Service-Learning Practices and Reflections in the Perspective of Nel Noddings’Theory of Caring Education:The“Care for the Elderly”Service-Learning Program as an Example

Nel Noddings’ethics of care is an important lineage of Western moral education thought,which contains deep humanistic values.Service-learning advocates the equal importance of service and learning,and emphasizes more on the discovery of educational connotations in practice.Based on the social background of aging,this paper takes the“Care for the Elderly”service-learning program as an example,attempts to take the care ethics as the entry point,adopts interviews,questionnaires,and other research methods,and opens-up the service-learning practice path under the threshold of Nel Noddings’care education theory.

Constructivism and bilingual education

Bilingual education is one of Chinese education directions in the 21st century. And constructivism is the educational foundation of bilingual education. This paper presents a study of teaching theory and the pattern of bilingual education. The current situation and the development of bilingual education are discussed as well.

Educational Situation： Some Preliminary Remarks on a Basic Concept of Education Studies

When educationalists are asked to define their own academic discipline of Education Studies, they often struggle to reach a common understanding. From an epistemological point of view, this indeterminacy leads back to the complex considerations involved in establishing a basic concept of education. In this article, the author explores in a preliminary fashion the possibility of identifying the essence of education in its performativity as an occurrence in context that always precedes and supersedes our theoretical considerations of it. Education is not to be understood primarily as something conceptual （theory） but rather in terms of its significance as a situational event （reality）. Educational reality thus informs educational theory and this relationship implies a knowledge-ethical surplus of the former as an inexhaustible source for the latter.

The Reform Path of Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Universities Under the Integration of Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Universities,Middle Schools,and Primary Schools

The integration of ideological and political theory courses in primary and secondary schools needs to be based on a certain theoretical foundation and follow the necessary principles of teaching practice.In the teaching of ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities,there are practical problems such as“cross-duplication of teaching materials”,“unreasonable application of teaching methods”,and“evaluation of teaching integration”.This paper is based on solving the practical problems of“cross-duplication of textbook contents”,“unreasonable application of teaching methods”,and“evaluation of teaching integration”in the teaching of ideological and political theory studies in colleges and universities under the integration,and proposes to use the textbook as a carrier for the integration of teaching contents and to make the teaching of Civic and Political Studies in colleges and universities more efficient.We put forward the“three teaching and three reforms”teaching reforms,such as the integrated reform of teaching contents carried by teaching materials,the integrated reform of teaching methods oriented to students,and the integrated reform of teaching evaluation based on the concept of OBE(Outcome Based Education),with a view to solving the teaching problems in the integrated reform of ideological and political theory courses in universities.

Education:a discipline or a field?

Historically,scholars have made unfailing efforts to position education as a standard science,but no solid success has been achieved regardless of the positivistic paradigm,quantitative approaches,or value-free neutral stances they adopted.In China,scholars have set up a socalled“three independency”standard for the scientific study of education,but it has been finally proved invalid in practice.As interdisciplines permeate the field of education,education experiences a crisis of being colonized.After serious rethinking,interdisciplines were widely believed to do more good than harm to education.Therefore,education is beginning to transform from a“colony”to an“empire”.In this transformation,education finds it necessary to break the traditional disciplinary boundaries and make it a field in which interdisciplinary communication is contributory to the enrichment of scholarship.

The Role of Teachers’Apperception in Herbart’s Theory for Chinese Teaching in Shenzhen Primary Schools of China

This paper deeply analyzes the practical application of Herbart’s educational concept in contemporary education and teaching,especially its guiding significance to the primary school Chinese classroom in Shenzhen area.Herbart proposed that teachers should play a key role in students’cognitive process,that is,help students better understand and master new knowledge by combining it with existing knowledge.The survey results show that although teachers have some understanding of Herbart’s educational philosophy,it is not widely used in the concrete teaching process.However,the study also shows that there is a positive relationship between Herbart’s theory and students’academic performance,indicating that it plays an important role in improving students’interest and engagement in learning.The research also reveals the differences between educational concepts and practices,as well as the uneven distribution of educational resources,and puts forward measures to alleviate these contradictions,such as strengthening teacher training,improving teaching methods,and emphasizing moral education.At the same time,the study also highlights the critical role of teachers in promoting knowledge integration,arousing learning enthusiasm,shaping students’moral character,and promoting personal and professional growth.
