However, the ambient vibration is always too weak to hinder the high energy conversion efficiency. In this paper, the integrated frame composed of piezoelectric beams and mechanical amplifiers is proposed to improve the energy conversion efficiency of a VEH. First, the initial structures of a piezoelectric frame(PF) and an amplification frame(AF) are designed. The dynamic model is then established to analyze the influence of key structural parameters on the mechanical amplification factor. Finite element simulation is conducted to study the energy harvesting performance, where the stiffness characteristics and power output in the cases of series and parallel load resistance are discussed in detail. Furthermore, piezoelectric beams with variable cross-sections are introduced to optimize and improve the energy harvesting efficiency. Advantages of the PF with the AF are illustrated by comparison with conventional piezoelectric cantilever beams. The results show that the proposed integrated VEH has a good mechanical amplification capability and is more suitable for low-frequency vibration conditions.展开更多

In this paper, we consider half-duplex relaying system in which the energy constrained relay node collects energy via radio frequency(RF) signals from the surrounding resources. Regarding energy harvesting protocol, we propose power time switching-based relaying(PTSR) architecture for both amplify-and-forward(AF) and decode-and-forward(DF). Especially, we reveal the analytical expressions of achievable throughput, ergodic capacity and energy-efficient in case of imperfect channel state information(CSI) for both AF and DF network. Through numerical analysis, we analyse the throughput performance, energy-efficient and ergodic capacity for different parameters, including power splitting ratio and energy harvesting time. Moreover, we also depict the performance comparison between AF and DF network with perfect and imperfect CSI. The results in numerical analysis reveal that the result of AF relaying network is less significant than DF relaying network in the various scenarios.展开更多

文摘Passive daytime radiative cooling(PDRC) is useful for thermal management because it allows an object to emit terrestrial heat into space without the use of additional energy. To produce sub-ambient temperatures under direct sunlight,PDRC materials are designed to reduce their absorption of solar energy and to enhance their long-wavelength infrared(LWIR) emissivity. In recent years, many photonic structures and polymer composites have been studied to improve the cooling system of buildings. However,in cold weather(i.e. during winter in cold climates),buildings need to be kept warm rather than cooled due to heat loss.To overcome this limitation,temperature-responsive radiative cooling is a promising alternative. In the present study, adaptive radiative cooling(ARC) film fabricated from a polydimethylsiloxane/hollow SiO_(2) microsphere/thermochromic pigment composite was investigated. We found that the ARC film absorbed solar radiation under cold conditions while exhibiting radiative cooling at ambient temperatures above 40℃.Thus,in outdoor experiments, the ARC film achieved sub-ambient temperatures and had a theoretical cooling power of 63.2 W/m~2 in hot weather. We also demonstrated that radiative cooling with an energy harvesting system could be used to improve the energy management of buildings, with the thermoelectric module continuously generating output power using the ARC film. Therefore,we believe that our proposed ARC film can be employed for efficient thermal management of buildings and all-season energy harvesting in the near future.

文摘Most electronics such as sensors, actuators and energy harvesters need piezoceramic films to interconvert mechanical and electrical energy.Transferring the ceramic films from their growth substrates for assembling electronic devices commonly requires chemical or physical etching, which comes at the sacrifice of the substrate materials, film cracks, and environmental contamination. Here,we introduce a van der Waals stripping method to fabricate large-area and freestanding piezoceramic thin films in a simple, green, and cost-effective manner. The introduction of the quasi van der Waals epitaxial platinum layer enables the capillary force of water to drive the separation process of the film and substrate interface. The fabricated lead-free film,Ba_(0.85)Ca_(0.15)Zr_(0.1)Ti_(0.9)O_(3)(BCZT),shows a high piezoelectric coefficient d_(33)=209±10 pm V−1 and outstanding flexibility of maximum strain 2%.The freestanding feature enables a wide application scenario, including micro energy harvesting, and covid-19 spike protein detection. We further conduct a life cycle analysis and quantify the low energy consumption and low pollution of the water-based stripping film method.

文摘Because of the increasing demand for electrical energy, vibration energy harvesters(VEHs)that convert vibratory energy into electrical energy are a promising technology. In order to improve the efficiency of harvesting energy from environmental vibration, here we investigate a hybrid VEH.Unlike previous studies, this article analyzes the stochastic responses of the hybrid piezoelectric and electromagnetic energy harvesting system with viscoelastic material under narrow-band(colored)noise.Firstly,a mass-spring-damping system model coupled with piezoelectric and electromagnetic circuits under fundamental acceleration excitation is established, and analytical solutions to the dimensionless equations are derived. Then, the formula of the amplitude-frequency responses in the deterministic case and the first-order and secondorder steady-state moments of the amplitude in the stochastic case are obtained by using the multi-scales method. The amplitude-frequency analytical solutions are in good agreement with the numerical solutions obtained by the Monte Carlo method.Furthermore, the stochastic bifurcation diagram is plotted for the first-order steady-state moment of the amplitude with respect to the detuning frequency and viscoelastic parameter.Eventually, the influence of system parameters on mean-square electric voltage,mean-square electric current and mean output power is discussed. Results show that the electromechanical coupling coefficients, random excitation and viscoelastic parameter have a positive effect on the output power of the system.

文摘Recently, energy harvesting wireless sensor networks(EHWSN)have increased significant attention among research communities.By harvesting energy from the neighboring environment, the sensors in EHWSN resolve the energy constraint problem and offers lengthened network lifetime.Clustering is one of the proficient ways for accomplishing even improved lifetime in EHWSN.The clustering process intends to appropriately elect the cluster heads(CHs)and construct clusters.Though several models are available in the literature,it is still needed to accomplish energy efficiency and security in EHWSN.In this view, this study develops a novel Chaotic Rider Optimization Based Clustering Protocol for Secure Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Networks(CROC-SEHWSN)model.The presented CROC-SEHWSN model aims to accomplish energy efficiency by clustering the node in EHWSN.The CROC-SEHWSN model is based on the integration of chaotic concepts with traditional rider optimization(RO)algorithm.Besides, the CROC-SEHWSN model derives a fitness function(FF)involving seven distinct parameters connected to WSN.To accomplish security, trust factor and link quality metrics are considered in the FF.The design of RO algorithm for secure clustering process shows the novelty of the work.In order to demonstrate the enhanced performance of the CROC-SEHWSN approach,a wide range of simulations are carried out and the outcomes are inspected in distinct aspects. The experimental outcome demonstrated the superior performance of the CROC-SEHWSN technique on the recent approaches with maximum network lifetime of 387.40 and 393.30 s under two scenarios.

文摘In this paper, the throughput and delay of cooperative communications are derived when solar energy is used and relay node is selected using a timer. The source and relays harvest energy from sun using a photo voltaic system. The harvested power is used by the source to transmit data to the relays. Then,a selected relay amplifies the signal to the destination.Opportunistic, partial and reactive relay selection are used. The relay transmits when its timer elapses. The timer is set to a value proportional to the inverse of its Signal to Noise Ratio(SNR).Therefore, the relay with largest SNR will transmit first and its signal will be detected by the other relays that will remain idle to avoid collisions.Harvesting duration is optimized to maximize the throughput.Packet’s waiting time and total delay are also computed. We also derive the statistics of SNR when solar energy is used. The harvested power from sun is proportional to the sum of a deterministic radiation intensity and a random attenuation due to weather effects and clouds occlusion. The fixed radiation intensity depends on season, month and time t in hour. The throughput of cooperative communications with energy harvesting from sun was not yet studied.
文摘A bimorph piezoelectric beam with periodically variable cross-sections is used for the vibration energy harvesting. The effects of two geometrical parameters on the first band gap of this periodic beam are investigated by the generalized differential quadrature rule(GDQR) method. The GDQR method is also used to calculate the forced vibration response of the beam and voltage of each piezoelectric layer when the beam is subject to a sinusoidal base excitation. Results obtained from the analytical method are compared with those obtained from the finite element simulation with ANSYS,and good agreement is found. The voltage output of this periodic beam over its first band gap is calculated and compared with the voltage output of the uniform piezoelectric beam.It is concluded that this periodic beam has three advantages over the uniform piezoelectric beam,i.e.,generating more voltage outputs over a wide frequency range, absorbing vibration, and being less weight.

文摘Flexible, compact, lightweight and sustainable power sources are indispensable for modern wearable and personal electronics and small-unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs).Hierarchical honeycomb has the unique merits of compact mesostructures, excellent energy absorption properties and considerable weight to strength ratios.Herein,a honeycomb-inspired triboelectric nanogenerator(h-TENG)is proposed for biomechanical and UAV morphing wing energy harvesting based on contact triboelectrification wavy surface of cellular honeycomb structure. The wavy surface comprises a multilayered thin film structure(combining polyethylene terephthalate, silver nanowires and fluorinated ethylene propylene)fabricated through high-temperature thermoplastic molding and wafer-level bonding process. With superior synchronization of large amounts of energy generation units with honeycomb cells, the manufactured h-TENG prototype produces the maximum instantaneous open-circuit voltage,short-circuit current and output power of 1207 V,68.5μA and 12.4 mW,respectively, corresponding to a remarkable peak power density of 0.275 mW cm^(−3)(or 2.48 mW g^(−1))under hand pressing excitations.Attributed to the excellent elastic property of self-rebounding honeycomb structure, the flexible and transparent h-TENG can be easily pressed, bent and integrated into shoes for real-time insole plantar pressure mapping. The lightweight and compact h-TENG is further installed into a morphing wing of small UAVs for efficiently converting the flapping energy of ailerons into electricity for the first time. This research demonstrates this new conceptualizing single h-TENG device’s versatility and viability for broad-range real-world application scenarios.

文摘Vibration energy harvesters(VEHs) can transform ambient vibration energy to electricity and have been widely investigated as promising self-powered devices for wireless sensor networks, wearable sensors, and applications of a micro-electro-mechanical system(MEMS). The results show that the proposed integrated VEH has a good mechanical amplification capability and is more suitable for low-frequency vibration conditions.

文摘In order to improve the transform efficiency of bi-stable energy harvester(BEH),this paper proposes an advanced bi-stable energy harvester(ABEH),which is composed of two bi-stable beams coupling through their magnets.Theoretical analyzes and simulations for the ABEH are carried out.First, the mathematical model is established and its dynamical equations are derived. The formulas of magnetic force in two directions are given. The potential energy barrier of ABEH is reduced and the snap-through is liable to occur between potential wells. To demonstrate the ABEH's advantage in harvesting energy, comparisons between the ABEH and the BEH are carried out for both harmonic and stochastic excitations. Our results reveal that the ABEH's inter-well response can be elicited by a low-frequency excitation and the harvester can attain frequent jumping between potential wells at fairly weak random excitations. Thus,it can generate a higher output power. The present findings prove that the ABEH is preferable in harvesting energy and can be optimally designed such that it attains the best harvesting performance.
文摘Wireless information and powered transfer networks(WIPT) has recently been implemented in 5th generation wireless networks. The results in numerical analysis reveal that the result of AF relaying network is less significant than DF relaying network in the various scenarios.

文摘This paper investigates the power control and routing problem in the communication process of an energy harvesting(EH)multi-hop cognitive radio network(CRN).The secondary user(SU)nodes(i.e.,source node and relay nodes)harvest energy from the environment and use the energy exclusively for transmitting data. The SU nodes(i.e.,relay nodes)on the path, store and forward the received data to the destination node.We consider a real world scenario where the EH-SU node has only local causal knowledge,i.e.,at any time, each EH-SU node only has knowledge of its own EH process, channel state and currently received data.In order to study the power and routing issues,an optimization problem that maximizes path throughput considering quality of service(QoS)and available energy constraints is proposed. To solve this optimization problem,we propose a hybrid game theory routing and power control algorithm(HGRPC).The EH-SU nodes on the same path cooperate with each other, but EH-SU nodes on the different paths compete with each other.By selecting the best next hop node,we find the best strategy that can maximize throughput. In addition,we have established four steps to achieve routing,i.e.,route discovery, route selection, route reply, and route maintenance.Compared with the direct transmission,HGRPC has advantages in longer distances and higher hop counts. The algorithm generates more energy, reduces energy consumption and increases predictable residual energy. In particular, the time complexity of HGRPC is analyzed and its convergence is proved. In simulation experiments, the performance(i.e.,throughput and bit error rate(BER))of HGRPC is evaluated. Finally, experimental results show that HGRPC has higher throughput, longer network life, less latency, and lower energy consumption.
