The films were prepared using the casting technique. Poly (methyl-methacrylate) (PMMA) polymer was doped with the Phenol Red dye dissolved in a mixture of chloroform and little quantity of methanol, used as suitable solvent for both the dye and the polymer. The spectral absorption measurements of these films were carried out at different dye concentrations using UV-Vis double-beam spectrophotometer in the wavelength range 300 - 800 nm. The optical parameters of the prepared Phenol Red dye doped polymer films, absorption coefficient (α), extinction coefficient (κ), refractive index (n), optical and electrical conductivities (σopt and σelect), and optical energy band gap (Eg), were determined. The results showed that the Phenol Red dye doped polymer film is a good candidate for photonic applications such as, solar cells, optical sensors, and other photonic devices.展开更多

In this paper, 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-t-butyl-6-(1,1,7,7- tetramethyljulolidyl-9-enyl)-4H-pyran (DCJTB) was used as a dopant, and the performance of the OSCs with different DCJTB concentration in copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) was studied. The results showed that the Voc of the OSC with 50% of DCJTB in CuPc increased by 15%, compared with that of the standard CuPc/fullerene (C60) device. The enhancement of the Voc was attributed to the lower highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) level in the DCJTB than that in the CuPc. Also, the light absorption intensity is enhanced between 400 and 550nm, where CuPc and C6o have low absorbance, leading to a broad absorption spectrum.展开更多

The result shows that the concentration of carrier increases obviously, when polyaniline doped with DBSA is irradiated with light. Mixture of sensitive material is advantageous to the absorption of polyaniline in visible light spectrum, and the conductivity is also improved. The results of dielectric measurements on polyaniline doped with DBSA in an Al-PAn-DBSA-Al configuration as function of frequency and temperature are reported. The space-charge polarization phenomenon is observed. Carrier lifetime is microsecond magnitude and mobility is (0.001~0.1) cm 2/V·s, which are obtained by calculation or experiment. The active energy is obtained from the relation between conductivity and temperature. The conducting mechanism of PAn-DBSA is analyzed.展开更多

This was achieved by using a liquid crystal host with negative dielectric anisotropy doped with laser dye PM 597 in a 75 μm cell with a homeotropic alignment layer. In the absence of an applied field, only amplified spontaneous emission was observed since the liquid crystal orientation was uniform. However, application of a field resulted in a fieldinduced planar-like configuration with local nonuniformity in liquid crystal orientation. This led to random lasing in the energized state(voltage greater than a transition threshold). The onset of lasing occurs by application of either a spatially homogenous or a spatially inhomogeneous electric field across the liquid crystal. The characteristics of the emission spectra as a function of different(i) dye concentration and(ii) applied voltage were investigated using nanosecond pulsed laser excitation at 532 nm. The effects of using an inhomogeneous field were compared to the use of a homogenous field and reported. It is shown that the spatial configuration can be used to alter the emission spectra of the system. The work is used to suggest a new configuration, referred to here as"reverse mode," for liquid crystal-based random lasers. This new configuration may provide additional avenues for their use in commercial devices.展开更多
