In the first two seasons, the highest abundances of the main taxonomic groups of phytoplankton were detected towards the coastal stations, but for 2003, diatoms showed higher abundances towards the oceanic region. The ecological provinces (Pv) were the footprint of the zonation in the structure of the phytoplankton community;likewise, it was observed that the spectral shape was independent of the chlorophyll-a (mg·m-3). The effect of coastal upwelling south of Vizcaíno Bay favored the increase of phytoplankton cells. However, the composition of the community decreased in cells abundance and diversity due to the influence of the phenomenon called El Nino “débil” reported to the south of the California Current for the years 2002-03.展开更多

To assess the geographical distribution of Berberis species across the Karakoram Mountain Ranges in Pakistan, we used IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria (2001) to calculate the extent of occurrence (EOO, 〈100 km^2) and the area of occupancy (AOO, 〈10 km^2) of Berberis pseudumbellata subsp, pseudumbellata and B. pseudumbellata subsp. gilgitica. Overgrazing and habitat loss were key population- limiting factors. The two subspecies had contrasting responses to temperature, elevation, precipitation and insect susceptibility. B. pseudumbellata subsp, gilgitica is endemic to Gilgit-Baltistan and grows in single-cropping zone (ar- eas 〉 200 m a.s.1.). Status evaluation revealed that both subspecies meet the criteria set for critically endangered species. Prolonged disregard of its declining population trend might lead to its extinction; therefore, integrated con- servation efforts are necessary.展开更多

On the basis of surveying ecological environment and social economic environment of the general mains and the south mains, with a total length of 220km, and analyzing surface run off loss of water and soil, the covering rates of vegetation, animal kinds and other main ecological factors, combined construction scales and properties of diversion water project, calculated the ecological value of different zones using the Euclidean distance and gave the comprehensive assessment to existing ecological environmental quality. Finally, ecological environmental problems caused by project construction activities were discussed.展开更多
