美国科学家1月11日宣布培育出了世界上首只转基因猴。这是世界上首次培育成功的转基因灵长类动物。此项成果将为人类最终战胜糖尿病、乳腺癌、帕金森氏症合艾滋病等顽症提供帮助。这只名为安迪的转基因猴于2000年10月2日诞生。此次添加在安迪体内的是一种绿色荧光蛋白(GFP)标志基因。如果动物体内含有这种蛋白,在受到特定波长的光照射时,就会出现特定的荧光。以前科学家主要利用老鼠进行疗效试验,但老鼠与人差别较大,不能获得非常理想的试验结果。比如: Animals that don't have monthly cycles don't suffer from breast cancer like women. 文中有一句话引起我们的深思: We wouldn't want to make a monkey that carries a disease unless we knew there was a cure right in front of us. 而某些人为了满足一时的口腹之欲或蝇头小利而狂捕滥杀国家级的保护动物! 此次转基因猴的诞生是生物科学的一次重大突破,将有力推动基因疗法等多方面的研究。】
