This paper proposes the operation principle and a new flux estimation method for sensorless control strategy for the dual-fed flux modulated electric motor(DFFM).The DFFM is designed based on the flux modulation theory,it includes two stator windings and one rotor which simplify the mechanical structure.The rotor has only modulation iron and no permanent magnets on it,so there is no cogging torque problem in this motor.With adjustment of the outer and inner stator flux rotating frequency and amplitude,different rotation speed and torque of the sandwiched rotor can be gained for the DFFM.Furthermore,an improved flux estimation based sensorless control strategy is performed on the proposed machine to fit the two winding set control situation.The startup and performance of the proposed control strategy is verified by the simulation and experiments. 展开更多

Thermal stability and electrical transport properties of Ge/Sn-codoped single crystalline β-Zn4Sb3 prepared by the Sn-flux method

The prepared samples... This study prepares a group of single crystalline β-Zn_4Sb_3 with Ge and Sn codoped by the Sn-flux method according to the nominal stoichiometric ratios of Zn_(4.4)Sb_3 Ge_xSn_3(x = 0–0.15). The prepared samples possess a metallic luster surface with perfect appearance and large crystal sizes. The microscopic cracks or defects are invisible in the samples from the back-scattered electron image. Except for the heavily Ge-doped sample of x = 0.15, all the samples are single phase with space group R3c. The thermal analysis results show that the samples doped with Ge exhibit an excellent thermal stability.Compared with the polycrystalline Ge-substituted β-Zn_4Sb_3, the present single crystals have higher carrier mobility, and hence the electrical conductivity is improved, which reaches 7.48×10~4S·m^(-1) at room temperature for the x = 0.1 sample.The change of Ge and Sn contents does not improve the Seebeck coefficient significantly. Benefiting from the increased electrical conductivity, the sample with x = 0.075 gets the highest power factor of 1.45×10^(-3)W·m^(-1)·K^(-2) at 543 K. 展开更多

Purpose–During the construction process of the China Railway Track System(CRTS)I type filling layer,the nonwoven fabric bags have been used as grouting templates for cement asphalt(CA)emulsified mortar.The porous structure of nonwoven fabrics endowed the templates with breathability and water permeability.The standard requires that the volume expansion rate of CA mortar must be controlled within 1%–3%,which can generate expansion pressure to ensure that the cavities under track slabs are filled fully.However,the expansion pressure caused some of the water to seep out from the periphery of the filling bag,and it would affect the actual mix proportion of CA mortar.The differences in physical and mechanical properties between the CA mortar under track slabs and the CA mortar formed in the laboratory were studied in this paper.The relevant results could provide important methods for the research of filling layer materials for CRTS I type and other types of ballastless tracks in China.Design/methodology/approach–During the inspection of filling layer,the samples of CA mortar from different working conditions and raw materials were taken by uncovering the track slabs and drilling cores.The physical and mechanical properties of CA mortar under the filling layer of the slab were systematically analyzed by testing the electrical flux,compressive strength and density of mortar in different parts of the filling layer.Findings–In this paper,the electric flux,the physical properties and mechanical properties of different parts of CA mortar under the track slab were investigated.The results showed that the density,electric flux and compressive strength of CA mortar were affected by the composition of raw materials for dry powders and different parts of the filling layer.In addition,the electrical flux of CA mortar gradually decreased within 90 days’age.The electrical flux of samples with the thickness of 54 mm was lower than 500 C.Therefore,the impermeability and durability of CA mortar could be improved by increasing the thickness of filling layer.Besides,the results showed that the compressive strength of CA mortar increased,while the density and electric flux decreased gradually,with the prolongation of hardening time.Originality/value–During 90 days’age,the electrical flux of the CA mortar gradually decreased with the increase of specimen thickness and the electrical flux of the specimens with the thickness of 54 mm was lower than 500 C.The impermeability and durability of the CA mortar could be improved by increasing the thickness of filling layer.The proposed method can provide reference for the further development and improvement of CRTS I and CRTS II type ballastless track in China. 展开更多

The thermoelectric energy conversion technique by employing the Disk-Magnet Electromagnetic Induction (DM-EMI) and improved DM-EMIs is shown, and possible applications to heat engines as one of the energy harvesting technologies are also discussed. The idea is induced by integrating irreversible thermodynamical mechanism of a water drinking bird with that of a Stirling engine, resulting in thermoelectric energy generation different from conventional heat engines. The current thermoelectric energy conversion with DM-EMI can be applied to wide ranges of temperature differences. The mechanism of DM-EMI energy converter is examined in terms of axial flux magnetic lines and categorized as the axial flux generator. It is useful for practical applications to macroscopic heat engines such as wind, geothermal, thermal and nuclear power turbines and heat-dissipation lines, for supporting thermoelectric energy conversions. The technique of DM-EMI will contribute to environmental problems to maintain clean and susceptible energy as one of the energy harvesting technologies. 展开更多

An over-modulation based vector control strategy for interior permanent magnet synchronous machine( IPMSM) is proposed and investigated. The strategy increases the reference flux weakening voltage to improve efficiency in flux weakening region of IPMSMwith the same dynamic torque response performance in standard SV Mtechnique. The relationship between dynamic torque performance and the reference flux weakening voltage is also discussed. In order to achieve fast and smooth shift process,the torque response must be less than 20 ms in the parallel hybrid electric vehicle( HEV),according to this,modeling and experimental studies were carried out. The results show that the proposed strategy can achieve the same dynamic and steady state torque performance with higher reference flux weakening voltage,which means higher efficiency. 展开更多

This paper deals with the mechanical properties and permeability of mortar modified with Metakaolin. Comparisons were made to normal mortar without metakaolin in order to determine its influence of addition and replacement percentage. Cement was replaced on a mass basis of 5%~20% for metakaolin. The permeability determined by the electric flux and water absorption was investigated as well as mechanical properties. Technique of Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was employed to characterize the microstructure of the new mortar system. The experimental results obtained reveal that Metakaolin contributed to lower the water absorption rate and the electric flux and yield a good mechanical property. Moreover,there exists an optimal displacement percentage of metakaolin,15%,in the mortar system. SEM pictures illustrate that Metakaolin makes mortar more compacted. Evidence can be given that Metakaolin can be applied to protect the steel reinforcement of concrete from corrosion. 展开更多
