Evolution and Determinants of Population Agglomeration in Less Developed Metropolitan Areas:A Case Study of the Taiyuan Metropolitan Area,China

It is of importance to enhance the urban areas'capacity for population aggregation in underdeveloped regions,aiming to rectify the imbalanced and insufficient pattern of economic development in China.Taking the Taiyuan Metropolitan Area(TMA)in central China as a case study,this paper examines the evolutionary process and characteristics of population agglomeration from 2000 to 2020,and identifies factors associated with agglomeration and their spatial effects.The findings indicated that:1)against the background of sustained population shrinkage in the provincial area,the TMA showed a demographic trend of steady increase,albeit with a decelerated growth rate.In the metropolitan area,urban population size continued to grow rapidly,whereas the rural areas endured sustained losses.Disparities in city size continued to widen,and the polarization of concentrated population in the core cities kept increasing.2)Agglomerations in both secondary and service industries had significant positive effects on local population agglomeration,with the former effect being stronger.Regional economic development,government fiscal expenditure,and financial advancement all contributed to facilitating local population clustering.From a spatial spillover perspective,service agglomeration and financial development promoted population agglomeration in surrounding areas.Conversely,fiscal expenditure inhibited such agglomeration.As for industrial agglomeration and regional economic development,their spatial spillover effects were non-significant.The results obtained reveal several policy implications aimed at enhancing the population agglomeration capacity of the metropolitan area in underdeveloped regions during the new era. 展开更多

The inter-city linkage heat data provided by Baidu Migration is employed as a characterization of inter-city linkages in order to facilitate the study of the network linkage characteristics and hierarchical structure of urban agglomeration in the Greater Bay Area through the use of social network analysis method.This is the inaugural application of big data based on location services in the study of urban agglomeration network structure,which represents a novel research perspective on this topic.The study reveals that the density of network linkages in the Greater Bay Area urban agglomeration has reached 100%,indicating a mature network-like spatial structure.This structure has given rise to three distinct communities:Shenzhen-Dongguan-Huizhou,Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing,and Zhuhai-Zhongshan-Jiangmen.Additionally,cities within the Greater Bay Area urban agglomeration play different roles,suggesting that varying development strategies may be necessary to achieve staggered development.The study demonstrates that large datasets represented by LBS can offer novel insights and methodologies for the examination of urban agglomeration network structures,contingent on the appropriate mining and processing of the data. 展开更多

In recent years,with the introduction of the strategy to strengthen the country’s transportation infrastructure and the continuous implementation of new economic development models such as integrating transportation with tourism,various open service areas integrating highway service areas with local tourism have emerged nationwide.Examples include the Yangcheng Lake service area in Jiangsu and the Lengshui service area in Chongqing.This paper focuses on the design example of the Dazu Stone Carving service area on the Chongqing section of the Yurong Expressway,comprehensively considering factors such as construction scale,terrain conditions,and local urban planning.It analyzes and studies the traffic flow design of unilateral agglomerative open service areas around two vehicle traffic conversion links:between the main expressway and the service area,and between the service area and local roads.The aim is to provide a case study reference for similar projects. 展开更多

Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration covers a large number of rural areas.These areas have unique topographic conditions,diverse landscape types,and beautiful natural environment,but the economic conditions are underdeveloped;the ecological environment is fragile and the tourism carrying capacity is low.At the same time,they are facing the problems of lack of tourism facilities and low management level of scenic spots.Taking Yingshan area as an example,this paper evaluates the rural tourism development conditions from the aspects of location conditions,complementarity of tourism resources,highlights of tourism resources,tourist source conditions,and ecological environment,and makes a detailed plan for the functional zoning and tourism products of rural tourism development.The research shows that in order to realize the sustainable development of rural tourism resources,Chengdu Chongqing urban agglomeration should take the global tourism concept as the scientific guidance,ecological protection as the premise,agricultural resources as the basis,and culture as the soul,carry out rational,orderly,and scientific rural ecotourism development,and create high-quality rural ecotourism products. 展开更多

To study the difference of industrial location among different industries, this article is to test the spatial agglomeration across industries and firm sizes at the city level. Our research bases on a unique plant-level data set of Beijing and employs a distance-based approach, which considers space as continuous. Unlike previous studies, we set two sets of references for service and manufacturing industries respectively to adapt to the investigation in the intra-urban area. Comparing among eight types of industries and different firm sizes, we find that: 1) producer service, high-tech industries and labor-intensive manufacturing industries are more likely to cluster, whereas personal service and capital-intensive industries tend to be randomly dispersed in Beijing; 2) the spillover of the co-location of finns is more important to knowledge-intensive industries and has more significant impact on their allocation than business-oriented services in the intra-urban area; 3) the spatial agglomeration of service industries are driven by larger establishments, whereas manufac- turing industries are mixed. 展开更多

The rapid development of modern urban agglomerations has reshaped the territory of China’s economic geography and reconstructed the spatial forms of Chinese cities and regions.Since the reform and opening-up,China’s urban agglomerations have experienced three stages,i.e.spontaneous cultivation,rapid growth,and the super leading role of planning.The gian development area composed of super urban agglomerations is becoming an emerging geographic unit that improves the urban development quality promotes regional integration processes and participates in global industria competition and innovative resource allocations in China.While encountering challenges such as insufficient innovation kinetic energy and implementation difficulties of cross-regional coordination mechanisms,it has also ushered in new opportunities brought about by the shift of the global urban network system focus,the accelerated formation of high-speed rail urban belts,the rise of innovative geographic unit communities,etc.As entering the new era,centering on the high-quality development requirements of urbanization and urban agglomerations,China should establish a new mechanism for more effective coordinated regional development,build an urban pattern of coordinated development of large,medium and small cities and towns with urban agglomerations as the main body,comprehensively enhance the competitiveness of urban agglomerations and regions,and take a steady and innovation-driven road to modernization. 展开更多

This paper adopts the perspective of urban economic linkage and the modified urban economic gravity model to conduct a comparative analysis of the economic gravity among cities in China’s three major urban agglomerations,including the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,the Yangtze River Delta,and the Pearl River Delta.The results show that,despite the ever-tightening economic linkages among cities in the urban agglomerations,the development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region falls behind that of the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta in terms of coordination,closeness,and balance.The economic linkages among cities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region are not as cohesive as they could be and display a significant“siphon effect”through Beijing and Tianjin as well as a prominently unidirectional economic flow.This study suggests that efforts should be put into directing the orderly flow of resources from Beijing and Tianjin to cities in Hebei and promoting a balanced economic flow among cities,thus facilitating the coordination of regional development. 展开更多

Surface Regional Heat(Cool) Island Effect and Its Diurnal Differences in Arid and Semiarid Resource-based Urban Agglomerations

With the rapid development of urban agglomerations in northwest arid and semiarid regions of China, the scope of the urban heat island(UHI) effect has gradually expanded and gradually connected, and has formed a regional heat island(RHI) with a larger range of impact to the regional environment. However, there are few studies on the heat island effect of urban agglomerations in arid and semiarid regions, so this paper selects the urban agglomeration of Hohhot, Baotou and Ordos(HBO) of Inner Mongolia, China as the study area. Based on the 8-day composite Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS) surface temperature data(156scenes in all) and land use maps for 2005, 2010, and 2015, we analyze the spatiotemporal distributions of regional heat(cool) islands(RH(C)I) and the responses of surface temperatures to land-use changes in the diurnal and interannual surface cities. The results showed that: 1) from 2005 to 2015, urban areas showed the cold island effect during the day, with the area of the cold island showing a shrinking feature;at night, they showed the heat island effect, with the area of the heat island showing a first decrease and then an increase.2) From 2005 to 2015, the land development(unutilized land to building land) brings the greatest temperature increase(ΔT = 1.36°C)during the day, while the greatest temperature change at night corresponds to the conversion of cultivated land to building land(ΔT =0.78°C) exhibited the largest changes at night. From 2010 to 2015, the land development(grassland to building land) bring the greatest temperature increase(ΔT = 0.85°C) during the day, while the great temperature change at night corresponds to the conversion of water areas to building land(ΔT = 1.38°C) exhibited the largest changes at night. Exploring the spatial and temporal evolution of surface urban heat(cool) islands in urban agglomerations in arid and semiarid regions will help to understand the urbanization characteristics of urban agglomerations and provide a reference for the formulation of policies for the coordinated and healthy development of the region and co-governance of regional environmental problems. 展开更多

本文利用2000—2019年我国县域数据,采用多期DID等方法探讨了电子商务进农村综合示范政策对县域农业发展水平的影响。研究结果显示,电子商务进农村综合示范政策对县域农业经济发展水平提高具有显著的促进作用,且这种促进作用具有长期效... 本文利用2000—2019年我国县域数据,采用多期DID等方法探讨了电子商务进农村综合示范政策对县域农业发展水平的影响。研究结果显示,电子商务进农村综合示范政策对县域农业经济发展水平提高具有显著的促进作用,且这种促进作用具有长期效应。这一结果在考虑实验组非随机分配、更换因变量和调整样本后仍然稳健。电子商务进农村综合示范政策主要通过农业产业集聚、农业金融服务改善两个途径对县域农业发展水平产生影响。异质性分析表明,电子商务进农村综合示范政策对粮食主产区、经济欠发达地区、地形平缓地区的农业发展水平的促进作用更强。因此,应重视农村电子商务发展对推进乡村全面振兴、促进共同富裕的重要作用,政府要在农村电子商务带头人培训、电子商务基础设施建设、农业产业集聚的产业空间布局规划等方面发挥作用,注重数字普惠金融与县域农业发展的融合,强化数字普惠金融的支持力度。 展开更多

城市群人口集聚对共同富裕的影响——基于粤港澳大湾区的分析 被引量:2

共同富裕是中国式现代化的重要特征和中国特色社会主义的本质要求,如何推进共同富裕目标的实现成为政府和学界亟待解决的难题。以粤港澳大湾区为样本探讨城市群人口集聚对城市群内部以及周边区域共同富裕的影响,在理论分析的基础上采用... 共同富裕是中国式现代化的重要特征和中国特色社会主义的本质要求,如何推进共同富裕目标的实现成为政府和学界亟待解决的难题。以粤港澳大湾区为样本探讨城市群人口集聚对城市群内部以及周边区域共同富裕的影响,在理论分析的基础上采用“全面FGLS”方法以及动态面板空间杜宾模型进行估计得到如下结论:粤港澳大湾区人口集聚无论是对于城市群内部共同富裕还是带动周边区域共同富裕均具有积极的促进作用,在短期内存在正向的空间溢出作用,但长期而言粤港澳大湾区人口不可能无限集聚,当发展到一定程度后拥挤效应将超过集聚效应对共同富裕产生负面影响。上述结论意味着当前粤港澳大湾区内部形成的多中心集聚的态势,空间协调发展程度较高,在推动城市群内部共同富裕的同时,短期内也带动了周边区域的发展,但长期持续的发展仍需人口在粤港澳全域更为均衡地分布,而非无限向粤港澳大湾区集聚。基于上述结论,提出应重视基础设施的互联互通、产业互联、城市互联等,促进粤港澳大湾区与粤东西两翼及山区人口等要素资源更为顺畅地流动,优化资源配置,促进粤港澳全域发展,实现真正意义上的先富带动后富,最终实现共同富裕。 展开更多

基于2002-2021年我国13个粮食主产区的省级面板数据,运用区位基尼系数和Super-SBM模型对粮食主产区粮食生产集聚度和粮食生产用水绿色效率分别进行测度,在此基础上通过面板模型探究粮食生产集聚对粮食生产用水绿色效率的影响,并利用中... 基于2002-2021年我国13个粮食主产区的省级面板数据,运用区位基尼系数和Super-SBM模型对粮食主产区粮食生产集聚度和粮食生产用水绿色效率分别进行测度,在此基础上通过面板模型探究粮食生产集聚对粮食生产用水绿色效率的影响,并利用中介效应模型对路径机制进行检验。结果表明:研究期内我国粮食主产区粮食生产集聚度整体呈上升趋势,粮食生产用水绿色效率呈现“北高南低”的空间分布状态且整体无明显改善。粮食生产集聚度与粮食生产用水绿色效率呈“倒U形”关系,规模化经营和种植结构调整在“倒U形”关系中发挥中介效应且规模化经营的中介效应更大,科技创新的中介效应不显著。因此政府应因地制宜制定合理的粮食生产集聚政策,引导农户、组织及企业适度规模经营,提高种植结构的合理性,建立粮食生产集聚与技术创新的高效联动机制,促进粮食生产用水绿色效率的提升。 展开更多

小流域是山地区域乡村聚落广泛存在的空间载体,随着新型城镇化建设、乡村振兴战略的实施,这里的聚落也开始发生剧烈变动,开始了更为集约的收缩型集聚。为了更好地发现其变化集聚的状态与趋势,对聚落发展提出合理的优化建议与引导,急需... 小流域是山地区域乡村聚落广泛存在的空间载体,随着新型城镇化建设、乡村振兴战略的实施,这里的聚落也开始发生剧烈变动,开始了更为集约的收缩型集聚。为了更好地发现其变化集聚的状态与趋势,对聚落发展提出合理的优化建议与引导,急需合适的评价工具与方法。因此,针对秦岭南麓小流域内聚落斑块零散存在的现实情况,借助“压力-状态-响应”评价模型,提出了聚焦小流域乡村聚落社会-生态健康发展的PSR评价方法以及聚焦关键问题的研究思路;进而以乾佑河柞水段的七条典型小流域为对象,借助核密度估算工具,进行内部聚落空间集聚特征的总结,建构起可进行比较的核点集聚区域、点轴集中区概念;并通过评价参数的筛选,明确了小流域、核点集聚区域双层级PSR评价体系,结合实践提出相关优化建议,也为小流域乡村聚落合理建设探索更科学的研究基础。 展开更多

意识要素集聚具有强烈的内源性自组织特征,但并不否认既有系统的存在,如各边疆民族地区一直以来都自觉融入中华民族大家庭的“意识系统”,在中国式现代化进程中,边疆民族地区铸牢中华民族共同体意识就是不断集聚中华民族共同体意识要素... 意识要素集聚具有强烈的内源性自组织特征,但并不否认既有系统的存在,如各边疆民族地区一直以来都自觉融入中华民族大家庭的“意识系统”,在中国式现代化进程中,边疆民族地区铸牢中华民族共同体意识就是不断集聚中华民族共同体意识要素的动态过程。本研究从利益共同体、精神共同体、文化共同体三个方面对边疆民族地区中华民族共同体意识进行概述,探讨了新时代边疆民族地区铸牢中华民族共同体意识的要素集聚效应,认为意识要素集聚的前提是能力,而能力障碍主要体现在经济和教育两个相关领域之中,探讨了经济基础与多元价值、空间差距与心理距离、传统文化与现代文化等“三个整合”,提出了相应的集聚机制与实践路径。 展开更多
