This study was conducted with non-English sophomore students,aiming to explore the effects of different interaction combinations and language levels on continuous writing in an online environment,and compare the differences in lexical alignments and composition quality of learners with different interaction combinations and language levels in the same continuous writing task through experiments.The results show that the mean values of the word-phrase alignment of the paired group were higher than those of the individual group in different interaction combinations,and the two groups showed significant differences;in terms of composition quality,the individual group was better than the paired group,but there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of task continuation.Secondly,the word-phrase alignment and composition scores of the different language-level groups were higher than those of the same language-level groups,and there was a significant difference between the two groups in terms of word-phrase alignments,but not in terms of composition scores.The results of this study can be useful and informative for second language teachers in future continuous teaching in online environments. 展开更多

This paper aims to explore how a veteran teacher organizes online teaching initiated by the pandemic and how she deals with the problems in online teacher-student verbal interaction.By analyzing a corpus of 20 audio-recorded online lessons between a math teacher and her students during the COVID-19 pandemic from April 11 to May 10,2022,four interactional segments are selected as the focus of the study.The results of the conversation analysis of the segments showed that students’modesty,lack of confidence,lack of ability,and network delay are the main factors affecting online teacher-student interaction.By encouraging students to answer questions,enlightening students to give answers,enriching students’answers,and entertaining the teaching atmosphere(“4Es”strategies),the teacher solved the problems successfully.The findings from this study can provide pedagogical experience and implications for practical teaching. 展开更多

This paper examines an under-researched phenomenon of mock impoliteness in Chinese online interaction,namely,the practice of hudui(lit.reciprocal jocular abuse)as a solidarity enhancing device among acquaintances.Drawing on data from Qzone interaction among Chinese university students,this study focuses on ritual features,sequential patterns and interpersonal functions of hudui through the lens of Kádár’s(2013,2017)interpersonal ritual theory.The results show that hudui is co-constructed by the online participants with the symmetric pattern of mutual abuse,which distinguishes it from previous studies of jocular abuse(i.e.,the asymmetric pattern of abuser–recipient).They also reveal that hudui accomplishes various kinds of relational work,including fostering intimacy,enhancing mutual affection-based face and creating amusement. 展开更多

Online technologies have facilitated the development of Virtual Communities of Practice (virtual CoPs) to support health professionals collaborate online to share knowledge, improve performance and support the spread of innovation and best practices. Research, however,shows that many virtual CoPs do not achieve their expected potential because online interaction among healthcare professionals is generally low. Focusing on health visitors, who are UK qualified midwives or nurses who have undertaken additional qualifications as specialist public health workers in the community, the paper examines the factors that influence online interaction among health visitors collaborating to share knowledge and experience in a virtual CoP. The paper makes suggestions for how to improve online interaction among health professionals in virtual CoPs by increasing the size of membership in order to take advantage of both posting and viewing contributions, facilitating moderation to improve networking among geographically dispersed members groups and im-proving the topic relevance in order to stimulate contributions. 展开更多

With the rapid development of information technology, how to utilize the Web in the field of language teaching has become a heated issue in the foreign language teaching reform around the whole world. For so many years, during the teachercentered English writing teaching process, students have no choice but to accept model essays and recite the well-performed sentences and structures. it is hard for teachers and students to conduct an effective interaction, which leads to students' lacking of writing motivations. The author conducted the experiment with QQ group as a medium, and analyzed the results of the experiment among 66 students from Wuhan University, in order to study how to make good use of the network environment to promote the communication and interaction between students, and then enhance their writing motivation. The experimental data and discussions show that online interaction can motivate students to complete writing tasks, especially enhance their instrumental achievement and intrinsic motivation. 展开更多

The COVID-19 pandemic forced many universities around the world to move their educational activities onto online platforms.We conducted a survey in which asking undergraduates at a Chinese university how they felt about different aspects of online education during the pandemic.We received responses from 1,088 students.A majority of the students(67.9%)thought that physical classroom is better than online education and MOOCs.The students believed that teachers have improved their ability to teach online since the pandemic(67.3%)and online teaching is a suitable option in the current situation(65.8%).The students expressed satisfaction with the online educational resources and teachers’flexible use of online tools.However,the students felt that online education is stressful and affecting their health and social life.The pandemic has led to widespread use of online education,and we hope that online education can be better in the future. 展开更多

Background:To develop a protein-protein interaction network of Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria(PNH)and Aplastic anemia(AA)based on genetic genes and to predict pathways underlying the molecular complexes in the network.Methods:In this research,the PNH and AA-related genes were screened through Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man(OMIM).The plugins and Cytoscape were used to search literature and build a protein-protein interaction network.Results:The protein-protein interaction network contains two molecular complexes that are five higher than the correlation integral values.The target genes of this study were obtained:CD59,STAT3,TERC,TNF,AKT1,C5AR1,EPO,IL6,IL10 and so on.We also found that many factors regulate biological behaviors:neutrophils,macrophages,vascular endothelial growth factor,immunoglobulin,interleukin,cytokine receptor,interleukin-6 receptor,tumor necrosis factor,and so on.This research provides a bioinformatics foundation for further explaining the mechanism of common development of both.Conclusion:This indicates that the PNH and AA is a complex process regulated by many cellular pathways and multiple genes. 展开更多

The URI online judge allows problem corrections in real time, interactivity between users, besides it allows flexibility in the choice of the programming language and it makes some supporting materials available. During the short time in which the tool has being used we have observed that it is a very good tool for self-study. As users of programming portals, the authors noticed some details that would be important to be implemented in a new tool, such as the separation of problems by categories. Another fundamental detail is the fact that this tool is available in two languages (Portuguese and English). This might facilitate the learning process for beginners, both locally and globally. 展开更多

Interactivity in online newspapers is the focus of this chapter in eliciting readers’evaluation of Zambian online newspapers.This aspect of the study investigates and characterises the motivations(gratification sought)for use of interactivity features(“process motivation”)and how widely they are used.It also attempts to ascertain the gratification obtained from their use among readers.The probable relationships between use of the interactivity features(“audience interactivity”)and gratification obtained from them(“process gratification”)and the impact of the perceived credibility of the online newspapers on gratification are also examined.Past studies present mixed results on use of interactivity and gratification obtained from it.This study finds that use of interactivity in Zambian online newspapers is at a low level,although among the three broad categorisations of features of online newspapers,interactivity attracts greater use than hyper-textuality and multi-mediality.Human interactivity features-“knowing what others think about an issue”,“chat on the Facebook page of the newspaper”,“ability to navigate on the Facebook page of the newspaper”,and“posting own comments on stories”-are the main motivations for use of online newspapers,the most frequently used,and the most gratifying to the readers.While readers express an interest in interacting with other readers via online newspapers,they seem less interested in posting their own stories as“citizen journalists”and linking up with the publishers and editors.This finding challenges the notion that all new media are catalysts of participatory and cyclic communication. 展开更多

This study concentrates on the faculty perceptions of how the usage of e-mail and cell phones has changed interactions with students over the past decade. General levels of usage are analyzed as well as correlation to curricular disciplines, An online survey of faculty members at Indiana University of Pennsylvania found maior changes in the type and frequency of contact between professors and students as well as a shift from personal contact to e-mail and telephone usage. Nowadays, it is extremely difficult to find suitable accommodation in city areas if people search for it physically. On the other hand, the land owner also needs to rent the house. It can be difficult to find tenants just to hang a lease sign on a building, and as a result, they lose money. An online common platform can play a vital role in this case. The purpose of the study is to develop a common web-based online platform for both tenants and house owners so that both tenants and landowners will mutually benefit from the system. This paper presents the development of web applications for the people of Bangladesh where both house owners and tenants can register and tenants can have houses for rent via sophisticated contact with the house owner. In this paper, a common online-based smart house rental web application has been developed both for tenants and for house owners. This web application is very user-friendly, efficient and it has got many unique features that are not offered by other currently available house rental websites here in Bangladesh. Tenants can register using their phone number, store information about their identity, search for available houses, send messages to house owners, and choose a suitable house using developed web applications. House owners can also register for the system, which will manually verify and authenticate the knowledge provided by the house owner can view a tenant’s information history whenever a tenant makes contact through text and supply house-related information accordingly. The proposed online smart house system has been tested and validated. It works very efficiently with many features. The application provided faster and improved opportunities to get houses, as well as ensuring the availability of houses for rent in the greatest number of areas. The system will help to spread trustworthy services nationwide and supply users with the chance to speak and improve the house rent in Bangladesh. Because it has many smart features, this developed online smart house rental web application will make it very easy for tenants to find a house to rent. 本研究考察了同伴面对面互动和远程互动中的学习者投入。12名(6对)英语专业一年级学生在一学期中经历了同伴面对面互动和远程互动。通过分析他们的三次面对面互动和三次远程互动的录音文本,研究表明,在两类互动中,学习者在行为、认知和... 本研究考察了同伴面对面互动和远程互动中的学习者投入。12名(6对)英语专业一年级学生在一学期中经历了同伴面对面互动和远程互动。通过分析他们的三次面对面互动和三次远程互动的录音文本,研究表明,在两类互动中,学习者在行为、认知和社会三个维度的投入并无显著差异。对8名学生的访谈结果显示,在情感投入方面,尽管学习者更加倾向于面对面互动,但同伴之间的配合没有因互动方式的改变而出现差异。上述结果表明,远程环境中的同伴互动效果与传统课堂环境中的同伴互动效果差别有限,这在一定程度上为开展远程互动提供了实证支撑。 展开更多
