In this study,we investigated on the application of planar lightwave circuit(PLC)technology in energy-saving control of tunnel lighting.The application status of PLC in the field of energy saving followed by the necessity of energy saving in tunnel lighting was analyzed.Finally,the application of PLC in tunnel lighting energy-saving control around the three dimensions of system overall architecture design,control scheme,and program control process was investigated.The results showed that the system meets the requirements of control effect,robustness,and visual effect after trial operation,and is suitable for practical applications. 展开更多

In this study, an off grid wind-solar hybrid power generation system was established at Afyon Kocatepe University to meet the energy need of lighting system of three different laboratories. It is planned to efficiently use the energy obtained from the designed hybrid power generation system. For this purpose, PIC 16F877 was used in controlling of lighting load of laboratories. The off-grid wind-solar hybrid power generation system consists of 570 W 24 V mono crystal solar panels, 600 W wind power generation system and accumulator groups. The load control circuit made with PIC 16F877 is designed in a manner that will control the lighting armature groups individually activate and deactivate the armature groups according to intensity of illumination in environment. Besides, separately from generation and storing units constituting the hybrid power generation system, data in kWh are recorded by means of software in 10 seconds intervals. With the obtained power generation and storing data, analyzing of power consumption data when the load control system in active or passive position is made. According to analysis results, with controlling of lighting load and using of energy obtained from off grid wind-solar hybrid power generation system, 20.6% energy saving has been ensured. 展开更多

In order to acquire the most energy-saving luminairedistribution-parameters(LDPs)of highway tunnel interior zone backlighting,the parameters optimization model(POM)of backlighting for tunnel interior zone was established.Yanlieshan tunnel of Jiujing highway was taken as an example for the optimization.The optimal LDPs of the backlighting system of the tunnel interior zone were obtained by the POM,a comparison between the optimization results and those of Yanlieshan tunnel’s actual lighting system was performed,which showed that the optimized backlighting system with LED lamps installed according to the optimized LDPs could save energy remarkablely even under full capacity lighting condition.Illuminance and illuminance uniformity of the tunnel road surface still met the lighting demands even the LED lamp’s luminance decreased by 30%.A backlighting simulation experiment with the optimized backlighting LDPs for Yanlieshan tunnel was accomplished in the software Dialux.The simulation results basically agreed with the optimization calculated results from the POM which proved the correctness of the backlighting POM. 展开更多

The performance of a solar lighting and heating system(SLHS)based on the spectral splitting effect of nanofluids is presented in this paper.SLHS through nanofluids would split the sunlight spectrum into different wavelength,and then introduce the visible light into the offices for lighting and absorb infrared energy to generate hot water.The Energy Plus software was used to analyze the energy consumption of typical office building located in the city of Harbin in China coupled with SLHS.Based on the simulation results two lighting zones were identified in the offices and the optimal lighting control strategy was developed for a full year.The performance models of SLHS with different light-receiving areas of 10 m^(2)and 40 m^(2)were simulated and validated using the existing experimental data.The overall energy-saving of the offices over a full year were analyzed using the validated model.Results demonstrated that for SLHS with the area of 40 m^(2),the rate of the energy saving in the offices due to lighting and hot water systems were 58.9%,and 19.3%,respectively.The system also had the additional benefit of reducing the cooling load of the air conditioning system during summer period together with improving the quality of the indoor environment resulting in better health and productivity of the occupants. 展开更多

This review provides a comprehensive account of energy efficient lighting devices, their working principles and the advancement of these materials as an underpinning to the development of technology. Particular attention has been given to solid state lighting devices and their applications since they have attracted the most interest and are the most promising. Solid state lighting devices including white light emitting diodes (LEDs), organic LEDs (OLEDs), quantum-dot LEDs (QLEDs) and carbon-dot LEDs (CLEDs) are promising energy efficient lighting sources for displays and general lighting. However there is no universal solution that will give better performance and efficiency for all types of applications. LEDs are replacing traditional lamp,; for both general lighting and display applications, whereas OLEDs are finding their own special application,; in various areas. QLEDs and CLEDs have advantages such as high quantum yields, narrow emission spectra, tunable emission spectra and good stability over OLEDs, so applications for these devices are being extended to new types of lighting sources. There is a great dean of research on these materials and their processing technologies and the commercial viability of these technologies appears strong. 展开更多

Richard Feynman once said, “I think it is safe to say that no one understands Quantum Mechanics”. The well-known article on the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) paradox brought forth further doubts on the interpretation of quantum theory. Einstein’s doubt on quantum theory is a doubleedged sword: experimental verification of quantum theory would contradict the hypothesis that speed of light is finite. It has been almost a century since the creation of quantum theory and special relativity, and the relevant doubts brought forward remain unresolved. We posit that the existence of discontinuity points and quantum wormholes would imply superluminal phenomenon or infinite speed of light, which provides for an important supplement to the invariance principle of the speed of light and superluminal phenomena. This can potentially resolve the inconsistency between special relativity and quantum theory. 展开更多

The correspondence principle and the condition of supplementation were introduced by N. Bohr for the sub-mission of light phenomena, taking into account the wave nature of electromagnetic radiation on one hand, and its quantum structures on the other. In this paper, correspondence principle combines two models of matter, namely, the classical point of view of environment can be considered as an ensemble no equally-frequencies oscillators, i.e. electrons in the surrounding various atoms (molecules) of the matter and characterized by its own set of frequencies (but not hesitant in the absence of an energy source) and the quantum - environment could be presented as a set (ensemble) two-level systems, a wide range of Bohr fre-quencies. According to the correspondence principle Bohr jump-frequencies of atoms (molecules or nano particles) and natural frequencies oscillations of electrons of the same environment - oscillators are equal to each other. The dispersion characteristics of the environment in the every study range of optical frequencies correspond to the model of the classical harmonic oscillator of Lorenz, capable oscillates with Bohr fre-quency. Using the laws of classical mechanics to describe the environment and its dispersion properties, and the simultaneous presentation of light radiation in the form of a beam interacting with the environment of photons (quanta, corpuscles) helps explain peculiarities of the spectral composition Raleigh light scattered. 展开更多

Simplified prediction model for lighting energy consumption in office building scheme design

There are few simple tools for architects to optimize the daylighting design. Therefore,it is useful to develop a design guideline related to the evaluation of lighting energy saving potential and sunlight design strategies. This paper analyzes the impacts of different artificial lighting control methods and design parameters on daylighting. A direct correlation between lighting energy consumption and parameters such as orientations,window to wall ratio (WWR) and perimeter depth is established. A simplified prediction model is proposed to estimate lighting energy consumption with the given perimeter depth,WWR,and window transparency. Validation of the model is carried out compared with detailed lighting simulation software for an office building. After the variation analysis for these parameters,design advises for the daylighting design at scheme design phase are summarized. 展开更多

The purpose of the present study is to develop a counterpart of the special relativity theory that is consistent with the existence of a preferred frame but, like the standard relativity theory, is based on the relativity principle and the universality of the (two-way) speed of light. The synthesis of such seemingly incompatible concepts as the existence of preferred frame and the relativity principle is possible at the expense of the freedom in assigning the one-way speeds of light that exists in special relativity. In the framework developed, a degree of anisotropy of the one-way speed acquires meaning of a characteristic of the really existing anisotropy caused by motion of an inertial frame relative to the preferred frame. The anisotropic special relativity kinematics is developed based on the symmetry principles: 1) Space-time transformations between inertial frames leave the equation of anisotropic light propagation invariant and 2) a set of the transformations possesses a group structure. The Lie group theory apparatus is applied to define groups of transformations between inertial frames. Applying the transformations to the problem of calculating the CMB temperature distribution yields a relation in which the angular dependence coincides with that obtained on the basis of the standard relativity theory but the mean temperature is corrected by the terms second order in the observer velocity. 展开更多

First-principles calculations are performed on the influence of transition metal(TM=Cr, Mn, Fe, Co) as codopants on the electronic structure and visible-light absorption of Zn-doped Sr TiO_3. The calculated results show that(Zn,Mn)-codoped Sr TiO_3 requires the smallest formation energy in four codoping systems. The structures of the codoped systems display obvious lattice distortion, inducing a phase transition from cubic to rhombohedral after codoping. Some impurity Cr, Mn and Co 3d states appear below the bottom of conduction band and some Fe 3d states are located above the top of valence band, which leads to a significant narrowing of band gap after transition metal codoping. The enhancement of visible-light absorption are observed in transition metals(TM=Cr, Mn, Fe, Co) and Zn codoped Sr TiO_3 systems. The prediction calculations suggested that the(Zn,Mn)-and(Zn,Co)-codoped SrTiO_3 could be the desirable visible-light photocatalysts. 展开更多

Anomaly detection plays an important role in ensuring the data quality in wireless sensor networks(WSNs).The main objective of the paper is to design a light-weight and distributed algorithm to detect the data collected from WSNs effectively.This is achieved by proposing a distributed anomaly detection algorithm based on ensemble isolation principle.The new method offers distinctive advantages over the existing methods.Firstly,it does not require any distance or density measurement,which reduces computational burdens significantly.Secondly,considering the spatial correlation characteristic of node deployment in WSNs,local sub-detector is built in each sensor node,which is broadcasted simultaneously to neighbor sensor nodes.A global detector model is then constructed by using the local detector model and the neighbor detector model,which possesses a distributed nature and decreases communication burden.The experiment results on the labeled dataset confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

White-light emission of ZnO nanoparticles prepared by sol-gel method

The ratios of In/(Zn+In) are 0%, 5%, 8%, 10%, and 15%, respectively. Crystal phase structures and optoelectronic properties of these samples are characterized and the chromaticity coordinates of different samples are also calculated in CIE-XYZ colour system. The results show that preferred growth direction of ZnO changes from (002) plane to (001) plane and interplanar distance becomes shorter. When the doping amount of In is 5%, Zn atoms are completely replaced by In atoms. The resistivities of the samples first decrease, then increase afterwards with the increase of the amount of In. With the increase of In, the ultraviolet emission is redshifted and new peaks occur at 465 nm, 535 nm, and 630 nm. The sample with 10% indium has white-light emission. The band structures of samples with 0% and 12.5% indium are investigated by the first principle method. The mechanism of white emission is discussed from the viewpoint of additional energy levels. 展开更多

By the introduction of time-averaged energy flow density rays and the definition of new generalized refractive index n<sub>Gl</sub>, Fermat’s principle of geometric optics is further generalized and its application conditions are discussed. The generalized Fermat’s principle can be used to describe stable transmission of light in a medium with variable refractive index. The necessary and sufficient conditions of a nondivergent and nonfocusing light beam are derived from this Fermat’s principle. 展开更多
