This paper proposes an artificial neural network for monitoring and detecting the eccentric error of synchronous reluctance motors.Firstly,a 15 kWsynchronous reluctance motor is introduced and took as a case study to ...This paper proposes an artificial neural network for monitoring and detecting the eccentric error of synchronous reluctance motors.Firstly,a 15 kWsynchronous reluctance motor is introduced and took as a case study to investigate the effects of eccentric rotor.Then,the equivalent magnetic circuits of the studied motor are analyzed and developed,in cases of dynamic eccentric rotor and static eccentric rotor condition,respectively.After that,the analytical equations of the studied motor are derived,in terms of its air-gap flux density,electromagnetic torque,and electromagnetic force,followed by the electromagnetic finite element analyses.Then,the modal analyses of the stator and the whole motor are performed,respectively,to explore the natural frequency and the modal shape of the motor,by which the further vibrational analysis is possible to be conducted.The vibration level of the housing is furtherly studied to investigate its relationship with the rotor eccentricity,which is validated by the prototype test.Furthermore,an artificial neural network,which has 3 layers,is proposed.By taking the air-gap flux density,the electromagnetic force,and the vibrational level as inputs,and taking the eccentric distance as output,the proposed neural network is trained till the error smaller than 5%.Therefore,this neural network is obtaining the input parameters of the tested motor,based on which it is automatically monitoring and reporting the eccentric error to the upper-level control center.展开更多
Twin-rotor cylinder-embedded piston engine is proposed for dealing with the sealing problems of rotors in twin-rotor piston engine where the existent mature sealing technologies for traditional reciprocating engine ca...Twin-rotor cylinder-embedded piston engine is proposed for dealing with the sealing problems of rotors in twin-rotor piston engine where the existent mature sealing technologies for traditional reciprocating engine can be applied.The quantity and forms of its sealing surfaces are reduced and simplified,and what's more,the advantages of twin-rotor piston engine are inherited,such as high power density and no valve mechanism.Given the motion law of two rotors,its kinematic model is established,and the general expression for some parameters related to engine performance,such as the trajectory,displacement,velocity and acceleration of the piston and centroid trajectory,angular displacement,velocity and acceleration of the rod are presented.By selecting different variation patterns of relative angle of two rotors,the relevant variables are compared.It can be concluded that by designing the relative angle function of two rotors,the volume variation of working chamber can be changed.However,a comprehensive consideration for friction and vibration is necessary because velocity and acceleration are quite different in the different functions,the swing magnitude of rod is proportional to link ratio λ,and the position of rod swing center is controlled by eccentricity e.In order to reduce the lateral force,a smaller value of λ should be selected in the case of the structure,and the value of e should be near 0.95.There is no relationship between the piston stroke and the variation process of relative angle of two rotors,the former is only proportional to the amplitude of relative angle of two rotors.展开更多

However, the nonlinear characteristics of gear systems under combined interna...Extensive studies on nonlinear dynamics of gear systems with internal excitation or external excitation respectively have been carried out. However, the nonlinear characteristics of gear systems under combined internal and external excitations are scarcely investigated. An eight-degree-of-freedom(8-DOF) nonlinear spur gear-rotor-bearing model, which contains backlash, transmission error, eccentricity, gravity and input/output torque, is established, and the coupled lateral-torsional vibration characteristics are studied. Based on the equations of motion, the coupled spur gear-rotor-bearing system(SGRBS) is investigated using the Runge-Kutta numerical method, and the effects of rotational speed, error fluctuation and load fluctuation on the dynamic responses are explored. The results show that a diverse range of nonlinear dynamic characteristics such as periodic motion, quasi-periodic motion, chaotic behaviors and impacts exhibited in the system are strongly attributed to the interaction between internal and external excitations. Significantly, the changing rotational speed could effectively control the vibration of the system. Vibration level increases with the increasing error fluctuation. Whereas the load fluctuation has an influence on the nonlinear dynamic characteristics and the increasing excitation force amplitude makes the vibration amplitude increase, the chaotic motion may be restricted. The proposed model and numerical results can be used for diagnosis of faults and vibration control of practical SGRBS.展开更多
