High-pressure ultrafast dynamics,as a new crossed research direction, are sensitive to subtle non-equilibrium state changes that might be unresolved by equilibrium states measurements, providing crucial information for studying delicate phase transitions caused by complex interactions in Mott insulators. With time-resolved transient reflectivity measurements,we identified the new phases in the spin–orbit Mott insulator Sr_(3)Ir_(2)O_7 at 300 K that was previously unidentified using conventional approaches such as x-ray diffraction.Significant pressure-dependent variation of the amplitude and lifetime obtained by fitting the reflectivity?R/R reveal the changes of electronic structure caused by lattice distortions, and reflect the critical phenomena of phase transitions. Our findings demonstrate the importance of ultrafast nonequilibrium dynamics under extreme conditions for understanding the phase transition of Mott insulators. 展开更多

Slug flow or high GVF(Gas Volume Fraction)conditions can cause pressure disturbance waves and alternating loads at the boundary of mechanical seals for multiphase pumps, endangering the safety of multiphase pump units. The mechanical seal model is simplified by using periodic boundary conditions and numerical calculations are carried out based on the Zwart-Gerber-Belamri cavitation model.UDF(User Define Function)programs such as structural dynamics equations, alternating load equations, and pressure disturbance equations are embedded in numerical calculations, and the dynamic response characteristics of mechanical seal are studied using layered dynamic mesh technology. The results show that when the pressure disturbance occurs at the inlet,as the amplitude and period of the disturbance increase, the film thickness gradually decreases. And the fundamental reason for the hysteresis of the film thickness change is that the pressure in the high-pressure area cannot be restored in a timely manner. The maximum value of leakage and the minimum value of axial velocity are independent of the disturbance period and determined by the disturbance amplitude. The mutual interference between enhanced waves does not have a significant impact on the film thickness, while the front wave in the attenuated wave has a promoting effect on the subsequent film thickness changes, and the fluctuation of the liquid film cavitation rate and axial velocity under the attenuated wave condition deviates from the initial values.Compared with pressure disturbance conditions, alternating load conditions have a more significant impact on film thickness and leakage.During actual operation,it is necessary to avoid alternating load conditions in multiphase pump mechanical seals. 展开更多

Coal and gas outbursts are dynamic disasters in which a large mass of gas and coal suddenly emerges in a mining space within a split second. The interaction between the gas pressure and stress environment is one of the key factors that induce coal and gas outbursts. In this study, first, the coupling relationship between the gas pressure in the coal body ahead of the working face and the dynamic load was investigated using experimental observations, numerical simulations, and mine-site investigations. It was observed that the impact rate of the dynamic load on the gas-bearing coal can significantly change the gas pressure. The faster the impact rate, the speedier the increase in gas pressure. Moreover, the gas pressure rise was faster closer to the impact interface.Subsequently, based on engineering background,we proposed three models of stress and gas pressure distribution in the coal body ahead of the working face:static load, stress disturbance, and dynamic load conditions. Finally, the gas pressure distribution and outburst mechanism were investigated. The high concentration of gas pressure appearing at the coal body ahead of the working face was caused by the dynamic load. The gas pressure first increased gradually to a peak value and then decreased with increasing distance from the working face. The increase in gas pressure plays a major role in outburst initiation by resulting in the ability to more easily reach the critical points needed for outburst initiation. Moreover, the stronger the dynamic load, the greater the outburst initiation risk. The results of this study provide practical guidance for the early warning and prevention of coal and gas outbursts. 展开更多

Current research on pilot-operated relief valve stability is primarily conducted from the perspective of system dynamics or stability criteria, and most of the existing conclusions focus on the spool shape, damping hole size, and pulsation frequency of the pump. However, the essential factors pertaining to the unstable vibration of relief valves remain ambiguous. In this study, the dynamic behavior of a pilot-operated relief valve is investigated using the frequency-domain method. The result suggests that the dynamic pressure feedback orifice is vital to the dynamic characteristics of the valve.A large orifice has a low flow resistance. In this case, the fluid in the main spring chamber flows freely, which is not conducive to the stability of the relief valve. However,a small orifice may create significant flow resistance, thus restricting fluid flow.In this case, the oil inside the main valve spring chamber is equivalent to a high-stiffness liquid spring. The main mass-spring vibration system has a natural frequency that differs significantly from the operating frequency of the relief valve, which is conducive to the stability of the relief valve.Good agreement is obtained between the theoretical analysis and experiments. The results indicate that designing a dynamic pressure feedback orifice of an appropriate size is beneficial to improving the stability of hydraulic pilot-operated relief valves. In addition, the dynamic pressure feedback orifice reduces the response speed of the relief valve. This study comprehensively considers the stability, rapidity, and immunity of relief valves and expands current investigations into the dynamic characteristics of relief valves from the perspective of classical control theory, thus revealing the importance of different parameters. 展开更多

Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)have intriguing physic properties and offer an exciting platform to explore many features that are important for future devices. In this work,we synthesized monolayer WS_(2)as an example to study the optical response with hydrostatic pressure. The Raman results show a continuous tuning of the lattice vibrations that is induced by hydrostatic pressure. We further demonstrate an efficient pressure-induced change of the band structure and carrier dynamics via transient absorption measurements. We found that two time constants can be attributed to the capture process of two kinds of defect states, with the pressure increasing from 0.55 GPa to 2.91 GPa,both of capture processes were accelerated, and there is an inflection point within the pressure range of 1.56 GPa to 1.89 GPa.Our findings provide valuable information for the design of future optoelectronic devices. 展开更多

For evaluating the water stability of hot-mixed renewable asphalt mixture(HRM),the traditional methods are all tested under still water conditions.Except for damage in still water conditions, the hydrodynamic pore pressure generated by the tire driving on the surface water has a great impact. Thus, the RAP contents of the HRMs were designed at 0%,30%,45%and 60%with AC-25 gradation. Then, the self-designed evaluation methods of water stability and dynamic modulus were studied. Finally, the mechanism of the influence of hydrodynamic pore pressure damage on HRMs was studied. The results show that the water stability of HRM containing 30%RAP is equivalent to that of 45%RAP,and the water stability of HRM containing 60%RAP decreases significantly. The Contabro test after MIST treatment can be used as an evaluation method for hydrodynamic pore pressure damage on HRM.Low-speed,heavy-load traffic and larger RAP content have greater damage to the mixture after hydrodynamic pore pressure damage. The performance differences between the aged bitumen and pure bitumen,as well as the aged minerals and new minerals, are continuing to be enlarged in hydrodynamic pore pressure conditions, finally affecting the water stability and dynamic modulus of the HRMs. 展开更多

For studying the driving role of dynamic pressure in water-induced damage of asphalt pavement, based on the fast Lagrangian finite difference method and Biot dynamic consolidation theory, fluid-solid coupling analysis of the pavement is conducted considering asphalt mixtures as porous media. Results reveal that the development and dissipation of the dynamic pore pressure are coinstantaneous and this makes both the positive and negative dynamic pore pressure and seepage force alternate with time. Repetitive hydrodynamic pumping and sucking during moisture damage is proved. The dynamic pore pressure increases with vehicle velocity. Effective stress and deflection of pavement decrease due to the dynamic pore water pressure. However, the emulsification and replacement of the asphalt membrane by water are accelerated. The maximum dynamic pore pressure occurs at the bottom of the surface course. So it is suggested that a drain course should be set up to change the draining condition from single-sided drain to a two-sided drain, and thus moisture damage can be effectively limited. 展开更多

Stress waves affect the stress field at the crack tip and dominate the dynamic crack propagation. Therefore, evaluating the influence of blasting stress waves on the crack propagation behavior and the mechanical characteristics of crack propagation is of great significance for engineering blasting. In this study,ANSYS/LS-DYNA was used for blasting numerical simulation,in which the propagation characteristics of blasting stress waves and stress field distribution at the crack tip were closely observed. Moreover,ABAQUS was applied for simulating the crack propagation path and calculating dynamic stress intensity factors(DSIFs).The universal function was calculated by the fractalmethod. The results show that:the compressive wave causes the crack to close and the reflected tensile wave drives the crack to initiate and propagate, and failure mode is mainly tensile failure. The crack propagation velocity varies with time, which increases at first and then decreases, and the crack arrest occurs due to the attenuation of stress waves and dissipation of the blasting energy. In addition, crack arrest toughness is smaller than the crack initiation toughness, applied pressure waveforms(such as the peak pressure, duration, waveforms, wavelengths and loading rates)have a great influence on DSIFs.It is conducive to our deep understanding or the study of blasting stress waves dominated fracture, suggesting a broad reference for the further development of rock blasting in engineering practice. 展开更多

For expedited transportation, vehicular tunnels are often designed as two adjacent tunnels, which frequently experience dynamic stress waves from various orientations during blasting excavation. To analyze the impact of dynamic loading orientation on the stability of the twin-tunnel,a split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)apparatus was used to conduct a dynamic test on the twin-tunnel specimens. The two tunnels were rotated around the specimen’s center to consider the effect of dynamic loading orientation.LS-DYNA software was used for numerical simulation to reveal the failure properties and stress wave propagation law of the twin-tunnel specimens. The findings indicate that, for a twin-tunnel exposed to a dynamic load from different orientations, the crack initiation position appears most often at the tunnel corner, tunnel spandrel, and tunnel floor. As the impact direction is created by a certain angle(30°,45°,60°,120°,135°,and 150°),the fractures are produced in the middle of the line between the left tunnel corner and the right tunnel spandrel. As the impact loading angle(a)is 90°,the tunnel sustains minimal damage, and only tensile fractures form in the surrounding rocks. The orientation of the impact load could change the stress distribution in the twin-tunnel,and major fractures are more likely to form in areas where the tensile stress is concentrated. 展开更多

To reveal the dynamic mechanical characteristics of deep rocks,a series of impact tests under triaxial static stress states corresponding to depths of 300-2400 m were conducted. The results showed that both the strain rates and the stress environments in depth significantly affect the mechanical characteristics of rocks. The sensitivity of strain rate to the dynamic strength and deformation modulus shows a negative correlation with depth, indicating that producing penetrative cracks in deep environments is more difficult when damage occurs. The dynamic strength shows a tendency to decrease and then increase slightly, but decreases sharply finally.Transmissivity demonstrates a similar trend as that of strength, whereas reflectivity indicates the opposite trend.Furthermore, two critical depths with high dynamically induced hazard possibilities based on the China Jinping Underground Laboratory(CJPL)were proposed for deep engineering. The first critical depth is 600-900 m,beyond which the sensitivity of rock dynamic characteristics to the strain rate and restraint of circumferential stress decrease, causing instability of surrounding rocks under axial stress condition. The second one lies at 1500-1800 m,where the wave impedance and dynamic strength of deep surrounding rocks drop sharply, and the dissipation energy presents a negative value. It suggests that the dynamic instability of deep surrounding rocks can be divided into dynamic load dominant and dynamic load induced types, depending on the second critical depth. 展开更多

The performance of a newly designed tri-lobe industrial lobe pump of high capacity is simulated by using commercial CFD solver Ansys Fluent. A combination of user-defined-functions and meshing strategies is employed to capture the rotation of the lobes. The numerical model is validated by comparing the simulated results with the literature values. The processes of suction, displacement, compression and exhaust are accurately captured in the transient simulation. The fluid pressure value remains in the range of inlet pressure value till the processes of suction and displacement are over. The instantaneous process of compression is accurately captured in the simulation. The movement of a particular working chamber is traced along the gradual degree of lobe’s rotation. At five different degrees of lobe’s rotation, pressure contour plots are reported which clearly shows the pressure values inside the working chamber. Each pressure value inside the working chamber conforms to the particular process in which the working chamber is operating. Finally, the power requirement at the shaft of rotation is estimated from the simulated values. The estimated value of power requirement is 3.61 BHP FHP whereas the same calculated theoretically is 3 BHP FHP. The discrepancy is attributed to the assumption of symmetry of blower along the thickness. 展开更多

Graphene hosts intriguing photocarrier dynamics such as negative transient terahertz(THz) photoconductivity, high electron temperature, benefiting from the unique linear Dirac dispersion. In this work, the pressure effects of photocarrier dynamics of graphene have been investigated using in situ time-resolved THz spectroscopy in combination with diamond anvil cell exceeding 9 GPa. We find that the negative THz conductivity maintains in our studied pressure range both for monolayer and bilayer graphene. In particular, the amplitude of THz photoconductivity in monolayer graphene manifests an extraordinary dropping with pressure, compared with that from the counterparts such as bulk silicon and bilayer graphene.Concomitantly, the time constant is reduced with increasing pressure, highlighting the pressure-induced hot carrier cooling. The pressure dependence of photocarrier dynamics in monolayer graphene is likely related with the enhancement of the interfacial coupling between diamond surface and sample, allowing for the activity of new electron–phonon scattering. Our work is expected to provide an impetus for the studies of high-pressure THz spectroscopy of two-dimensional materials. 展开更多

Impact force is a crucial factor to be considered in debris-resisting structure design. The impact of debris flow against a structural barrier depends not only on the flow dynamics but also on the barrier material. Based on the structural vibration equation and energy conservation law, a simple model for calculating debris-flow impact pressure is proposed, which includes the mechanical impedance of the material, debris-flow velocity and Froude number. Twenty-five impact tests have been conducted using different kinds of materials: steel, black granite, white granite, marble and polyvinyl chloride(PVC) board, and the ratio of the maximum impact time to the vibration period of the structure is determined for the model. It is found that the ratio's square root shows a linear relationship with the material solid Froude number. This indicates that the impedance of the structures plays an important role in the flow-barrier interaction. Moreover, the debrisflow impact force is found to decrease with the travel time of the elastic stress wave though the structures. 展开更多

In order to get the dynamic mechanical properties of deep rock mass suffered both high temperature and high pressure, impact loading experiments on granite subjected to temperature and axial pressure were carried out. Furthermore, the internalstructure characteristics of granite under different temperatures were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that the longitudinal wave velocity assumes a downward trend which shows a rapid drop before falling slowly as the temperature increases. The uniaxial compressive strength of the specimen decreases significantly at temperatures of 25?100 °C compared to that at temperatures of 100?300 °C. The peak strain rises rapidly before the dividing point of 100 °C, but increases slowly after the dividing point. The internal structure of the rock changes substantially as the temperature increases, such as the extension and transfixion of primary and newborn cracks. In addition, the thermal damage under axial pressure is greater than that described by the longitudinal wave velocity and the phenomenon shows obviously when the temperature increases. 展开更多

In this study 12 Japanese long ear rabbits were used as models of acute cholangitis of severe type (ACST), and also an increasing pressure apparatus of selfmade caecus to form high pressure of the biliary tract. The animals were observed for changes in blood dynamics in an attempt to explore the effect and relation of high pressure of biliary tract and infective element in pathogenesis of ACST. It was found that when the biliary pressure was increased within 120 min in the 20 kpa group, the blood endotoxin level showed no obvious increment (P>0.05),but the decreased range of average MAP (mean artery pressure) was over 4 kpa,and the cardiac output also decreased evidently (P<0. 05) , and that when the biliary pressure was decreased,MAP and cardiac output were restored to normal gradually. Of these animals 3 didn't restore their normal condition when the blood pressure decreased to zero and died finally.Meanwhile the electric discharge frequency of the right greater splanchnic nerves increased (P<0.05),but when pressure was reduced, the frequency slowed down. From the above findings, the authors came to the conclusion that the rapid increase of the biliary tract pressure is the important factor leading to a decrease in blood pressure of ACST,and even bringing about irreversible shock , which is involved in the activity of splanchnic nerves. 展开更多
