This paper reports the relationships between microscopic defects of Q345 steel plate under the explosive load and its macroscopic dynamics simulation. Firstly, the defect characteristics of the steel plate were investigated by stereoscopic microscope(SM) and scanning electron microscope(SEM). At the macroscopic level, the defect was the formation of cave which was concentrated in the range of 0-3.0 cm from the explosion center, while at the microscopic level, the cavity and void formation were the typical damage characteristics. It also explains that the difference in defect morphology at different positions was the combining results of high temperature and high pressure. Secondly, the variation rules of mechanical properties of steel plate under explosive load were studied. The Arbitrary Lagrange-Euler(ALE) algorithm and multi-material fluid-structure coupling method were used to simulate the explosion process of steel plate. The accuracy of the method was verified by comparing the deformation of the simulation results with the experimental results, the pressure and stress at different positions on the surface of the steel plate were obtained. The simulation results indicated that the critical pressure causing the plate defects may be approximately 2.01 GPa. On this basis, it was found that the variation rules of surface pressure and microscopic defect area of the Q345 steel plate were strikingly similar, and the corresponding mathematical relationship between them was established. Compared with Monomolecular growth fitting models(MGFM) and Logistic fitting models(LFM), the relationship can be better expressed by cubic polynomial fitting model(CPFM). This paper illustrated that the explosive defect characteristics of metal plate at the microscopic level can be explored by analyzing its macroscopic dynamic mechanical response.展开更多

The 3D discrete element method (DEM) model of AC was constructed employing a user-defined computer program developed using the "Fish" language in PFC3D. Important microstructural features of AC were modeled, including aggregate gradation, air voids and mastic. The irregular shape of aggregate particle was modeled using a clump of spheres. The developed model was validated through comparing with experimental measurements and then used to simulate the cyclic uniaxial compression test, based on which the dynamic modulus and phase angle were calculated from the output stress- strain relationship. The effects of air void content, aggregate stiffness and volumetric fraction on AC modulus were further investigated. The experimental results show that the 3D DEM model is able to accurately predict both dynamic modulus and phase angle of AC across a range of temperature and loading frequencies. The user- defined 3D model also demonstrated significant improvement over the general existing two-dimensional models.展开更多

The general formula of the inhomogeneous consistent mass matrix is established based on the shape function. In order to research the advantages of this method, it is compared with the general finite element method. A linear bar element is chosen for the discretization tests of material parameters with two fictitious distributions. And, a numerical example is solved to observe the differences in the results between these two methods. Some characteristics of the dynamic inhomogeneous finite element method that demonstrate its advantages are obtained through comparison with the general finite element method. Moreover,a three-dimensional numerical analysis code, which can carry out the transitional pro- cess from connective model(for continuum)to contact model(for non-continuum),is developed for simulating the mechanical process from continuum to non-continuum.The wave propagation process in a concrete block(as continuum)made of cement grout under impact loading is numer- ically simulated with this code.By comparing its numerical results with those by LS-DYNA,the calculation accuracy of the model and algorithm is proved.Furthermore, the failure process of the concrete block under quasi-static loading is demonstrated, showing the basic dynamic tran- sitional process from continuum to non-continuum.The results of calculation can be displayed by animation. The damage modes are similar to the experimental results. The two numerical examples above prove that our model and its code are powerful and efficient in simulating the dynamic failure problems accompanying the transition from continuum to non-continuum.It also shows that the discrete element method(DEM)will have broad prospects for development and application.

文摘There are vast constraint equations in conventional dynamics analysis of deployable structures, which lead to differential-algebraic equations(DAEs)solved hard.To reduce the difficulty of solving and the amount of equations,a new flexible multibody dynamics analysis methodology of deployable structures with scissor-like elements(SLEs)is presented.Firstly,a precise model of a flexible bar of SLE is established by the higher order shear deformable beam element based on the absolute nodal coordinate formulation(ANCF),and the master/slave freedom method is used to obtain the dynamics equations of SLEs without constraint equations.Secondly, according to features of deployable structures, the specification matrix method(SMM)is proposed to eliminate the constraint equations among SLEs in the frame of ANCF.With this method, the inner and the boundary nodal coordinates of element characteristic matrices can be separated simply and efficiently, especially on condition that there are vast nodal coordinates. So the element characteristic matrices can be added end to end circularly. Thus, the dynamic model of deployable structure reduces dimension and can be assembled without any constraint equation.Next,a new iteration procedure for the generalized-a algorithm is presented to solve the ordinary differential equations(ODEs)of deployable structure. Finally, the proposed methodology is used to analyze the flexible multi-body dynamics of a planar linear array deployable structure based on three scissor-like elements. The simulation results show that flexibility has a significant influence on the deployment motion of the deployable structure. The proposed methodology indeed reduce the difficulty of solving and the amount of equations by eliminating redundant degrees of freedom and the constraint equations in scissor-like elements and among scissor-like elements.
文摘Taking CPU time cost and analysis accuracy into account, dynamic explicit finite ele- ment method is adopted to optimize the forming process of autobody panels that often have large sizes and complex geometry. In this paper, for the sake of illustrating in detail how dynamic explicit finite element method is applied to the numerical simulation of the autobody panel forming process,an example of optimization of stamping process pain meters of an inner door panel is presented. Using dynamic explicit finite element code Ls-DYNA3D, the inner door panel has been optimized by adapting pa- rameters such as the initial blank geometry and position, blank-holder forces and the location of drawbeads, and satisfied results are obtained.

文摘The dynamic analysis of a pipe system is one of the most crucial problems for the entire mining system. A discrete element method (DEM) is proposed for the analysis of a deep-ocean mining pipe system, including the lift pipe, pump, buffer and flexible hose. By the discrete element method, the pipe is divided into some rigid elements that are linked by flexible connectors. First, two examples representing static analysis and dynamic analysis respectively are given to show that the DEM model is feasible. Then the three-dimensional DEM model is used for dynamic analysis of the mining pipe system. The dynamic motions of the entire mining pipe system under different work conditions are discussed. Some suggestions are made for the actual operation of deep-ocean mining systems.

文摘A user-defined three-dimensional (3D) discrete element model was presented to predict the dynamic modulus and phase angle of asphalt concrete (AC). The user- defined 3D model also demonstrated significant improvement over the general existing two-dimensional models.

文摘Considering the discontinuous characteristics of sea ice on various scales,a modified discrete element model(DEM) for sea ice dynamics is developed based on the granular material rheology. In this modified DEM,a soft sea ice particle element is introduced as a self-adjustive particle size function. Each ice particle can be treated as an assembly of ice floes, with its concentration and thickness changing to variable sizes under the conservation of mass.In this model, the contact forces among ice particles are calculated using a viscous-elastic-plastic model, while the maximum shear forces are described with the Mohr-Coulomb friction law. With this modified DEM,the ice flow dynamics is simulated under the drags of wind and current in a channel of various widths. The thicknesses, concentrations and velocities of ice particles are obtained, and then reasonable dynamic process is analyzed. The sea ice dynamic process is also simulated in a vortex wind field.Taking the influence of thermodynamics into account, this modified DEM will be improved in the future work.

文摘The dynamic inhomogeneous finite element method is studied for use in the transient analysis of one dimensional inhomogeneous media. It is found that the method can be used to solve elastic wave motion problems with a large element scale and a large number of iteration steps.

文摘Combined multi-body dynamics with structural dynamics, a new discrete element with flexible connector, which is applicable for 3-D beam structures, is developed in this paper. Both the generalized elastic coefficient matrix of the flexible connector and the mass matrix of discrete element may be off-diagonal in a general case. The zero-length rigid element is introduced to simulate the node at which multiple elements are jointed together. It may also be effective when the axes of adjacent elements are not in the same line. The examples for eigenvalue calculation show that the model is successful. It can be extended to the geometric nonlinear response analysis.
