Key Points and Difficulties in the Management of a New Guangzhou 12th People’s Hospital Branch

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period,to improve medical and health services,the Guangzhou Municipal government invested billions in medical construction.During that time,Guangzhou was renewing its approval procedures for construction projects,and the COVID-19 outbreak changed the requirements of hospital construction.In addition to focusing more on spatial planning and layout,the integration of specialized departments,large-scale medical equipment,and numerous intelligent systems increased the complexity of hospital construction projects.The success of these projects often hinges on the quality of the management team.If a hospital construction project manager lacks experience and an understanding of the project’s key aspects,they may struggle with organization,management,and problem-solving,leading to rework,resource waste,and delays.This paper uses the construction of a new Guangzhou 12th People’s Hospital branch as an example to describe the key points and difficulties in each stage of project construction and proposes solutions for the management of similar projects in the future.

Integrating Project Management, Software Development, and Knowledge Management Models: A Case Study in a Public ICT Services Organization

In project-based organizations knowledge is a critical resource used to develop and deliver products and services with a high level of quality. Therefore, a systematic and sustainable process is necessary to coordinate knowledge management, project management and product lifecycle. This scenario predominates in companies focused on the creation and maintenance of information systems. This article presents an exploratory study based on a framework that integrates cognitive, managerial, and operational processes in a public Brazilian organization that provides services in the area of information and communications technology, focusing on the construction and maintenance of information systems. Those processes are operationalized by three management models considering knowledge, project, and software development processes. Our proposal aims to understand the relationships between those three management models and their influence on the software development process in the organization under study. Our premise is based on the principle that cognitive management, project management, and software development management must be integrated to fulfill the demands of product development and service provision. The research data was composed of registers of working hours spent on software development and maintenance projects involving 244 people allocated to 5064 projects in the period from 2007 to 2013. The study resulted in the identification of the relationships among the three management models adopted by the organization, with emphasis on knowledge management activities, which were not directly identified, making it difficult to account for and measure them. We established a set of activities connected to each one of the knowledge management model phases. Since those activities were not visible before, our approach contributed to build a systematic process to register and relate activities linked to the dimensions of cognitive processes, project management, and software construction.

How Does Robotics Process Automation (RPA) Affect Project Management Practices

The main purpose of this literature review is to understand the effectiveness and impacts of Robotics Process Automation (RPA) on the practices of Project Management (PM). For attaining the purposes of the research study, an extensive literature review was conducted, which helped in gaining a theoretical understanding. These findings were then justified with the help of current and relevant secondary sources in the analysis section. The findings suggested that RPA is quite advantageous for implementing in varied aspects of a business, especially in the field of project management. However, it can pose several challenges, which need to be taken into due consideration by the organizations during execution such as the capabilities of the employees and the abilities of the existing systems to incorporate automation, among others. It was ultimately concluded that RPA is highly advantageous for project management teams but its effective implementation is the key to success.

Evaluating the Impact of Workshop Management on the Progress of Road Construction Projects(Case Study:Road Construction Projects of Tehran Province)

Construction projects,including road construction,are very important.Therefore,a lot of money is spent on these projects every year.So,the lack of proper planning will increase the cost and cause irreparable damage to the country.The role of workshop management is one of the most important factors in increasing the cost of these types of projects.Generally,workshop management plays a very important role in improving the quality and quantity of projects and has an important place in the project implementation process.Therefore,this study evaluated the impact of workshop management on the progress of road construction projects on a case-by-case basis in road construction projects in Tehran province.According to the purpose of the research,this study was a descriptive-survey type.In addition,the tool used in this research was a questionnaire.The statistical population of this research included all experts and specialists in road construction projects,among whom 65 people were selected by snowball method.Then the collected data were analyzed using SPSS software.The results of this study showed that the management of the workshop and its role in the control and implementation of projects is a complex process,which can be implemented at high levels and effectively by combining scientific and experimental training.And a very important point in the discussion of workshop management is applying scientific management to the use of valuable experiences from others.Because management knowledge not only does not negate the use of these experiences,but also emphasizes the necessity of using them.In other words,improving the knowledge of workshop management is one of the requirements for the implementation of value engineering in construction projects,especially road construction,and it is very important.

The Relationship Between Cross-Cultural Conflict Management Levels and Employee Organizational Performance in Cross-Border E-Commerce Corporations in China

This research focuses on the cross-cultural conflict management of cross-border e-commerce corporations in companies on employee organizational performance under conflict management such as power distance conflict,individualism,long-term orientation,indulgence and avoidance of uncertainty as the independent variables and employee organizational performance such as quality,efficiency,and profitability of organizational tasks as the dependent variable.With the advancement of China’s reform and opening up and the implementation of the“One Belt,One Road”strategy,the globalized economy has penetrated into various countries and regions.China trade exchanges with other countries have become more frequent,and have also set up branch factories and branches abroad.However,there are certain differences between the branch company and the domestic culture in the actual operation process.If the cross-border e-commerce corporations cannot handle these contradictions and differences well,the company may face difficulties such as cultural conflicts.For this reason,this paper makes a deep analysis of this,taking the cross-border e-commerce corporations in Guangxi as an example,and points out the problems existing in cross-cultural management in this region and putting forward personal opinions and solutions to related problems,and putting forward feasible solutions,enhances the understanding of involving conceptualizations of cross-cultural communication conflict and its management in the frame of cross-cultural conflicts management theory and provides references for the formulation of cultural conflict management measures for cross-border e-commerce corporations.So that enterprises can gain a firm foothold in the international market competition,enrich and enhance their soft power,and enhance their international status in the development of multinational regions.The result of this research will not only answer existing research questions,but also introduce new ideas and new questions for future research.

The Effect of Performance Management System on Employee Productivity in Cross-Border E-Commerce Enterprises in China

The aim of the current research was to analyze how the performance management system of China’s cross-border e-commerce enterprises affects employee productivity.The study was guided by the following research objectives:to investigate the performance management system on employee productivity in cross-border e-commerce enterprises in China;to determine the relationship between the performance management system and employee productivity in cross-border e-commerce enterprises in China.The study adopted a quantitative approach to the effects of performance management practices on employee productivity.The dependent variables included performance appraisals,reward systems,and performance feedback,and the implications on employee productivity as the independent variable.The target population is comprised of 400 employees in China’s cross-border e-commerce enterprises.Descriptive statistics were utilized as a data analysis tool.The demographic profiles of the respondents were analyzed using percentages and frequencies.Inferential statistics such as correlation and regression analysis established the relationship between dependent and independent variables.The study recommends that the performance management practices should be optimized to improve employee performance.Performance reviews should be focused on the contributions of the individual employees to meet the organizational objectives.For every possible opportunity,the manager should formally recognize good employee efforts for enhanced work performance.Effective performance management practices that edify appraisal and reward should be used to achieve organization goals and enhance employee productivity.

Analyzing the Construction of the International Logistics Supply Chain Management Model from the Perspective of Cross-Border E-commerce

Cross-border e-commerce has progressively evolved with the deepening of economic globalization,and it now holds a significant place in the field of e-commerce.However,due to China’s late entry into the international logistics supply chain,there are issues such as complex environment,uneven information technology,and disagreements on standards,resulting in certain cross-border e-commerce disadvantages in China.Therefore,in this context,this study analyzes the construction of international logistics supply chain management model from the perspective of cross-border e-commerce,so as to provide some reference for the development of China’s international logistics supply chain.

Project Management in College Students' Interpreting Practice

Nowadays, college students, as a main part of interpreters, have engaged more and more in interpreting practices in formsof foreign guests’reception, telephone interpreting, escort interpreting and consecutive interpreting, etc. However, these practicesstill remain a lot of problems, such as low quality, disordered management and improper resource utilization, which are in urgentneed of systematic interpreting project management. Combined with the features of students’interpreting practice, students-oriented interpreting project can better manage these problems above and build a standardized and effective language servicegroup. Reliability model of organization management chain of South-to-North Water Diversion Project during construction period

In order to analyze the indispensability of the organization management chain of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project （SNWDP）, two basic forms （series connection state and mixed state of both series connection and parallel connection） of the organization management chain can be abstracted. The indispensability of each form has been studied and is described in this paper. Through analysis of the reliability of the two basic forms, reliability models of the organization management chain in the series connection state and the mixed state of both series connection and parallel connection have been set up.

θ-improved limited tolerance relation model of incomplete information system for evaluation of water conservancy project management modernization

The modernization of water conservancy project management is a complicated engineering system involving a management system, a management method, management personnel, the exertion of social, economic, and ecological effects, and so on. However, indices for evaluating the modernization of water conservancy project management are usually unobtainable in practical applications. Conducting appropriate extension of the classical rough set theory and then applying it to an incomplete information system are the key to the application of the rough set theory Based on analysis of some extended rough set models in incomplete information systems, a rough set model based on the θ-improved limited tolerance relation is put forward. At the same time, upper approximation and lower approximation are defined under this improved relation. According to the evaluation index system and management practices, the threshold for θ is defined. An example study indicates the practicability and maneuverability of the model.

A Comparative Analysis of RAD and Agile Technique for Management of Computing Graduation Projects

Computing students face the problem with time and quality of the work while managing their graduation/senior projects.Rapid Application Development(RAD)model is based on continual user involvement for the process of requirement gathering via prototyping.After each iteration,the developers can validate the requirements that are completed in the iteration.Managing a project with RAD is easier but not flexible.On the other hand,Agile project management techniques focus on flexibility,agility,teamwork and quality based on user stories.Continual user involvement is avoided,which requires extensive maintenance time for fixing iteration and release of the story points.This also makes it necessary to provide onsite training to the users of the application.This research provides the pros and cons of RAD and Agile project management techniques,to help students in deciding the best approach for managing their graduation projects.For the evaluation of these techniques,similar case studies were given to the senior project students(having similar CGPAs)for building similar functionality-based applications.The two projects“Life Organizer”developed and managed using RAD and“Smart Patient Assistant(SPA)”developed and managed through Agile methodology were evaluated against the quality assurance criteria for senior projects.The study found that the project developed with RAD methodology performed 13.33%better in providing extensive and elaborated documentation than the students following the Agile technique.On the other hand,SPA-Agile based project,due to teamwork had 2.5%better implementation than Life Organizer-RAD based project.

Optimizing Bidders Selection of Multi-Round Procurement Problem in Software Project Management Using Parallel Max-Min Ant System Algorithm

This paper presents a Game-theoretic optimization via Parallel Min-Max Ant System(PMMAS)algorithm is used in practice to determine the Nash equilibrium value to resolve the confusion in choosing appropriate bidders of multi-round procurement problem in software project management.To this end,we introduce an approach that proposes:(i)A Game-theoretic model of multiround procurement problem(ii)A Nash equilibrium strategy corresponds to multi-round strategy bid(iii)An application of PSO for the determination of global Nash equilibrium.The balance point in Nash Equilibrium can help to maintain a sustainable structure not only in terms of project management but also in terms of future cooperation.As an alternative of procuring entities subjectively,a methodology to support decision making has been studied using Nash equilibrium to create a balance point on benefit in procurement where buyers and suppliers need multiple rounds of bidding.Our goal focus on the balance point in Nash Equilibrium to optimizing bidder selection in multi-round procurement which is the most beneficial for both investors and selected tenderers.Our PMMAS algorithm is implemented based on MPI(message passing interface)to find the approximate optimal solution for the question of how to choose bidders and ensure a path for a win-win relationship of all participants in the procurement process.We also evaluate the speedup ratio and parallel efficiency between our algorithm and other proposed algorithms.As the experiment results,the high feasibility and effectiveness of the PMMAS algorithm are verified.

A Review on the Role of Risk Management (RM) and Value Engineering (VE) Tools for Project Successful Delivery

Both in developed and in developing countries, the construction industry is regarded as an economic investment activity without forgetting its significant relationship with national economic development due to its great contributions to the national gross domestic product (GDP) of the country. Concerning construction processes, both risk management (RM) and value engineering (VE) techniques have commonalities from the beginning up to the completion of the project due to enhancing the project value/quality, meeting the project deadline, and reducing overall project cost. VE includes resolving the uncertainty of project objectives and ensuring that the project is delivered in a value for money way. The key point of RM is to solve the uncertainty of the project itself and its results to ensure that the specifications are achieved within the prescribed time, cost, and quality constraints. This review work is comparatively and collectively focused on assessing the role of RM and VE tools for project successful delivery. It studies the points of difference and common features of the two aspects in terms of construction project delivery. So, this study concluded that in construction RM tool cannot be the chief aim of the all parties involved in the project execution because sometimes it produces itself negative results and reduces project management success. Therefore, RM needs a strong combination with VE due to the dependence of the target in identifying and assessing risks by considering the highest performance and lowest cost. The integration of RM and VE combination in a single study would avoid duplication of work and deliver better value for money thereby leading to better project outcomes.

Research on Teaching Mode of "Entrepreneurial Project Management" Course based on Flipped Classroom

Under the background of the era of “mass entrepreneurship and innovation”, innovation and entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities has been promoted to the focus of educational work. The establishment of self-improvement and entrepreneurship class in Wuhan University is an innovative education mode under the requirement of "Double Creation" education. The development of network information technology in the new era has given rise to the subversion and reform of teaching models. The appearance of flipped classrooms has broken the barrier of traditional education and provides a new train of thought for innovation and entrepreneurship teaching model reform in colleges and universities. This paper takes the self-improvement entrepreneurship class of Wuhan University as an example, introduces the flipped classroom into the course of "Entrepreneurial Project Management", and analyzes the application process of the flipped classroom in the course teaching from three aspects: before class, during class and after class, in order to provide a reference for the curriculum teaching reform and promote the teaching effect of innovation and entrepreneurship courses in colleges and universities.

Fourth Industrial Revolution: A Readiness Assessment of Project Managers in Tanzania

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) is transforming the way we live, learn, work, and relate to one another. However, there is still an awareness inadequacy of the 4IR among project managers and the society in Tanzania, thus low readiness to conceptualize, implement and manage 4IR-related projects in the country. This study aimed to assess the 4IR readiness of project managers in Tanzania. The assessment is made in the frame of 4 readiness dimensions: strategy and governance structure, technology awareness, human capital digital skills development, and social-economic impact. The research used a quantitative method with the diffusion of innovations theory perspective, and data were collected mainly through an online survey questionnaire. The survey aimed at answering the research question concerning the project managers’ readiness for the 4IR. The 50 valid samples were completed by project managers from various industries such as agriculture, finance, consulting, construction, education and training, government, healthcare, Information Technology, and manufacturing. Data were analysed using SPSS. The results revealed that despite the generally low awareness of 4IR, several project managers in Tanzania have some varying awareness of 4IR technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, blockchain, robotics, cryptocurrency, chatbots, drones, and other digital transformation platforms. The results also indicated that project managers in Tanzania had little extent in readiness to initiate, develop and implement 4IR products and services due to inadequate 4IR-related awareness, strategy and governance structure, human capital digital skills development, and social economic impact. Consequently, some recommendations are made in the frame of the four assessed readiness dimensions for improvement. The value of this research is mainly to provide the state of 4IR readiness of project managers and associated recommendations to policymakers, practitioners, academia, donors, business industry and youth in digital innovation. The study also contributes to the body of knowledge on 4IR, project management and digital transformation.
