This paper presents a comparative analysis of the International Baccalaureate(IB)and the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level(A-Level),two international educational assessment systems.The study explores their similarities and differences in educational philosophy,curriculum design,assessment methods,and student experience.Findings indicate that the IB curriculum emphasizes holistic education and interdisciplinary learning,while the A-Level curriculum focuses more on subject depth and specialization.In terms of assessment methods,the IB combines internal and external evaluations,whereas the A-Level primarily relies on final examinations.Regarding student experience,IB students typically perceive a broader range of learning opportunities,while A-Level students gain in-depth knowledge in specific subject areas.The study offers valuable insights for educators and policymakers to improve educational practices and support the personalized development of students. 展开更多

To solve the teaching difficulties,including hard cultivating engineering thinking,a reasonable transition of professional training,and deep cooperation of students,which impeded the cultivation effectiveness of students’ability to solve complex engineering problems,the paper proposed a Zongheng group teaching model of curriculum cluster based on projects.Firstly,from the perspective of Metaverse,and considering the professional,current teaching situation and learning situation,we analyzed the professional background and proposed the Zongheng group teaching model of curriculum cluster.Then,the connotation,teaching construction and implementation details are explained.After that,we summarized the teaching effect about the 2 years of exploration and practice in the major of software engineering at College of Computer and Information Technology in Mudanjiang Normal University,to clarify the effect of teaching reform.2 years of teaching practice shows that making full use of the advantages of curriculum cluster,Zongheng group and the project-based teaching method,the long-range training,in-depth student cooperation,and the students’ability of solving complex engineering problems are improved. 展开更多

This paper examines the effect on rates of achievement of the interaction of student gender and school socioeconomic status, using ordinary least squares and probit regressions. The data used is school achievement by students taking externally assessed accounting standards in their final year at New Zealand secondary schools, and covers the period 2004 to 2008. The paper concludes that the interaction of gender and school decile have a significant impact on achievement rates for Maori, Pacific Island and Asian girls relative to Maori, Pacific Island and Asian boys in low decile schools. A secondary contribution of this paper is to demonstrate that comparing the achievement of gender or socioeconomic status groups in isolation is insufficient when examining academic performance and evaluating subject curriculum. Interactions between variables need to be considered, whether they be gender and decile as this paper examines, or other variables not examined within this paper. 展开更多

According to the general requirement of the engineering education professional certification and aiming at the problem of how to develop undergraduates with the ability to solve complex engineering problems by teaching research and curriculum construction,a new effective teaching model is built by analyzing the relationship between BOPPPS and effective teaching.Our contributions are as follows:we combine professional training objectives with curriculum characteristics,focus on the importance of participating in the main position of students in learning,and emphasize that students’participatory interaction and feedback and diversified assessment methods for evaluation are adopted to focus on the development and improvement of the comprehensive quality of students and classroom teaching quality and teaching effect to ensure the effectiveness of teaching.The practice in the Oracle database course proves that the teaching mode proposed in this paper can effectively improve the teaching effect,and it plays a positive role in strengthening students’practical abilities to solve practical engineering problems. 展开更多

This paper reports the design,implementation,and experimental phases of the EU H2020 QualiChain pilot“Staffing the Public Sector—The Case of Portugal”.The overall purpose of this pilot is to ensure the authenticity and integrity of the diplomas for all involved stakeholders and therefore to contribute to solving the diploma counterfeiting and/or falsification that is a great threat to the recruitment of qualified personnel.The main innovative aspect of this solution is the integration that is offered between an Academic Management System(the Fenix.edu platform)and a Blockchain(Ethereum)to automatically deploy diplomas.This solution helps the involved stakeholders trust the diplomas provided.The case study involves four different stakeholders and studies,specifically,the increase in their satisfaction in terms of diploma control,diploma veracity,and diploma credibility.The developed system was tested with external participants who were asked to follow a set of guidelines and complete a survey to assess their perceptions.All system interactions were recorded,and the data were analyzed.The results indicated that the participants successfully executed the guidelines and that a perception increase toward diploma control,veracity,and credibility was identified. 展开更多
