The rectangular wire winding AC electrical machine has drawn extensive attention due to their high slot fill factor,good heat dissipation,strong rigidity and short end-windings,which can be potential candidates for some traction application so as to enhance torque density,improve efficiency,decrease vibration and weaken noise,etc.In this paper,based on the complex process craft and the electromagnetic performance,a comprehensive and systematical overview on the rectangular wire windings AC electrical machine is introduced.According to the process craft,the different type of the rectangular wire windings,the different inserting direction of the rectangular wire windings and the insulation structure have been compared and analyzed.Furthermore,the detailed rectangular wire windings connection is researched and the general design guideline has been concluded.Especially,the performance of rectangular wire windings AC machine has been presented,with emphasis on the measure of improving the bigger AC copper losses at the high speed condition due to the distinguished proximity and skin effects.Finally,the future trend of the rectangular wire windings AC electrical machine is prospected. 展开更多

To address the significant lifecycle degradation and inadequate state of charge(SOC)balance of electric vehicles(EVs)when mitigating wind power fluctuations,a dynamic grouping control strategy is proposed for EVs based on an improved k-means algorithm.First,a swing door trending(SDT)algorithm based on compression result feedback was designed to extract the feature data points of wind power.The gating coefficient of the SDT was adjusted based on the compression ratio and deviation,enabling the acquisition of grid-connected wind power signals through linear interpolation.Second,a novel algorithm called IDOA-KM is proposed,which utilizes the Improved Dingo Optimization Algorithm(IDOA)to optimize the clustering centers of the k-means algorithm,aiming to address its dependence and sensitivity on the initial centers.The EVs were categorized into priority charging,standby,and priority discharging groups using the IDOA-KM.Finally,an two-layer power distribution scheme for EVs was devised.The upper layer determines the charging/discharging sequences of the three EV groups and their corresponding power signals.The lower layer allocates power signals to each EV based on the maximum charging/discharging power or SOC equalization principles.The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy in accurately tracking grid power signals,smoothing wind power fluctuations,mitigating EV degradation,and enhancing the SOC balance. 展开更多

Electric vehicles (EVs) are the most interesting and innovative technology in the 21st century because of theirenormous advantages, both technically and economically. Their emissions rate compared to fuel-based vehicles isnegligible as they do not consume fuel and hence do not emit any harmful gases. However, their bulk production,adoption and lack of charging stations increase the stress of power stations due to modern-day lifestyles. If Electricvehicles demand increases drastically then conventional power stations will not bear their demand and if theygenerate electricity by conventional means it will be very costly and may further add greenhouse gases. Therefore,this research provides the techno-economic assessment of a stand-alone renewable-dependent electric vehiclecharging station, excluding any burden on electrical utility. The proposed study is carried out in Bahria Town,Karachi, a city in Pakistan. In this study, HOMER Pro software was utilized for techno-economic assessment. Ahybrid system comprising solar Photovoltaic/Wind Turbine/Fuel cells and battery storage is included in the model.Solar and wind resources were taken from NASA’s website, where charging stations will be integrated. The overallresults show promising in terms of total Net Present Cost and the Cost of Energy which are 2.72M $ and 0.237 $,respectively. The total system generation is 3,598 Megawatt hours per year, and the total energy consumption is 885Megawatt hours per year. 展开更多

The contribution of aerodynamic noise can be divided into two categories: inflow turbulence and airfoil self-noise. The base model and retrofit blade designs were modeled in SolidWorks. Subsequently, noise prediction simulations were conducted and compared to the base blade model to determine which modification provided the greatest benefit using SolidWorks Flow Simulation. The result of this project is a series of blade retrofit recommendations that produce a more acoustically efficient design and reduce noise complaints while enabling turbines to be placed in locations that require quieter operations. 展开更多

Wind power,solar power,and electrical load forecasting are essential works to ensure the safe and stable operation of the electric power system.With the increasing permeability of new energy and the rising demand response load,the uncertainty on the production and load sides are both increased,bringing new challenges to the forecasting work and putting forward higher requirements to the forecasting accuracy.Most review/survey papers focus on one specific forecasting object(wind,solar,or load),a few involve the above two or three objects,but the forecasting objects are surveyed separately.Some papers predict at least two kinds of objects simultaneously to cope with the increasing uncertainty at both production and load sides.However,there is no corresponding review at present.Hence,our study provides a comprehensive review of wind,solar,and electrical load forecasting methods.Furthermore,the survey of Numerical Weather Prediction wind speed/irradiance correction methods is also included in this manuscript.Challenges and future research directions are discussed at last. 展开更多

Based on the idea that a large number of charged particles can be generated by a high-frequency alternating current(AC)dielectric barrier discharge(DBD),and charged particles can be accelerated directionally by a direct current(DC)electric field,a new type of ionic wind formation method is proposed in this paper.To this end,a carbon fiber spiral electrode serves as the generation electrode and a metal rod electrode as the collection electrode,with AC and DC potentials applied respectively to the generation electrode and the collection electrode to form an AC-DC coupled electric field.Under the action of the coupled electric field,a dielectric barrier discharge is formed on the carbon fiber spiral electrode,and the electrons generated by the discharge move from the generation electrode to the collection electrode in the opposite direction of the electric field vectors.During the movement,energy is transferred to the gas molecules by their colliding with neutral gas molecules,thereby forming a directional gas stream movement,i.e.ionic wind.In the research process,it is verified through electric field simulation analysis and discharge experiment that this method can effectively increase the number of charged particles in the discharge process,and the velocity of the ionic wind is nearly doubled.On this basis,the addition of a third electrode forms a distinct discharge region and an electron acceleration region,which further increases its velocity.The experimental result shows that the ionic wind speed reaches up to 2.98 m s^?1.Thanks to the ability of the electrode structure to generate an atmospheric pressure DBD plasma and form an ionic wind,we can create a noise-free air purification device without resorting to a fan,with this device having good application prospects in the field of air purification. 展开更多

To solve the severe problem of wind power curtailment in the winter heating period caused by "power determined by heat" operation constraint of cogeneration units, this paper analyzes thermoelectric load, wind power output distribution and fluctuation characteristics at different time scales, and finally proposes a two level coordinated control strategy based on electric heat storage and pumped storage. The optimization target of the first level coordinated control is the lowest operation cost and the largest wind power utilization rate. Based on prediction of thermoelectric load and wind power, the operation economy of the system and wind power accommodation level are improved with the cooperation of electric heat storage and pumped storage in regulation capacity. The second level coordinated control stabilizes wind power real time fluctuations by cooperating electric heat storage and pumped storage in control speed. The example results of actual wind farms in Jiuquan, Gansu verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed coordinated control strategy. 展开更多

This research proposes a new offshore wind energy generation system that uses a tension leg platform (TLP) and describes experiments performed on a TLP type wind turbine in both waves and wind. The following conclusions can be made from the results of this research. 1) In the case of coexisting wave-wind fields, the wind effect stabilizes the pitch motion. 2) The wind effect decreases vibration of the mooring lines when waves and wind coexist. In particular, the springing (2nd or 3rd order force) also decreases in this field. 3) It can be estimated that the reduction in the rate of generation of electrical power can be up to about 6% as a result of the heel angle. In addition, the annual amount of electricity generated was estimated along with the utilization factor based on the experimental results. 展开更多

The motional electric field of the solar wind as seen by the Earth is examined theoretically and with spacecraft measurements. As it flows outward from the sun, the solar-wind plasma carries a spatially structured magnetic field with it. To calculate the motional electric field of the solar wind the spatially structured magnetic field is Lorentz transformed;for a full physical understanding, it is also necessary to Lorentz transform the current densities and charge densities in the solar wind. Referring to Maxwell’s equations, two related questions are asked: 1) Is the source of the solar-wind motional electric field charge density in the solar wind, time derivatives of current densities in the solar wind, or both? 2) Is the solar-wind motional electric field at Earth an electrostatic field, an induction field, or a superposition of the two? A Helmholtz decomposition of the motional electric field of the solar wind is made into a divergence-origin (electrostatic) and a curl-origin (induction) electric field. The global electric field associated with the outward advection of the global Parker-spiral magnetic field is found to be electrostatic with its origin being a distributed charge density in the solar-wind plasma. The electrostatic versus induction nature of the time-varying electric field associated with the advection of mesoscale magnetic structure varies with time as differently shaped magnetic structures in the solar-wind plasma pass the Earth;the mesoscale structure of the solar-wind plasma contains sheets of space charge and sheets wherein the current density has nonzero time derivatives. 展开更多

Some field experimental results have shown that the moving sands or dust aerosols in nature are usually electrified,and those charged particles also produce a strong electric field in air, which is named as wind-blown sand electric field.Some scholars have pointed out that the net charge on the particle significantly enhances its electromagnetic(EM) extinction properties, but up to now, there is no conclusive research on the effect of the environmental electric field. Based on the extended Mie theory, the effect of the electric field in a sandstorm on the EM attenuation properties of the charged larger dust particle is studied. The numerical results indicate that the environmental electric field also has a great influence on the particle's optical properties, and the stronger the electric field, the bigger the effect. In addition, the charged angle, the charge density, and the particle radius all have a specific impact on the charged particle's optical properties. 展开更多

To avoid this, it is important to predict the natural frequencies and modes of the end windings with finite elements. Due to the complex structure and unknown boundary conditions, the conventionally calculation of stator end windings has been very difficult and time consuming up to now. This paper describes the development of a full parameterized modeling tool, which allows a quick calculation of natural frequencies during the design phase of the generator. To keep the computing time low, it is important to find a way to get exact calculation results without detailed modeling of all pans. Additionally, special attention was paid to the active part, which has been replaced by spring-damper elements, and the determination of their stiffness via experimental modal analysis combined with finite element calculations. 展开更多

Computer programs have definitely become indispensable for designing power transformer. Among several applications, computer programs are mostly used for electric field calculation and thus electrical insulation concerns. In consequence, studies based on analytical approach to basic studies of correlated problems have become even more important because they form the very basis of knowledge that is necessary to every transformer designer in view of taking all the advantages of computational analyses. On the other hand, one of the most important basic studies consists in the evaluation of voltage surge distribution along transformer windings for which the method of separation of variables has been extensively used thanks to some simplifying assumptions. With this aim, authors have developed and previously published works that show the applicability of an alternative and useful analytical method that is the method of the residues, which requires no simplification to be assumed. In this work, another important step is taken towards proofing the total applicability of this promising method that is through a practical problem. A comparison to the numerical method TLM (transmission line method) is also performed and concordance with TLM and experimental data confirms the proposal of the method of residues can be also applicable to several others problems of electromagnetism. 展开更多

We consider the scheduling of battery charging of electric vehicles(EVs)integrated with renewable power generation.The increasing adoption of EVs and the development of renewable energies contribute importance to this research.The optimization of charging scheduling is challenging because of the large action space,the multi-stage decision making,and the high uncertainty.To solve this problem is time-consuming when the scale of the system is large.It is urgent to develop a practical and efficient method to properly schedule the charging of EVvs.The contribution of this work is threefold.First,we provide a sufficient condition on which the charging of EVs can be completely self-sustained by distributed generation.An algorithm is proposed to obtain the optimal charging policy when the sufficient condition holds.Second,the scenario when the supply of the renewable power generation is deficient is investigated.We prove that when the renewable generation is deterministic there exists an optimal policy which follows the modified least laxity and longer remaining processing time first(mLLLP)rule.Third,we provide an adaptive rule-based algorithm which obtains a near-optimal charging policy efficiently in general situations.We test the proposed algorithm by numerical experiments.The results show that it performs better than the other existing rule-based methods. 展开更多

The effects of different yaw angles on the aerodynamic performance of city electric multiple units(EMUs)were investigated in a wind tunnel using a 1:16.8 scaled model.Pressure scanning valve and six-component box-type aerodynamic balance were used to test the pressure distribution and aerodynamic force of the head car respectively from the 1.5-and 3-coach grouping city EMU models.Meanwhile,the effects of the yaw angles on the pressure distribution of the streamlined head as well as the aerodynamic forces of the train were analyzed.The experimental results showed that the pressure coefficient was the smallest at the maximum slope of the main shape-line.The side force coefficient and pressure coefficient along the head car cross-section were most affected by crosswind when the yaw angle was 55°,and replacing a 3-coach grouping with a 1.5-coach grouping had obvious advantages for wind tunnel testing when the yaw angle was within 24.2°.In addition,the relative errors of lift coefficient C_(L),roll moment coefficient C_(Mx),side force coefficient C_(S),and drag coefficient C_(D) between the 1.5-and 3-coach cases were below 5.95%,which all met the requirements of the experimental accuracy. 展开更多

The volatile wind power generation brings a full spectrum of problems to power system operation and management, ranging from transient system frequency fluctuation to steady state supply and demand balancing issue. In this paper, a novel wind integrated power system day-ahead economic dispatch model, with the consideration of generation and reserve cost is modelled and investigated. The proposed problem is first formulated as a chance constrained stochastic nonlinear programming U+0028 CCSNLP U+0029, and then transformed into a deterministic nonlinear programming U+0028 NLP U+0029. To tackle this NLP problem, a three-stage framework consists of particle swarm optimization U+0028 PSO U+0029, sequential quadratic programming U+0028 SQP U+0029 and Monte Carlo simulation U+0028 MCS U+0029 is proposed. The PSO is employed to heuristically search the line power flow limits, which are used by the SQP as constraints to solve the NLP problem. Then the solution from SQP is verified on benchmark system by using MCS. Finally, the verified results are feedback to the PSO as fitness value to update the particles. Simulation study on IEEE 30-bus system with wind power penetration is carried out, and the results demonstrate that the proposed dispatch model could be effectively solved by the proposed three-stage approach. © 2017 Chinese Association of Automation. 展开更多

Bilateral electric power contract is settled based on contract output curve. This paper considered the bilateral transactions execution, new energy accommodation, power grid security and generation economy, considering the executive priority of different power components to establish a multi-objective coordination unit commitment model. Through an example to verify the effectiveness of the model in promoting wind power consumption, guaranteeing trade execution, and improving power generation efficiency, and analyzed the interactions to each other among the factors of wind power, trading and blocking. According to the results, when wind power causes reverse power flow in the congestion line, it will promote the implementation of contracts, the influence of wind power accommodation to trade execution should be analyzed combined with the grid block, the results can provide reference for wind power planning. 展开更多
