Tourism English in higher vocational education has profound humanistic,strong professional orientation,and instrumental characteristics.Through analyzing the current situation of ideological and political teaching in ...Tourism English in higher vocational education has profound humanistic,strong professional orientation,and instrumental characteristics.Through analyzing the current situation of ideological and political teaching in Tourism English courses in higher vocational education,it is found that there are too few ideological and political elements in the curriculum,the skills teaching and ideological education are not unified,and the ideological and political education in the curriculum tends to be empty preaching.The reasons for this are the weak ideological and political awareness of teachers,the emphasis on skills in textbooks over ideological and political education,and the conservatism of teaching methods.Based on the requirements of curriculum ideological and political education and teaching reform,a teaching reform practice path is constructed from four aspects:anchoring curriculum ideological and political goals,improving teachers’ideological and political awareness and educational ability,creating ideological and political-oriented textbook resources,and integrating ideological and political teaching methods through multiple channels throughout the entire process,in order to cultivate students with patriotism,international vision,and professional skills.展开更多

The importance of teacher talk in EFL (English as a foreign language) class has aroused much attention in China since the late 1990s. On a basis of classroom discourse analysis, this paper has observed 14 courses wi...The importance of teacher talk in EFL (English as a foreign language) class has aroused much attention in China since the late 1990s. On a basis of classroom discourse analysis, this paper has observed 14 courses with 21 hours in total from advanced and fundamental grades in an English department. The classroom observation has been transcribed to analyze the features of teacher talk in various English courses in terms of five dimensions--discourse quantity, questioning types, feedback manners, interactional modification features, and conversation chains, It is found that on average there is significant difference in those five dimensions between fundamental and advanced courses. In terms of discourse quantity, the teacher talk has occupied more than 80% of the total talk amount and the total teacher talk in advanced courses is more than that in fundamental ones; the number of display questions is much more than that of referential questions; evaluative feedbacks are more than discursive ones; all of the teachers prefer to employ confirmation checks to modify students' answer, and half of the conversational chains are IRF (Initial-Response-Follow-up) structure while another half are full of complicated chains. The paper then provides some suggestions and implications for EFL teaching in the light of these findings.展开更多

The paper aims to introduce an integrated method of teaching English theoretical courses adopted by a teacher in Foreign Language School of Xi'an Jiaotong University who taught ETTM course (English Teaching Theory and Methodology course). And the method has employed the collaborative learning strategy and through a survey conducted among the students attended the course, and we find that the method has gained some effective teaching results. 文摘This paper explores the integration of the bridge-in,objectives,pre-assessment,participatory activities,post-assessment and summary(BOPPPS)teaching model within the context of the post-graduates Academic English course.It discusses how this structured approach can effectively enhance students’language proficiency,foster critical thinking skills,and align with the multifaceted objectives of advanced English language education.The study provides a detailed examination of each BOPPPS component as applied to the post-graduates Academic English curriculum,supported by theoretical underpinnings and practical implications.
文摘With the rapid development of e-commerce under the globalization, international trade is roaring up as well. Such increase in e-business created a gap between the demand and supply of BE talents, esp. those of e-business. Yet on the other hand, most academies with BE majors in China are sticking to the traditional schedule of talent cultivation, focusing on the language skills and cultural knowledge. Some colleges have detected new modes for such BE talent cultivation by integrating foreign trade firms into the BE courses and have provides us with many valuable inspirations. Study of the cases can offer more practical tips on such cooperation, so far as the academies are ready to adopt to the new situation and reform their teaching schedules. Study shows that such cooperation is beneficial to the academies, to the firms, and above all, to the students.

文摘Presently, with the higher requirements of maritime education and training, the development of maritime visual-audio-lingual course books are lagging behind, in that the contents are outdated, dull and away from the actual practice. They can by no means reflect the production of ocean transportation and run counter to the principles of language communication, resulting in a severe lap in the aspects of contents, quality and formation. Maritime visual-audio-lingual teaching belongs to ESP and its contents should give prominence to practice and operation, such as, instruments, equipment, machinery and principles; operation, entering and leaving ports, loading and discharging of cargo, navigation and communication, berthing and unberting, heaving anchor, etc. Many scenes and processes are not to be demonstrated by verbal means and normal methods of teaching. Therefore, a set of course book that reflects the real operational situations is of great need and one that adopts the multi-media means in visual-audio-lingual teaching is of enormous and irreplaceable privilege, in that a highly qualified visual-audio-lingual course book will provide real, clear-cut and understandable working situations, so that students will be on-scene and impressed. It will not only improve the students' attention and learning interest, hut also help learn practical English in real environment.

文摘Since the idea of“Curriculum-Based Ideological and Political Education”was formally proposed in 2016,it has rapidly become a research hotspot in education reform.Although a large number of relevant studies have focused on the effective paths to curriculum-based ideological and political education in specific courses,there are few studies on how to integrate ideological and political education contents into particular courses under specific educational concepts and by particular teaching methods.Thus,this paper will explore how to improve the teaching effectiveness of curriculumbased ideological and political education in College English course with the OBE concept as the driving force and the case teaching method as the means.Finally,a few thoughts on the application of case teaching method in College English course are offered.
