A special case of a clustering scheme, a twodimensional grid clustering mechanism, is adopted. Clusterheads are rotated evenly among all sensor nodes in an efficient and decentralized manner, based on the residual energy in the battery and the random backoff time. In addition to transmitting and receiving packets within the sensors' electrical and amplification circuits, extra energy is needed in the retransmission of packets due to packet collisions caused by severe interference. By analysis and mathematical derivation, which are based on planar geometry, it is shown that the total energy consumed in the network is directly related to the gridstructure in the proposed grid based clustering mechanism. The transmission range is determined by cluster size, and the path loss exponent is determined by nodal separation. The summation of overall interference is caused by all the sensors that are transmitting concurrently. By analysis and simulation, an optimal grid structure with the corresponding grid size is presented, which balances between maximizing energy conservation and minimizing overall interference in wireless sensor networks.展开更多

文摘The energy crisis and environmental pollution drive more attention to the development and utilization of renewable energy.Considering the capricious nature of renewable energy resource,it has difficulty supplying electricity directly to consumers stably and efficiently, which calls for energy storage systems to collect energy and release electricity at peak periods.Due to their flexible power and energy, quick response, and high energy conversion efficiency,lithium-ion batteries stand out among multiple energy storage technologies and are rapidly deployed in the grid.Pursuing superior performance and ensuring the safety of energy storage systems, intrinsically safe solid-state electrolytes are expected as an ideal alternative to liquid electrolytes. In this review,we systematically evaluate the priorities and issues of traditional lithium-ion batteries in grid energy storage.Beyond lithium-ion batteries containing liquid electrolytes,solid-state lithium-ion batteries have the potential to play a more significant role in grid energy storage. The challenges of developing solid-state lithium-ion batteries, such as low ionic conductivity of the electrolyte, unstable electrode/electrolyte interface, and complicated fabrication process, are discussed in detail.Additionally, the safety of solid-state lithium-ion batteries is re-examined.Following the obtained insights, inspiring prospects for solid-state lithium-ion batteries in grid energy storage are depicted.
文摘Energy resilience is about ensuring a business and end-use consumers have a reliable, regular supply of energy and contingency measures in place in the event of a power failure, generating a source of power such as electricity for daily needs from an uninterrupted source of energy no matter either renewable or nonrenewable.Causes of resilience issues include power surges, weather, natural disasters,or man-made accidents, and even equipment failure. The human operational error can also be an issue for grid-power supply to go down and should be factored into resilience planning. As the energy landscape undergoes a radical transformation, from a world of large, centralized coal plants to a decentralized energy world made up of small-scale gas-fired production and renewables, the stability of electricity supply will begin to affect energy pricing.Businesses must plan for this change. The challenges that the growth of renewables brings to the grid in terms of intermittency mean that transmission and distribution costs consume an increasing proportion of bills. With progress in the technology of AI(Artificial Intelligence)integration of such progressive technology in recent decades,we are improving our resiliency of energy flow,so we prevent any unexpected interruption of this flow.Ensuring your business is energy resilient helps insulate against price increases or fluctuations in supply, becoming critical to maintaining operations and reducing commercial risk.In the form short TM(Technical Memorandum),this paper covers this issue.
文摘It is impossible to overstate the importance of energy.Just thinking about where humanity would be without it may be enough to demonstrate this point.Like in the past, energy will play a vital role in shaping future industries, cities, nations, and the world. That is why we believe that energy is a critical factor in shaping future paradigms in any target entity or world. To have a better understanding of the role that energy plays in the world today and in the future,in this article,we briefly look at the definition of energy and its different forms, and review some data related to energy consumption in the world and the United States.Furthermore,as a source of clean energy,we believe the future of nuclear power technology, despite the challenges it faces,is an important option for this country and the rest of the world to meet future energy needs without emitting CO(carbon monoxide)and CO2(carbon dioxide),or other GHGs(greenhouse gases),and other atmospheric pollutants and it is more efficient among its other comparable sources of renewable energies, such as solar, wind, etc.Globally, renewables made up 29 percent of electricity generation in 2020,much of it from hydro-power(16.8 percent).A record amount of over 256 GW of renewable power capacity was added globally during 2020 and continues to be the focal point for climate and energy solutions.Demand for electricity is direct function of population growth globally and is also driven by the present century’s extraordinary technological developments.
文摘Developing an integrated and intelligent approach to securing the ITE(information technology environment)is an emergent and evolving concern for every organization and consumer entity during the last few decades.Major topics of concern include“SI”(security intelligence),“D-DA”(data-driven analytics),“PE”(proven expertise),and“R-TD”(real-time defense)capabilities.“DRBTs”(dynamic response behavior types)include“incident response”,“endpoint management”,“threat intelligence”,“network security”,and“fraud protection”.The consumer demand for electricity as essential public access and service is indexed to population growth estimates.Consumer-driven economies continue to add electrical consumption to their grids even though improvements in lower-power consumption and higher design efficiencies are present in new electric-powered products.Dependence on the production of electrical energy has no peer replacement technology and creates a societal vulnerability to targeted public electrical grid interruptions. When access to,or production of,electrical power is interrupted, the result is a“Mass Effect”every consumer feels with equal distribution.Electric grid security falls directly into the levels of authorized, and unauthorized, access via the“IoT”(Internet of Things)concepts, and the“IoM2M”(Internet of Machine-to-Machine)integration.Electrical grid operations that include production and network management augment each other in order to support the demand for electricity every day either in peak or off-peak,thus cybersecurity plays a big role in the protection of such assets at our disposal. With help from AI(artificial intelligence)integrated into the IoT a resilient system can be built to protect the electric grid system nationwide and will be able to detect and preempt Smart Malware attacks.
文摘Renewable-energy-based hybrid microgrids can aid in achieving one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,i.e.‘Affordable and clean energy’.However, experts may be faced with the challenge of selecting the best one for the electrification of an area.To avoid the challenge and realize the ultimate goal of the United Nations, the present study, therefore, proposes a novel pros-pect theory-based decision-making approach to help experts in opting for the best microgrid scenario. The proposed decision-making framework considers the risk appetite of the decision-maker,a quintessential aspect of the process.Linear diophantine uncertain lin-guistic sets are used to model the linguistic evaluations from the experts. The information from different experts is aggregated using a linear diophantine uncertain linguistic power Einstein-weighted geometric operator. Finally, the prospect-theory-based TOmada de Decisao Interativa Multicriterio approach is employed to evaluate the performance of the available microgrid scenarios and hence opt for the best microgrid scenario. The proposed framework has been used to evaluate the performance of seven possible microgrid scenarios and hence select the best one that can be implemented for rural electrification of a remote village in Assam,India. The microgrid scenario consisting of a photovoltaic-wind turbine-fuel cell-battery converter(MG_(3))has been revealed to be the best scen-ario among the seven considered microgrid scenarios. The validity of the obtained ranking results has been adjudged through a com-prehensive evaluation regarding the attenuation factor and the weights of the criteria. Moreover, previous case studies have also been solved using the proposed methodology and the results reveal a good correlation between the obtained ranking results.
文摘The electric industry is being transformed from a centralized network to one that is less centralized and allows more consumer interaction in the form of a smart grid. A smart grid is a power transmission and distribution network that can incorporate millions of sensors all connected through an advanced, two-way communications and data acquisition system to provide real-time monitoring, diagnosis and control. Smart grid enables more efficient, reliable and secure energy service, facilitate grid-integration of renewable systems and energy storage, and better routing of power and demand management. The move to a smarter grid promises to change the industry's entire business model and its relationship with all stakeholders, involving and affecting power companies, regulators, energy service providers, technology and automation vendors, and all consumers of electric power.

文摘Liquid air energy storage(LAES)has been regarded as a large-scale electrical storage technology. In this paper,we first investigate the performance of the current LAES(termed as a baseline LAES)over a far wider range of charging pressure(1 to 21 MPa).Our analyses show that the baseline LAES could achieve an electrical round trip efficiency(e RTE)above 60%at a high charging pressure of 19 MPa.The baseline LAES,however, produces a large amount of excess heat particularly at low charging pressures with the maximum occurred at~1 MPa.Hence, the performance of the baseline LAES,especially at low charging pressures,is underestimated by only considering electrical energy in all the previous research. The performance of the baseline LAES with excess heat is then evaluated which gives a high e RTE even at lower charging pressures;the local maximum of 62%is achieved at~4 MPa.As a result of the above,a hybrid LAES system is proposed to provide cooling, heating, hot water and power. To evaluate the performance of the hybrid LAES system, three performance indicators are considered:nominal-electrical round trip efficiency(ne RTE),primary energy savings and avoided carbon dioxide emissions. Our results show that the hybrid LAES can achieve a high ne RTE between 52%and 76%,with the maximum at~5 MPa.For a given size of hybrid LAES(1 MW×8 h),the primary energy savings and avoided carbon dioxide emissions are up to 12.1 MWh and 2.3 ton, respectively. These new findings suggest, for the first time, that small-scale LAES systems could be best operated at lower charging pressures and the technologies have a great potential for applications in local decentralized micro energy networks.
