under the help of differential amplification method, the disturbance caused by interaction between blade and volute tongue is very obvious and it extends to the diffuser pipe on the working point with 0.8 times rated flux. While on the point with 1.2 times rated flux, the flow distribution in impeller region is roughly even and it flows more to the bottom section of the diffuser pipe. The above method was proved to be good at displaying the subtle secondary flow structure changes with a higher resolution effect relative to single isolated case observation, which helps the optimization decision-making from multiple design cases. 展开更多

Broadband phase shifters are mostly proposed and fabricated based on the scheme proposed by Shiffman, which uses a coupled line with far ends connected together and a uniform transmission line to give a differential phase shift. Based on the unique dispersion property of the composite right/left-handed (CRLH) metamaterial structure, a new configuration is presented in this paper for fabricating the broadband differential phase shifter, which employs a novel CRLH metamaterial structure as one of the differential phase-shift arms, instead of the conventional coupled line. The new circuit can achieve a phase shift of 90° in an operational bandwidth as broad as one octave and its phase deviations are quite small. An original design of the novel broadband phase shifter is presented, in which the artificial CRLH structure was implemented by microstrip quasi-lumped elements. Both the simulated and measured results of the 90° broadband differential phase shifter are presented. 展开更多

Using the data of drilling, logging, core, experiments and production, the heterogeneity and differential hydrocarbon accumulation model of deep reservoirs in Cretaceous Qingshuihe Formation(K1q) in the western section of the foreland thrust belt in southern Junggar Basin are investigated. The target reservoirs are characterized by superimposition of conglomerates, sandy conglomerates and sandstones, with high content of plastic clasts. The reservoir space is mainly composed of intergranular pores. The reservoirs are overall tight, and the sandy conglomerate has the best physical properties. The coupling of short deep burial period with low paleotemperature gradient and formation overpressure led to the relatively weak diagenetic strength of the reservoirs. Specifically, the sandy conglomerates show relatively low carbonate cementation, low compaction rate and high dissolution porosity. The special stress-strain mechanism of the anticline makes the reservoirs at the top of the anticline turning point more reformed by fractures than those at the limbs, and the formation overpressure makes the fractures in open state. Moreover, the sandy conglomerates have the highest oil saturation. Typical anticline reservoirs are developed in deep part of the thrust belt, but characterized by "big trap with small reservoir". Significantly, the sandy conglomerates at the top of anticline turning point have better quality, lower in-situ stress and higher structural position than those at the limbs,with the internal hydrocarbons most enriched, making them high-yield oil/gas layers. The exponential decline of fractures makes hydrocarbon accumulation difficult in the reservoirs at the limbs. Nonetheless, plane hydrocarbon distribution is more extensive at the gentle limb than the steep limb. 展开更多

An Efficient Differential Evolution for Truss Sizing Optimization Using AdaBoost Classifier

Design constraints verification is the most computationally expensive task in evolutionary structural optimization due to a large number of structural analyses thatmust be conducted.Building a surrogatemodel to approximate the behavior of structures instead of the exact structural analyses is a possible solution to tackle this problem.However,most existing surrogate models have been designed based on regression techniques.This paper proposes a novel method,called CaDE,which adopts a machine learning classification technique for enhancing the performance of the Differential Evolution(DE)optimization.The proposed method is separated into two stages.During the first optimization stage,the original DE is implemented as usual,but all individuals produced in this phase are stored as inputs of the training data.Based on design constraints verification,these individuals are labeled as“safe”or“unsafe”and their labels are saved as outputs of the training data.When collecting enough data,an AdaBoost model is trained to evaluate the safety state of structures.This model is then used in the second stage to preliminarily assess new individuals,and unpromising ones are rejected without checking design constraints.This method reduces unnecessary structural analyses,thereby shortens the optimization process.Five benchmark truss sizing optimization problems are solved using the proposed method to demonstrate its effectiveness.The obtained results show that the CaDE finds good optimal designs with less structural analyses in comparison with the original DE and four other DE variants.The reduction rate of five examples ranges from 18 to over 50%.Moreover,the proposed method is applied to a real-size transmission tower design problem to exhibit its applicability in practice. 展开更多

China is one of the largest centers of genetic diversity of Oryza sativa L. and is the original centers of Oryza sativa L. subspecies japonica. Using a genetically representative core collection of 1 442 rice landraces of japonica in China, the genetic structure, differentiation, and geographic diversity were analyzed. The model-based structure analysis on varieties within three ecotypes revealed 16 eco-geographical types, which are partially accorded with some of the ecological zones in China. The differentiation of eco-geographical types contributed to the local ecological adaption and physical isolation, and maybe could be used to develop the heterotic groups of japonica. To facilitate the identification of different ecotypes and eco-geographical types, we provided the SSR character alleles of each ecotype or geographical eco-group and a rapid discriminated method based on these character alleles. Lastly, investigation on genetic diversity, genetic differentiation indicated that southwest region of China, including south of Yunnan Province, northwest of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and southwest of Guizhou Province, possessed the highest genetic diversity and all the necessary conditions as a center of genetic diversity and should be the center of genetic diversity of rice landraces of japonica in China. 展开更多

Vertical differential structural deformation(VDSD),one of the most significant structural characteristics of strike-slip fault zones(SSFZs)in the Shunbei area,is crucial for understanding deformation in the SSFZ and its hydrocarbon accumulation significance.Based on drilling data and high-precision 3-D seismic data,we analyzed the geometric and kinematic characteristics of the SSFZs in the Shunbei area.Coupled with the stratification of the rock mechanism,the structural deformations of these SSFZs in different formations were differentiated and divided into four deformation layers.According to comprehensive structural interpretations and comparisons,three integrated 3-D structural models could describe the VDSD of these SSFZs.The time-space coupling of the material basis(rock mechanism stratification),changing dynamic conditions(e.g.,changing stress-strain states),and special deformation mechanism of the en echelon normal fault array uniformly controlled the formation of the VDSD in the SSFZs of the Shunbei area.The VDSD of the SSFZs in this area controlled the entire hydrocarbon accumulation process.Multi-stage structural superimposing deformation influenced the hydrocarbon migration,accumulation,distribution,preservation,and secondary adjustments. 展开更多

Matrix description of differential relations of moment functions in structural reliability sensitivity analysis

In a structural system reliability analysis that lacks probabilistic information, calculating the numerical characteristics of the state functions, especially the first four moments of the state functions, is necessary. Based on that, the structural system reliability is analyzed with a fourth-order moment method. The reliability sensitivity is required to conduct the differential operation of the numerical characteristic functions. A reliability sensitivity analysis formula is then derived in combination with the relation of the differential operation. Based on the matrix theory and Kronecker algebra, this paper systematically derives a matrix expression of the first four moments of the state functions, and establishes the matrix relation between the first four moments of the state functions and those of the basic random variables. On this basis, a differential operation formula of the first four moments of the state functions is further derived against the first four moments of the basic random variables. The vector relation between the state functions and the multidimensional basic random variables is described by means of the matrix operation to extend the operation method. Finally, a concise and intuitive formula is obtained to explore the inherent essential relation between the numerical characteristics of the state functions and those of the basic random variables, leading to a universal equation for the two kinds of numerical characteristics. 展开更多

[ Objective] To analyze the genetic structure and genetic differentiation of Tibetan Mastiff populations and provide a theoretical basis for the protection and rational development and utilization of the Tibetan Mastiff breed resources. [ Method] A total of 86 blood samples were collected from two populations of Hequ Tibetan Mastiff (HTM) and Qinghai Tibetan Mastiff (QTM). The genetic structure and genetic differentiation of nine blood protein loci of "If, Po, Es-1, Es-2, S(alpha)2, Hb, AIb, Pr and Amy between these two populations were examined by vertical polyacrylam- ide gel electrophoresis with discontinuous buffer system. [ Result] The effective number of alleles (Ne), Shannon genetic diversity index (I) and Nei average expected gene heterozygosity (H) of the HTM were respectively 1.690 7, 0.485 5 and 0.295 9, and these were higher than those of QTM. The Nei's standard genetic distance (D) between HTM and QTM was 0.012 3, and the degree of genetic similarity was 0.987 8. The gene flow (Nm) of these two Tibetan Mastiff populations was 14.543 7. [ Conclusion] The genetic variability of intra-population of HTM was higher than that of QTM, and the genetic differentiation of inter-population was very low ( GsT = 0.018 7). Thereby, the great gene flow ( Nm = 14.543 7) is the main factor leading to the low genetic differentiation of the inter-population in different geographical groups. 展开更多

Areal differentiation of virtual water for agricultural products and its effect on regional agricultural structure adjustment in China: 1995-2007 被引量:3

With a vast territory, the space time distribution of water resources is uneven in China. There is a great dif ference in natural conditions and farmland management of agricultural production in different regions. The areal dif ferentiation of agricultural products virtual water is obvious. Comparison with the agricultural products virtual water from 1995 to 2007 in China shows an increase in the first ten years and a little decrease in recent years. There has been a tendency of increase all the time in Northeast and Northwest, but a decrease after an increase firstly in other regions. The virtual water of food crops is the maximum which accounts for more than 70% in China, and that of veg etables is in a fast growth. The proportion of agricultural products virtual water to the total water resources in each region has a large difference, showing the imbalance of agricultural water in different regions, which accounts for 50% 90% in Northeast, and 125% 185% in North China. Under the guidance of virtual water strategy, based on the differences of resource endowment, each region should adjust agricultural structure, decide production by water, and select water suitable crops. In water rich region, agricultural products of high water consumption should be planted appropriately, which will make full use of the abundant local water resources. In water shortage region the crop pro duction of high water consumption and low efficiency should be depressed, and that of low water consumption and high efficiency should be supported and increased. It will achieve reasonable disposition of water resources, promote ecological restoration and environmental protection, as well as ensure food security. 展开更多

The Levels of Genetic Differentiation of Small-Tailed Han Sheep and Tan Sheep Populations Using Structural Loci 被引量:1

Using the method of "random sampling in typical colonies of the central area of the habitat" and several electrophoresis techniques, the variations of 17 structural loci encoding blood proteins in 60 Small-Tailed Han sheep and 73 Tan sheep were examined and compared with those of 14 other sheep populations in China and other countries to investigate their levels of genetic differentiation. The average heterozygosities of Small-Tailed Han sheep and Tan sheep were 0.2360 and 0.2587, respectively. The average polymorphic information content values were 0.1974 and 0.2102, respectively. The average effective numbers of alleles were 1.5723 and 1.5751, respectively. The coefficients of gene differentiation in the four groups (including 4, 6, 13, and 16 sheep populations, respectively) were 0.049323, 0.059987, 0.1728, and 0.201256, respectively, indicating that the degree of gene differentiation at the structural loci was the least in Hu sheep, Tong sheep, Small-Tailed Hart sheep, and Tan sheep; followed by the above-mentioned four sheep populations and two Mongolian sheep populations; and was the highest in sheep populations belonging to the Mongolian sheep group, South Asian sheep, and European sheep. The earlier researchers' conclusions that both Small-Tailed Han sheep and Tan sheep evolved from Mongolian sheep were further verified by the results of this study. Hu sheep, Tong sheep, Small-Tailed Han sheep, and Tan sheep were decreasingly affected by the bloodline of Mongolian sheep to different degrees. The relationships among sheep populations were not closely related to the geographical distances among sheep populations. 展开更多

Field investigation and laboratory work reveal that inhomogeneity of the deformation of the Xiannushan fault is mainly characterized by lateral zonation, longitudinal segmentation and downward stratification. Based on these results, a 3-D deformational structure model of the fault was established and its geometrical and kinematic characteristics in two main deformational stages i.e. the main Yanshanian and Himalayan were discussed. The directions of principal and the differential stresses in these two stages were determined by using conjugate joints, striations of fault planes and microstructures of the fault zone. The direction of σI is N-S in direction with differential stresses of 150-250 MPa in the Yanshanian, and N70E with a differential stress ranging from 80-120 MPa in the Himalayan. 展开更多

To investigate the genetic diversity of an edible fungus Pleurotus ferulae, a total of 89 wild samples collected from six geographical locations in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China and two geographical locations in Italy, were analyzed using three DNA fragments including the translation elongation factor(EF1α), the second largest subunit of t he RNA polymerase II(RPB2) and the largest subunit of the RNA polymerase II(RPB1). The results indicated relatively abundant genetic variability in the wild resources of P. ferulae. The analysis of molecular variance(AMOVA) showed that the vast majority of the genetic variation was found within geographical populations. Both the Chinese populations and the Italian populations of P. ferulae displayed a limited genetic differentiation. The degree of differentiation between the Chinese populations and the Italian populations was obviously higher than that between the populations from the same region, and moreover the genetic differentiation among all the tested populations was correlated to the geographical distance. T he phylogeny analyses confirmed that samples from China and Italy belonged to another genetic group separated from Pleurotus eryngii. They were closely related to each other but were clustered according to their geographical origins, which implied the Chinese populations were highly differentiated from the Italian populations because of distance isolation, and the two populations from different regions might be still in the process of allopatric divergence. 展开更多

However, vehicle detection method is still challenging. In this paper, differential morphology closing profile is used to extract the vehicle automatically from the traffic image. Along with closing profile, some addition operation has been applied as a part of the algorithm to get the high detection and quality rate. Result demonstrated that the novel method has an excellent detection and quality percentage. We also have compared our automated detection method with other traditional image processing based methods and the results indicate that our proposed method provides better results than traditional image processing based methods. 展开更多

Merr.) was distinguished from its wild progenitor Glycine soja Sieb.& Zucc.in growth period structure,by a shorter vegetative phase(V),a prolonged reproductive phase(R) and hence a larger R/V ratio.However,the genetic basis of the domestication of soybean from wild materials is unclear.Here,a panel of 123 cultivated and 97 wild accessions were genotyped using a set of 24 presence/absence variants(PAVs) while at the same time the materials were phenotyped with respect to flowering and maturity times at two trial sites located at very different latitudes.The major result of this study showed that variation at PAVs is informative for assessing patterns of genetic diversity in Glycine spp.The genotyping was largely consistent with the taxonomic status,although a few accessions were intermediate between the two major clades identified.Allelic diversity was much higher in the wild germplasm than in the cultivated materials.A significant domestication signal was detected at 11 of the PAVs at 0.01 level.In particular,this study has provided information for revealing the genetic basis of photoperiodism which was a prominent feature for the domestication of soybean.A significant marker-trait association with R/V ratio was detected at 14 of the PAVs,but stripping out population structure reduced this to three.These results will provide markers information for further finding of R/V related genes that can help to understand the domestication process and introgress novel genes in wild soybean to broaden the genetic base of modern soybean cultivars. 展开更多

Background: Gossypium arboreum is a diploid species cultivated in the Old World. It possesses favorable characters that are valuable for developing superior cotton cultivars.Method: A set of 197 Gossypium arboreum accessions were genotyped using 80 genome-wide SSR markers to establish patterns of the genetic diversity and population structure. These accessions were collected from three major G. arboreum growing areas in China. A total of 255 alleles across 80 markers were identified in the genetic diversity analysis.Results: Three subgroups were found using the population structure analysis, corresponding to the Yangtze River Valley, North China, and Southwest China zones of G.arboreum growing areas in China. Average genetic distance and Polymorphic information content value of G. arboreum population were 0.34 and 0.47, respectively, indicating high genetic diversity in the G. arboreum germplasm pool. The Phylogenetic analysis results concurred with the subgroups identified by Structure analysis with a few exceptions. Variations among and within three groups were observed to be 13.61% and 86.39%, respectively.Conclusion: The information regarding genetic diversity and population structure from this study is useful for genetic and genomic analysis and systematic utilization of economically important traits in G. arboreum. 展开更多
