The different-direction self-imaging, the corresponding imaging quality, and the imaging contrast ratio in this Doppler broadening medium are studied. As a result, the imaging-position linearly increases with the temperature, while the quality of the self-imaging does not show clear connection with the temperature. Due to the weaker mutual interference in the higher temperature, the contrast ratios in the two directions increase. The interesting results are important and may have potential applications in imaging storage and processing.展开更多

The pump and probe fields are derived from the same laser with opposite propagating directions. Due to the Doppler effect, the zero group-velocity atoms face bichromatic fields, while other atoms face trichromatic fields. The atomic medium shows distinct characteristics and exhibits simultaneous electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT) and electromagnetically induced absorption(EIA) at two frequencies. EIT and EIA peaks have a fixed relationship with frequency, which is determined by the Doppler shifts.展开更多

It is shown that spectral shifts and spectral switches are affected both by the polarization of the incident light wave and by the characters of the scat-tering medium. Moreover, numerical results show that the direction at which the spectral switch occurs is governed by the characters of the scattering medium, whereas the magnitude of the spectral switch is affected by the polarization of the incident light wave.展开更多
