Educational philosophy exists in three forms： philosophy of professional education, philosophy of public education, and philosophy of personal education, which are interrelated with their own unique features. Enlightenment： this knowledge helps avoid misunderstanding of educational philosophy, which is not only a type of theoretical philosophy, but also a practical philosophy; teachers need to construct a proper philosophy of personal education of their own and enhance their professionalism and specialism while improving their humanistic quality and professional sentiment; great efforts should be made to create an educational community to exert the influence of philosophy of public education, and to promote the healthy development of educational activities.

Revisiting Educational Issues in the Age of Generative Artificial Intelligence

The emergence of generative artificial intelligence(AI)has had a huge impact on all areas of life,including the field of education.AI can assist teachers in cultivating talents and promoting personalized learning and teaching,but it also prevents individuals from thinking independently and creatively.In the era of generative AI,the rapid development of technology and its significant impact on the field of education are inevitable.There are many educational issues related to it,such as teaching methods,student training goals,teaching philosophy and purposes,and other educational issues,that require re-conceptualization and review.

Dewey and Tao Xingzhi’s Educational Philosophy and Contemporary Interpretation

Tao Xingzhi was a student of American educator John Dewey.He generally absorbed Dewey’s educational philosophy in educational theory and practice,and carried out reforms and innovations based on the actual situation in China.Thus he formed his own peculiar“life education”theory.There are fundamental differences between Tao Xingzhi and Dewey in educational philosophy.Tao Xingzhi’s educational thought is based on real life and realistic materialistic educational view;Dewey’s educational thought is an idealistic educational thought based on personal life and subjective experience.The comparison of Tao Xingzhi’s and Dewey’s educational concepts has important practical significance for whether Tao Xingzhi’s educational concept can be accurately evaluated and used for reference in practice.The international education competition in the 21st century is not only the competition of economic forces,but also the competition of social productive forces.Essentially,it’s a technological power race.However,the key to rapidly transforming technology into productivity is universal access to education.

Rousseau's Philosophy of Education's Impact on American Elementary and Secondary Education

Jean-Jacques Rousseau is one of the most important philosophers,writers and composers in the 18th-century Enlightenment.His philosophy of education presented in his treatise,Emile,has been influential,and largely for good.Through the analysis of Rousseau' s philosophy of education and American education ideas in the elementary and secondary schools,this paper argues that Rousseau' s Philosophy of education has a great impact on American elementary and secondary education because it stresses the physical and emotional development of the child,the importance of a progressive education adapted to the individuals and the teacher must understand the child.

Conceptions of Childhood and the Educational Rights of the Child

Formulations of children＇s rights rest on assumptions about the nature of childhood yet conceptions of childhood are not stable across time and space. Such conceptions can be understood as placing different emphases among three different factors： the child as subservient to parents and ancestors （Child 1）, as a young person requiring special protection and having characteristics distinct from adults （Child 2） and as a novice （Child 3）. Different social arrangements place relatively different emphases on these three factors in their overall conceptions of childhood. Adopting the distinction between Will and Interest rights （Archard 2002）, the paper considers how an emphasis on Child 1, 2 or 3 presupposes and demands a distinctive consideration of children＇s rights. The argument concludes with a reflection on how children＇s rights might be construed if the nature of adulthood is problematised alongside that of childhood. In this case, capabilities （as means to enable functionings） may prove a more fruitful concept than rights （as actual or possible existential conditions）.

The Philosophy of Social Segregation in Israel＇s Democratic Schools

Democratic private schools in Israel are a part of the neo-liberal discourse. They champion the dialogic philosophy associated with its most prominent advocates--Martin Buber, Emmanuel Levinas---together with Paulo Freire＇s critical pedagogy, the humanistic psychology propounded by Carl Rogers, Nel Noddings＇s pedagogy of care and concern, and even Gadamer＇s integrative hermeneutic perspective. Democratic schools form one of the greatest challenges to State education and most vocal and active critique of the focus conservative education places on exams and achievement. This article describes the dual discourse connected to the schools. The first is the inner dialogical, which is devoted to student freedom and progress, the child being placed at the center. The second is the exterior discourse, which represents the school as a place of counter-education that provides personal and group development and comprises a site of liberty and choice. The schools in Israel are described as test case and indicating the existence of a sophisticated form of deception via the use of alluring terminology. The democratic private schools should be recognized for what they really are--agents of commodification that undermine democracy rather than enhance it.

A Critical Analysis of the Educational Impact of Steve Fuller＇s Social Epistemology

In this paper, I examine Steve Fuller＇s ＂sociological＂ social epistemology that must be distinguished from its ＂philosophical＂ counterpart. Fuller＇s sociological social epistemology can prompt deep philosophical analyses of the conditions for knowledge that themselves bear on what should count as knowledge. That is, it can be a vital prelude to developing an interdisciplinary investigation into educational issues. This paper looks at the three features that form an integral part of Fuller＇s social epistemology, which is partly elucidatory and partly critical： naturalistic, normative, and organizational aspects. It goes on to explore whether and to what extent Fuller＇s criticism of an ＂always already＂ thesis in philosophy and his idea of ＂knowledge management＂ afford an understanding of human knowledge in particular and human development in general. This paper concludes with an observation that Fuller＇s social epistemology is flawed in some respects but nonetheless is of relevance to the philosophical study of education.

Educational philosophy in China:a centennial retrospect and prospect

Educational philosophy in China during the 20th century started with the introduction of John Dewey’s educational philosophy thoughts,followed by the dissemination of Marxism thoughts of education,and initially established the framework of educational philosophy as an academic discipline.After the foundation of the People’s Republic of China in 1949,especially during the 1980s,under the guidance of Marxism,the discipline of educational philosophy has been maturing.While exploring China’s history of educational philosophy,this article also covers contemporary Western development.Future trends of this discipline include extending specific fields of research,increasing internationalization of research,enhancing the functions of both critique and guiding ideals of educational philosophy.

An Analysis of Teachers’Reflections on Schiro’s Classification of Curriculum Ideologies

This research was carried out to determine which ideology teachers are closer to,by evaluating teachers’opinions on curriculum in terms of the"scholar academic ideology,"social efficiency ideology","learner-centered ideology",and"social reconstruction ideology".It is a qualitative research.The sample of the research consists of 15 teachers working in primary,secondary,and high schools.The research data were obtained from nine open-ended questions supported by sub-questions added to each.It has been observed that the teachers define the purpose of education,the source of knowledge,the definition of learning,the purpose of teaching,the purpose of student assessment,the evaluation of the program,the understanding of formative and summative evaluation of curriculum according to the"social efficiency ideology"from Schiro’s ideological classification.Teachers have also defined the source of knowledge,the definition of learning,and the purpose of teaching and student assessment according to"scholar academic ideology".In the results of the research,it was seen that the opinions of the teachers were influenced,albeit slightly,by the"learner-centered ideology"in evaluating students and determining the needs of the program.In light of these results,it is evident that teachers’philosophical opinions need to be strengthened.
