Development of an E-maintenance System for a CNC System

In this paper, a new arch... Globalization and rapid growth of network technologies have changed the traditional patterns of device maintenance. E-maintenance has emerged and is widely used in many manufacturing systems. In this paper, a new architecture of an E-maintenance system is proposed, which consists of E-maintenance centre, embedded CNC gateway and CNC terminal. The E-maintenance centre provides the technical support and service for customers based on Internet and communication technologies. The embedded CNC gateway serves as an agent between the public and plant device network, and provides web-based access for the CNC system. A reconfigurable CNC terminal is highly desired in a signal measuring and analysing system, which is built on the top of component and software bus based models. Finally, the E-maintenance system for the CNC machine is implemented and the experiments show that the architecture of an E-maintenance system can effectively reduce the downtime of devices, the responding time of maintenance work, and increase both the quality and the productivity of enterprises. 展开更多

Large engineering plants (LEPs) have certain unique features that necessitate a maintenance strategy that is a combination of both time and condition based maintenance. Although this requirement is appreciated to varying degrees by asset owners, applied research leading to a systematic development of such a maintenance strategy is the need of the day. Such a strategy should also adopt a wholesome "systemic" approach so that the realization of the overall objectives of maintenance is maximized. E-maintenance has several potential benefits for large engineering plants. In this paper, a three pronged strategy is suggested for the successful implementation of e-maintenance for LEPs. Firstly, an integrated condition and time based maintenance framework is proposed for LEPs. Secondly, reference is drawn to models for condition and time based maintenance at systemic levels. As a part of the ab initio development of a condition monitoring system for a LEP, one of the characteristics of the condition monitoring system, namely, predictability, is discussed in detail as a sample for a systemic study. Thirdly, emphasis is laid on the information and expertise available in the domain of plant design, operation and maintenance and the same is tapped for incorporation in maintenance decision making. 展开更多

A supply chain-oriented e-maintenance management mode is presented as a new thought on equipment maintenance on the basis of analyzing the importance of maintenance and the characteristics of current maintenance modes. The mode allies personnel and organizations related to plant in order to construct the dynamic alliance of failure diagnosis and maintenance; through optimized deployment of maintenance resources and management of maintenance flow, the maximization of maintenance profit is realized. This paper analyzes the current multi-agent technology, and multi- agent technology is adopted to construct resource negotiation and a problem-resolving negotiation mechanism in an e-maintenance supply chain. At the same time, an agent negotiation process of resource deployment and harmony is analyzed. Finally, the key technologies realizing e-maintenance based on a supply chain environment are analyzed, which can realize the coordination, effectiveness and agility of an e-maintenance supply chain. 展开更多
