A Study of English Translation Strategies of Subtitles of the Domestic Animated Film Chang’an from the Perspective of Eco-translatology

This article conducts an analysis and exploration of the English subtitles translation of the domestic animated film Chang’an from the perspective of eco-translatology.Taking three-dimensional transformation as the entry point,it analyzes the adaptation and selection of subtitle translators in the translation process from the dimensions of language,culture,and communication in Chang’an,aiming to enrich the practical analysis of eco-translatology and provide valuable insights and references for the theoretical construction and practical application of eco-translatology.This article enriches the practical analysis of eco-translatology and also validates to a certain extent the applicability of“three-dimensional”transformation.

Subtitle Translation From the Perspective of Eco-Translatology: A Case Study of China Bouquet

China Bouquet shows the uniqueness of Chinese culture from 20 perspectives, serving as an excellent work for disseminating Chinese culture to the world. This paper studies the documentary subtitle translation of China Bouquet from the perspective of eco-translatology. Through analyzing subtitle translation of China Bouquet from linguistic, cultural, and communicative dimensions, the paper aims to propose an effective way to translate and transform subtitles with Chinese characteristics.

Research on Translation Strategies of Political Texts for International Publicity from the Perspective of Eco-Translatology

Eco-translatology provides a new perspective and methodology for the international publicity translation of political texts.This paper applies the viewpoint and methodology of eco-translatology,focuses on the three-dimensional transformation of language,culture,and communication,and discusses how translators can adapt to the eco-environment of political texts through the specific example of the keynote speech of China’s president at the opening ceremony of the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and select suitable translation strategies and techniques to achieve an ecological balance of the target text in multiple dimensions.

A Comparative Analysis of the English Versions of Prelude to Water Melody in Light of Eco-Translatology

Eco-translatology is an original translation theory proposed by Hu Gengshen,a Chinese scholar.Su Shi’s masterpiecePrelude to Water Melody is a famous Chinese classic poetry.From the perspective of eco-translatology,the study tries to make acomparative analysis of two English versions of Prelude to Water Melody,based on some core concepts including environment oftranslation,central position of translator and three-dimensional transformation.Through comparative analysis,the study finds thatthe eco-env’ironment of two versions has different impacts on them,but both reflect the central position of translator well.And XuYuanchongs translation is easier for readers to accept in terms of linguistic and cultural dimensions,while Burton Watson’s translation can better reflect communicative intention.It is hoped that the study will shed some new light on the research of translationof Chinese classic poetry and more scholars will pay attention to eco-translatology.

A Brief Study of Hu Gengshen's Eco-Translatology:with the Comparison of Translation Ecology

Eco-translatology and Translation Ecology are two new aspects of translation study.They arise from the development of Ecology and the interdisciplinary tendency of translation studies.The present paper intends to make a clear introduction of the two branches of translation study and make a comparison based on the introductions in order to provide insights into these new perspectives to translation studies.The paper points out that they are different in terms of developing routes,naming principles,terminology,methodology,research pivot,etc.A conclusion is drawn that clarification of their relationship will provide insights into the two branches of translation study and Hu Gengshen's approach to translation as adaptation and selection adds a new dimension to translation study as an academic discipline.

With the continuous advancement of"the Belt and Road", the translation of traffic signs more reflects the urban civi?lization of Baotou than influences the travel quality of foreigners. The Dream of Red Mansion is a masterpiece with tremendous influence at home and abroad.The success of it depends largely on the promotion of its English versions.The most renown versions are the translation of The Story of the Stone by David Hawkes and the translation of The Dream of Red Mansion by Yang Xianyi.This thesis strives to make an analysis of the English versions of The Dream of Red Mansion under the guidance of eco-translatology,and to verify that eco-translatology has a strong explanatory power and guidance for relevant studies.This thesis makes a comparative analysis on the English versions of The Dream of Red Mansion from the perspective of the“Adaption and Selections”and the“Three Dimensional Transformation”and sums up how the translators make selective adaptations.

A Study on the Translation of Love in a Fallen City from the Perspective of Three Dimensional Transformation of Eco-Translatology

Love in a Fallen City is one of Eileen Chang’s representative works and translated by Karen Kingsbury.The ecological environment of translation restricts and influences the translator’s choice of translation strategies,methods and techniques in the process of translation.According to the eco-translatology,translation is a transformation from language dimension,culture dimension and communication dimension.This article analyzes the three-dimensional transformation between the source language and the target language in the English version of Love in a Fallen City,and holds that a good translation must be the translator’s effective adaptation to the ecological environment including the source language,the source culture and the target culture.

This paper, through the analysis and discussion ofthe E-C subtitles of Game of Thrones from the perspective of Eco-translatology, demonstrates that the approach of Translation as Adap-tation and Selection(TAS) proves to be operational in subtitle translation, and gives further recommendations in the communicativetransformation of subtitle translation.

The importance of an interdisciplinary investigation into the translation of publicity texts cannot be overestimated at a time when the role of international communication grows rapidly,which in turn pushes the development of globalization.Ecotranslatology takes the concept of"adaptation/selection"of Darwin’s Evolution Theory as its theoretical foundation,focusing on the integrity of the translation ecosystem,making a novel description and interpretation to the nature,process,standard,principles,methods of translation and translation phenomena from the perspective of Eco-translatology.Though the construct of the theory keeps expanding,there is still a lack of systematic discussion on translation activities with focus on the integrity and harmony in Eco-translatology.This study therefore aims to promote the need of researching publicity text translation from an Ecotranslatological perspective through the review of the existing literature in this field.

生态翻译学视角下中国儿童文学英译研究——以《稻草人》英译为例

儿童文学作为中华优秀传统文化的重要载体,对弘扬和传承中国传统文化具有不可替代的作用。近年来,我国儿童文学创作和出口呈现出蓬勃发展之势。《稻草人》是第一批被翻译为外文出版至海外的中国儿童文学作品。本文将基于生态翻译学视角对《稻草人》英译本进行研究,从中探寻中国儿童文学的译介模式,旨在讲好中国故事,助力中国文化“走出去”,坚定文化自信。

中央文献术语的“三维”特点及其英译研究

以中共中央编译局2015年和2016年发布的312条中央文献重要术语及其英译文为语料,运用生态翻译学理论分析其语言、文化和交际等“三维”特点及其英译。研究发现,语言层面主要使用短语术语和暗喻修辞格,文化层面彰显术语意义的相对单义性、交际层面凸显交际语义的精准性和严肃性等特点。对此主要运用“三维”兼顾的翻译方法,即直译、意译、译意、释义和解释性翻译等方法的综合运用。这对今后中央文献及其热词或关键词的翻译有一定的启迪作用。

生态翻译学“四生论”下的中国特色词翻译研究——以《习近平谈治国理政》(第四卷)外交篇为例

中国生态翻译学“四生论”立足于东方生态智慧,分为“尚生”“转生”“摄生”“化生”四种不同方法,是中国新时代翻译的代表理论。在数据和案例分析的基础上研究《习近平谈治国理政》第四卷外交篇(以下简称“外交篇”)4个主题的中国特色词翻译,发现“四生论”与中国特色词翻译的契合性:外交篇的翻译基调为“尚生”,并大量结合“摄生”以达到传递原语生态,“转生”和“化生”译出中国特色词的闪光点,升华文本生命。“四生论”能与中国特色词翻译相契合,传递源语生命,破除读者理解障碍,有利于构建新时代中国特色外交话语体系。
