Proposed in 1970 by Freire, critical literacy has attracted many scholars emerging in this field, such as Lankshear,Mclaren, Luke, Halliday, Wallace etc. From balancing social inequalities to a pedagogical approach in second language teaching, critical literacy is no longer an unfamiliar concept in daily life. To clarify how critical literacy is applied in news media, this papers focuses on two parts. Firstly, it briefly introduces the theoretical framework of critical literacy aroused in the past 40 years, and how it is implemented in children's literature. With the use of Bean and Moni's framework, a discussion of The Ballad Mulan(from Chinese history 386-581) and Disney's animated feature film Mulan(1998) puts an emphasis on the character construction and power relations. Certain aspects will be carefully analyzed, such as the powerful teenagers and weak adults, the effect of sociocultural and ideological factors in the language used in different medias, the gender identities, etc. 展开更多

In a clinical situation, repair of distal peripheral nerve defects can present a major challenge to neurosurgenns. Construction of tissue-engineered nerves is a novel solution for repairing peripheral nerve defects. The sciatic nerve is the largest peripheral nerve in the body and is known to have a relatively constant anatomical position, sufficient diameter to be easily exposed and operated upon with good repeatability, satisfactory local blood circulation, and is difficult to infect. Owing to these advantages, rat models of sciatic nerve defects are commonly used to study nerve regeneration and repair. 展开更多

Following spinal cord injury, nerve repair is difficult due to limited regenerative potential of the central nervous system and inability of oli- godendrocytes to guide axonal growth. Several factors pose a challenge for neural regeneration following spinal cord injury. First, glial scars and cavities, which form after spinal cord injury, hinder axonal growth and result in degenerative necrosis of the nerve fibers. Second. 展开更多

Neural stem cells transplantation plays an important role in repair and cell replacement therapy for nervous system degenerative diseases. However, the self-repair effects are minimal because of a limited absolute number, as well as the local microenvironment, post-transplantation. A combined treatment utilizing stem cell transplantation and gone therapy can exert a dual effect involving stem cells and neurotrophic factors. The adenovirus carrier is 展开更多

Microglia cells are phagocytic cells present in the retina. In the retina of glaucoma rat models, microglia cells become activated, which suggests a role for microglia in the pathogenesis of optic nerve injury in glaucoma patients. The retinal ganglion cell is the only cell that can produce action potential in the retina, 展开更多
