The conclusions are as follows: (1) in educational production function, output elasticity of public educational expenditure exceeds private educational expenditure's. The degrees of contribution of public and private educational expenditure reflect that China should increase public educational expenditure. (2) regional educational technical efficiency is affected by both structure of educational expenditure and levels of regional economic growth. However, it became outda...Background: As the deep influence of traditional medical education, many undergraduate nursing colleges and universities in China still keep the traditional disease-focused curriculum system. However, it became outdated as the Chinese high nursing education developed. Meanwhile, the increasing demand of nursing human resources stimulates the enrollment expansion of colleges. All of these bring more difficulties and opportunities for nurse educators who are endeavoring to reform the undergraduate curriculum. Methods: The authors retrospectively reviewed the related literature, illustrated the existing challenges and opportunities during the curriculum renewal process in China. This paper also analyzed the ten- dencies of Chinese baccalaureate curriculum innovation. Results: Chinese current undergraduate nursing curriculum has larger proportion of basic medical courses, which brings great challenge for nursing educators. In the meantime, the expansion of enroll- ment brings conflicts with existing nursing education resources in China. Integration, humanization, internationalization and diversification are main tendencies leading the future nursing curriculum innovation in China. Conclusions: The more effective teaching innovations in the nursing education system are in great demand.展开更多
Objective:To explore the influence of applying educational animated film as continuous post-discharge rehabilitation guidance for patients after total hip arthroplasty(THA).Methods:Sixty patients discharged after ...Objective:To explore the influence of applying educational animated film as continuous post-discharge rehabilitation guidance for patients after total hip arthroplasty(THA).Methods:Sixty patients discharged after THA were randomly divided into two groups.Traditional methods,such as distributing manuals of rehabilitation guidance on THA and phone call follow-ups,were adopted in the control group,whereas educational animated film was used as continuous rehabilitation guidance after discharge in the experimental group.Differences in recovery of hip joint function,accuracy of functional exercise,mastery of rehabilitation knowledge and quality of life between the two groups were compared.Results:The experimental group had superior performance on all indicators compared to the control group(P〈0.05).Conclusions:The use of educational animated film as continuous post-discharge rehabilitation guidance in patients after THA achieved better effects than traditional education methods.展开更多

Some transitioned from face-to-face instruction to online instruction. The aim of this study is to investigate the perceptions of both the instructors and the students as regards second language acquisition through online education at a rural university. The study was implemented in the context of teaching and learning English as a second language in an online education environment. The course material is based on The Net Languages Learning Platform, which is available at http://ide.yok.gov.tr/, and the course level is general English pre-elementary. Both quantitative and qualitative methods were used in this study. For quantitative data collection, a questionnaire was employed to understand the reasons for low student attendance on online courses. For qualitative research method, observation was carried out, and interviews are designed as data collection techniques. Purposive selection was used for selection of the participants. The findings revealed that online education needs to be modified. The students are eager to improve their second language competencies; however, they do not want to waste their time on an easy course level.展开更多
Are we riding the fourth wave of democracy,as predicted by Toffler(1984)and Huntington(1991),a post-capitalist,post-global wave?Western liberal democracy is currently responding to the dramatic change in the economic ...Are we riding the fourth wave of democracy,as predicted by Toffler(1984)and Huntington(1991),a post-capitalist,post-global wave?Western liberal democracy is currently responding to the dramatic change in the economic system after capitalism,the coronavirus pandemic,and the growing power of nationalist and fundamentalist ideologies.Does this process indicates a change in Western democracy or is it the end of democracy and what is the role of civic education within it?In Israel,as in other Western countries,the nationalist and fundamentalist ideologies(gained strength,undermining liberalism)threaten the conception of global citizenship and strive to shape a model of an illiberal democracy.In Israel,contrary to other Western countries,they also threaten civic equality and the very existence of the democratic rule.In the absence of a constitution and consensus,Israel is experiencing culture and religious war over values,identity and the concept of“citizenship”as a legal,political,and social framework.Thus,the struggle over civic education reflects the struggle over educational hegemony,as well as over national hegemony.In this process,nationalists and fundamentalists initiate anti-democratic legislation,violate human rights,obstruct government supervisory mechanisms,and expand ideological education in order to change Israel‟s character to a Jewish state rather than a Jewish and democratic state.展开更多

Physical education teacher education(PETE)programs prepare teacher candidates to be competent and employed in P-12 school settings.This study examined the relationship between competency and first-year job obtainment ...Physical education teacher education(PETE)programs prepare teacher candidates to be competent and employed in P-12 school settings.This study examined the relationship between competency and first-year job obtainment in physical education(PE).Participants included 111 teacher candidates from two schools.Participants'competency in content knowledge in Kinesiology and sub-disciplines(CKKH),content knowledge in sport and skill proficiency(CKSP),pedagogical content knowledge(PCK),and first-year job obtainment in PE were collected.Descriptive statistics,independent-samples t tests,and multiple logistic regressions were used to analyze the data.The overall sample showed participants were most competent in PCK,followed by CKSP and CKKH.Female participants were more competent in PCK than their male counterparts,and those at School A performed better in CKSP and PCK than their peers at School B.As a sample,more than half of the participants(55.9%)obtained PE jobs.There was a significance between the overall sample and female participants'competency in CKKH and their first-year employment in PE.This study was limited by sample size,variances in courses between the two schools,and by the defined timeline to clarify first-year PE employment.Implications regarding the importance of CKKH and first-year employment were discussed.展开更多
