For two-dimensional unmagnetized dusty plasmas with many different dust grain species, a Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation, a modified KP (mKP) equation and a coupled KP(cKP) equation for small, but finite amplitude dustacoustic solitary waves are obtained for different physical conditions respectively. The influence of an arbitrary dust size distribution described by a polynomial expressed function on the properties of dust-acoustic solitary waves is investigated numerically. How dust size distribution affects the sign and the magnitude of nonlinear coefficient A (D) of KP (mKP) equation is also discussed in detail. It is noted that whether a compressive or a rarefactive solitary wave exists depends on the dust size distribution in some dusty plasmas. 展开更多

In this paper, we consider the dynamics of modulated waves in an unmagnetized, non-isothermal self-gravitating dusty plasma model. The varying charge on the moving dust, as it moves in and out of regions of differing electron and ion densities (due to changes in the electrostatic potential), will be out of phase with the equilibrium charge. The effect of the dust is to increase the phase velocity of the ion-acoustic (IA) waves i.e. decrease the Landau damping. In the low-amplitude limit and weak damping, we apply the reductive perturbation method on the model that resulted to the complex cubic Ginzburg-Landau (CCGL) equation. From these results, it is observed that, the plasma parameters strongly influence the properties of the solitary wave solution namely, the amplitude and the width. The effects of non-isothermal electrons, gravity, dust charge fluctuations and drifting motion on the ion-acoustic solitary waves are discussed with application in astrophysical contexts. It is also observed that the number of charges residing on the dust grains increases the modulational stability of the plane waves in the plasma, thus, enhancing the generation of modulated waves. 展开更多

Using the reductive perturbation method, we investigate the small amplitude nonlinear acoustic wave in a collisional self-gravitating dusty plasma. In this article an investigation is presented on the properties of dust acoustic(DA)compressive solitary wave propagation in an adiabatic dusty plasma, including the effect of nonthermal positive and negative ions and non-isothermal electrons. The reductive perturbation method has been employed to derive the lower degree modified Kadomtsev-Petviashivili(mK-P),3D Schamel-Korteweg-de-Vries equation or modified Kadomtsev-Petviashivili(mK-P) equations for dust acoustic solitary waves in a homogeneous, unmagnetized and collisionless plasma whose constituents are non-isothermal electrons, singly charged positive and negative non-thermal ions and massive charged dust particles. The stationary analytical solutions of the lower degree mK-P and mK-P equations are numerically analyzed, where the effect of various dusty plasma constituents on DA solitary wave propagation is taken into account. It is observed that both the ions in dusty plasma play a key role in the formation of DA compressive solitary waves, and also the ion concentration and non-isothermal electrons control the transformation of the compressive potentials of the waves. 展开更多

The nonlinear properties of dust acoustic solitary waves in inhomogeneous dusty plasmas with two-ion temperature are investigated. By using the reductive perturbation theory, a modified variable coefficients Korteweg-de Vries (MKdV) equation is derived. The typical integral form of the Sagdeev potential is examined numerically. The numerical results show that the inhomogeneity, the two-ion temperature have strong influence on the nonlinear properties of dust acoustic solitary waves. 展开更多

Effects of oblique collisions of the dust acoustic(DA)waves in dusty plasma are studied by considering unmagnetized fully ionized plasma. The plasma consists of inertial warm negatively charged massive dusts, positively charged dusts, superthermal kappa distributed electrons, and isothermal ions. The extended Poincaré–Lighthill–Kuo(e PLK)method is employed for the drivation of two-sided Korteweg–de Vries(KdV)equations(KdVEs).The Kd V soliton solutions are derived by using the hyperbolic secant method. The effects of superthermality index of electrons, temperature ratio of isothermal ion to electron, and the density ratio of isothermal ions to negatively charged massive dusts on nonlinear coefficients are investigated. The effects of oblique collision on amplitude, phase shift, and potential profile of right traveling solitons of DA waves are also studied. The study reveals that the new nonlinear wave structures are produced in the colliding region due to head-on collision of the two counter propagating DA waves. The nonlinearity is found to decrease with the increasing density ratio of ion to negative dust in the critical region. The phase shifts decrease(increase)with increasing the temperature ratio of ion to electron(κe).The hump(compressive,κe<κec)and dipshaped(rarefactive,κe>κec)solitons are produced depending on the angle(θ)of oblique collision between the two waves. 展开更多

Electrostatic dusty plasma waves in a uniform magnetic field are studied. Unless the magnetic field is extremely strong, the dust particles can hardly be magnetized, while however, electrons and ions are easily done so. Electrostatic modes in such dusty plasmas can then be investigated by making use of the 'moderately magnetized' assumption of magnetized electrons and ions, and unmagnetized dust particles. In a high frequency range, due to the existence of dust component, both frequencies of Lang- muir waves (parallel to the magnetic field) and upper hybrid waves (perpendicular to the field) are reduced. In the frequency range of ion waves, besides the effect on dust-ion-acoustic waves propagating parallel to the magnetic field, the frequency of ion cyclotron waves perpendicular to the magnetic field is also enhanced. In a very low dust frequency range, we find an 'ion-cyclotron- dust-acoustic' mode propagating across the field line with a frequency even slower than dust acoustic waves. 展开更多

In this study, we consider three main collisions in dusty plasmas and investigate the effects of dust grains on the propagation of electromagnetic(EM) waves through uniform, unmagnetized and weakly ionized dusty plasma. The Drude model is improved to describe the dielectric property of dusty plasmas, which accounts for collisions including electron–molecule, electron–ion, and electron–dust particles. Based on the improved Drude model, the propagation characteristics of microwaves in dusty plasmas have been numerically calculated and studied. The results show that the propagation characteristics of microwaves through dusty plasmas are different from those through normal plasmas. The effects of dust density and size are mainly studied. Numerical results indicate that the momentum transfer between electrons and dust grains makes more energy loss. The dust density and dust size have a similar influence on EM wave propagation, resulting in less transmission and more absorption. 展开更多

The nonlinear propagation of dust-acoustic (DA) shock waves in three-component unmagnetized dusty plasma consisting of nonextensive electrons, Maxwellian ions and arbitrarily charged mobile dust grain has been investigated. It is found that the presence of q-nonextensive electrons and ions can change the nonlinear behavior of shock wave. The standard reductive perturbation method is employed to study the basic features (phase speed, amplitude and width) of DA shock waves (DASWs) which are significantly modified by the presence of Maxwellian ions and nonextensive electrons. The present investigation can be very effective for understanding the nonlinear characteristics of the DASWs in space and laboratory dusty plasmas. 展开更多

The nonlinear propagation of dust-acoustic (DA) solitary waves in three-component unmagnetized dusty plasma consisting of Maxwellian electrons, vortex-like (trapped) ions, and arbitrarily charged cold mobile dust grain has been investigated. It has been found that, owing to the departure from the Maxwellian ions distribution to a vortex-like one, the dynamics of small but finite amplitude DA waves is governed by a nonlinear equation of modified Korteweg-de Vries (mK-dV) type instead of K-dV. The reductive perturbation method has been employed to study the basic features (phase speed, amplitude, width, etc.) of DA solitary waves which are significantly modified by the presence of trapped ions. The implications of our results in space and laboratory plasmas are briefly discussed. 展开更多

The reductive perturbation method is applied to investigate the dust acoustic soliton in dusty plasmas with streaming ions under ultraviolet irradiation theoretically and numerically. The self-consistent dust charge variation is taken into account. It is shown that the ultraviolet irradiation can significantly lower the magnitude of the dust negative charge, and ion streaming velocity firstly raise the magnitude of the dust negative charge and then lower it.With the growth of(Ultraviolet) UV photo flux or ion streaming velocity, the phase velocity and width of the solitary waves decrease, whereas its amplitude increases. 展开更多

The linear wave solution and a 'dispersion' relation were derived. It was found that in an infinite area, the mode is reduced to a 'classical' dust acoustic wave in the region away from the center. If the dusty plasma is confined in a finite region, however, the breathing (or heart-beating) behavior would be found as observed in many experiments. 展开更多

The attenuation characteristics of obliquely incident electromagnetic(EM) wave in L-Ka frequency band in weakly ionized dusty plasma are analyzed based on the modified Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook(BGK) collision model.According to the kinetic equation and the charging theory, the total complex dielectric constant of the weakly ionized dusty plasma is derived by considering that the minimum velocity of the electron accessible to the dust particle surface is non-zero and the second potential part of the collision cross-section contributes to the charging. The attenuation characteristics within the modified model are compared with those within the traditional model. The influence of the dusty plasma parameters and the incident angle of EM waves on the attenuation in weakly ionized dusty plasma is further analyzed. Finally, the influence of different reentry heights on the attenuation characteristics of the obliquely incident EM wave is discussed. The results show that the effect of the minimum electron velocity and the second term of the collision cross-section on the attenuation characteristics of EM waves cannot be ignored. When the dust density and dust radius are changed, the trends of the attenuation of obliquely incident EM waves are consistent, but the influence of dust density is weaker than that of dust radius due to the constraint of orbit-limited motion(OLM) theory. The plasma thickness, electron density, and incident angle are proportional to the attenuation amplitude of EM waves. The effect of different reentry heights on the attenuation obliquely incident EM waves is related to the electron density and plasma thickness. 展开更多

Nonlinear monopulses of dust sound waves in cylindrical dusty plasma waveguides bounded by a dielectric are investigated. The dusty plasma includes the positive ions as a light component and the negative dust as a heavy one. The dusty plasma with different masses of dust particles is considered. The set of hydrodynamic equations for the dust jointly with the Poisson one are used. The Boltzmann distribution is valid for the ions. The boundary conditions are applied at the smooth interface. When the moderate volume nonlinearity manifests, near the interface the variations of the dust concentration reach extremely high values, and the collapse of the dust sound waves occurs. In the cylindrical waveguides the collapse manifests at the values of the initial wave amplitudes essentially smaller than in the planar geometry. When the particles of lower masses are near the interface, the collapse realizes more rapidly. 展开更多

The nonlinear propagation of dust acoustic waves is investigated in four-component plasmas consisting of positively charged dust grains, trapped ions, nonthermal electrons, and photoelectron due to ultraviolet irradiation. We use generalized viscoelastic hydrodynamic model for strongly coupled dust grain. In the weak nonlinearity limit, a modified Kadomstev–Petviashvili(KP) equation and a modified KP-Burger equation, which have a damping term coming from nonadiabatic charge variation, have been derived in the kinetic regime and hydrodynamic regime, respectively. In this paper, the quantum hydrodynamics (QHD) model is used to study the propagation of small- but finite-amplitude quantum electrostatic shock-wave in an inertial-less symmetric pair (ion) plasma with immobile background positive constituents. The dispersion due to the quantum tunneling and inertial effects as well as dissipation caused by particle collisions leading to the shock-like or double-layer structures are considered. Investigation of both the stationary and traveling-wave solutions to Kortewege-de Veries-Burgers evolution equation show that critical values exist which govern the type of collective plasma structures.
