This paper examines how assimilating surface observations can improve the analysis and forecast ability of a four- dimensional Variational Doppler Radar Analysis System (VDRAS). Observed surface temperature and winds are assimilated together with radar radial velocity and reflectivity into a convection-permitting model using the VDRAS four-dimensional variational (4DVAR) data assimilation system. A squall-line case observed during a field campaign is selected to investigate the performance of the technique. A single observation experiment shows that assimilating surface observations can influence the analyzed fields in both the horizontal and vertical directions. The surface-based cold pool, divergence and gust front of the squall line are all strengthened through the assimilation of the single surface observation. Three experiments--assimilating radar data only, assimilating radar data with surface data blended in a mesoscale background, and assimilating both radar and surface observations with a 4DVAR cost function--are conducted to examine the impact of the surface data assimilation. Independent surface and wind profiler observations are used for verification. The result shows that the analysis and forecast are improved when surface observations are assimilated in addition to radar observations. It is also shown that the additional surface data can help improve the analysis and forecast at low levels. Surface and low-level features of the squall line-- including the surface warm inflow, cold pool, gust front, and low-level wind--are much closer to the observations after assimilating the surface data in VDRAS. 展开更多

Parallel computationtechnique and fast processing algorithms were developed for real-time data processing. Wear and scuffing failures often occur in marine transmission gears due to high friction and flash temperature at the interface between the meshing-teeth.In this paper,a numerical solution procedure was developed for the predictions of transient friction and flash temperature in the marine timing gears during one meshing circle based on the 3D line contact mixed lubrication simulation,which had been verified by comparing the flash temperature with those from Blok’s theory.The effect of machined surface roughness on the mixed lubrication characteristics is studied.The obtained results for several typical gear pairs indicate that gear pair 4-6 exhibits the largest friction and the highest interfacial temperature increase due to severe rough surface asperity contacts,while the polished gear surfaces yield the smallest friction and the lowest interfacial temperature.In addition,the influences of the operating conditions and the gear design parameters on the friction-temperature behaviors are discussed.It is observed that the conditions of heavy load and low rotational velocity usually lead to significantly increased friction and temperature.In the meantime,by optimizing the gear design parameters,such as the modulus and the pressure angle,the performance of interfacial friction and temperature can be significantly improved. 展开更多

A new ray-testing approach is presented to classify the part surfaces to core/cavity surfaces and undercut surfaces by automatic identifying the visibility of surfaces. A simple, direct and efficient algorithm to identify surface visibility is developed. The algorithm is robust and adapted to rather complicated geometry, so it is valuable in computer-aided mold design systems. To validate the efficiency of the approach, an experimental program is implemented. Case studies show that the approach is practical and valuable in automatic parting line and parting surface generation. 展开更多

This model is a comprehensive one with detailed description for the processes of vegetation, snow and soil. Particular attention has been paid to the cases with three water phases in the surface media. On the basis of the mixture theory and the theory of fluid dynamics of porous media, the system of universal conservational equations for water and heat of soil, snow and vegetation canopy has been constructed. On this background, all important factors that may affect the water and heat balance in media can be considered naturally, and each factor and term possess distinct physical meaning. In the computation of water content and temperature, the water phase change and the heat transportation by water flow are taken into account. Moreover, particular attention has been given to the water vapor diffusion in soil for arid or semi-arid cases, and snow compaction. In the treatment of surface turbulent fluxes, the difference between aerodynamic and thermal roughness is taken into account. The aerodynamic roughness of vegetation is calculated as a function of canopy density, height and zero-plane displacement. An extrapolation of log linear and exponential relationship is used when calculating the wind profile within canopy. The model has been validated against field measurements in off-line simulations. The desirable model′s performance leads to the conclusion that the IAP94 is able to reproduce the main physical mechanisms governing the energy and water balances in the global land surface. Part II of the present study will concern the validation in a 3-D experiment coupled with the IAP Two-Level AGCM. 展开更多

In order to further understand the land surface processes over the northern Tibetan Plateau, this study produced an off-line simulated examination at the Bujiao site on the northern Tibetan Plateau from June 2002 to April 2004, using the Noah Land Surface Model (Noah LSM) and observed data from the CAMP/Tibet experiment. The observed data were neces- sarily corrected and the number of soil layers in the Noah LSM was changed from 4 to 10 to enable this off-line simulation and analysis. The main conclusions are as follows: the Noah LSM performed well on the northern Tibetan Plateau. The simulated net radiation, upward longwave radiation, and upward shortwave radiation demonstrated the same remarkable annual and seasonal variation as the observed data, especially the upward longwave radiation. The simulated soil temperatures were acceptably close to the observed temperatures, especially in the shallow soil layers. The simulated freezing and melting processes were shown to start from the surface soil layer and spread down to the deep soil layers, but they took longer than the observed processes. However, Noah LSM did not adequately simulate the soil moisture. Therefore, additional high-quality, long-term observations of land surface-atmosphere processes over the Tibetan Plateau will be a key factor in proper adiustments of the model parameters in the future. 展开更多

A midlatitude squall line passed over the array of the Cooperative Convective Precipitation Experiment (CCOPE) on 1 August 1981. The structure and evolution of the squall line, and the correlations of the storm with surface thermodynamics and kinematic fields are investigated, mainly by using radar and surface mesonet data in CCOPE. The storm-wide precipitation efficiency is also estimated.The squall line was of an obvious process of metabolism. Thirty-four cells formed successively in front of the primary storm and eventually merged into it during the period 1700-2010 MDT. The newest cells formed near surface equivalent potential temperature maxima, and near surface moisture flux convergence zones or / and the 'temperature break lines'. The thunderstorm rainfall, with the precipitation efficiency of 54%, lags 25-30 min behind the moisture flux convergence on the average. 展开更多

探究隧道围岩-衬砌接触面在不同法向应力及不同粗糙度条件下的剪切特性规律,对进一步研究隧道围岩与衬砌间的相互作用及岩体稳定性具有重要的理论和工程意义。为考虑粗糙度条件,利用分形理论,通过改变分形公式中的分形维数D及分形粗糙度... 探究隧道围岩-衬砌接触面在不同法向应力及不同粗糙度条件下的剪切特性规律,对进一步研究隧道围岩与衬砌间的相互作用及岩体稳定性具有重要的理论和工程意义。为考虑粗糙度条件,利用分形理论,通过改变分形公式中的分形维数D及分形粗糙度G生成5种不同接触面,基于二维颗粒流程序(PFC^(2D)),建立接触面数值剪切模型,尺寸为150 mm×150 mm。开展同一接触面在不同法向应力下,数值模拟剪切试验及不同接触面在同一法向应力下的数值模拟试验;将数值剪切试验与室内剪切试验获得的剪切应力-剪切位移曲线进行对比,验证数值剪切模拟的可靠性。研究结果表明:(1)数值模型剪切破坏产生的裂隙主要集中于中间接触面处,破坏后的应力主要集中于接触面粗糙度最大处,破坏裂纹可分为剪切裂纹和张拉裂纹,其中张拉裂纹占主要优势;(2)剪切应力-剪切位移过程曲线存在爬坡、啃断、滑移三大阶段,具有明显的峰值强度和残余强度,法向位移随着剪切位移的增加而增大,产生剪胀效应;(3)随着法向应力增加,剪切和张拉裂纹数量增加,破坏现象越明显,峰值强度和残余强度增大,剪胀效应减小;(4)随着粗糙起伏度增大,即分形维数D的增大或者分形粗糙度G的减小,破坏裂纹数量增加,其中张拉裂纹增加较明显,峰值强度和残余强度增大,剪胀效应增大。 展开更多

利用常规地面高空观测、多普勒雷达、风廓线、VDRAS(Variational Doppler Radar Analysis System)和NCEP再分析资料,对2018年8月5—6日副热带高压(以下简称副高)控制下华北一次局地大暴雨过程中多个β中尺度对流系统触发和发展机制进行... 利用常规地面高空观测、多普勒雷达、风廓线、VDRAS(Variational Doppler Radar Analysis System)和NCEP再分析资料,对2018年8月5—6日副热带高压(以下简称副高)控制下华北一次局地大暴雨过程中多个β中尺度对流系统触发和发展机制进行了分析。结果表明:这次大暴雨发生在副高控制下,处于高温、高湿气团中,大气层结极不稳定。暴雨由多个相继发展的中尺度对流系统造成,分别是太行山迎风坡上西南—东北向、华北平原地区保定一带南北向、保定至霸州附近西南—东北向和以雄安新区为中心东西向原地生消的准静止MCS-Ⅰ、MCS-Ⅱ、MCS-Ⅲ和MCS-Ⅳ,均属于β中尺度。在相似的环境中,不同中尺度对流系统触发机制有较大差异,太行山迎风坡上的MCS-Ⅰ是由近地层偏东暖湿气流在迎风坡与山风形成的辐合抬升触发;由辐射差异和前期强降水形成的局地冷池受MCS-Ⅰ影响再次加强后,其出流与环境风形成的两条地面辐合线分别触发了MCS-Ⅱ和MCS-Ⅲ,并组织对流沿辐合线呈带状发展;而超低空偏东风增强叠加冷池出流在地形抬升作用下促使沿山暖湿气团进一步抬升,使得原本消亡的MCS-Ⅰ再次重建。MCS-Ⅳ发展最旺盛、持续时间最长,是大暴雨中心的直接制造者,一方面MCS-Ⅱ与MCS-Ⅲ、MCS-Ⅰ与MCS-Ⅳ的两次合并过程,是MCS-Ⅳ增强、持久的重要原因;另一方面边界层偏东风急流为MCS-Ⅳ的发展提供了水汽和不稳定能量等有利条件,同时推动其左前方中尺度涡旋的发展,导致MCS-Ⅳ所在地的气旋性涡度大大增加,加强了以急流轴为中心的垂直次级环流发展,造成MCS-Ⅳ的发展维持,形成华北平原地区以雄安新区为中心的东西向大暴雨带。 展开更多

车道线检测作为智能汽车安全驾驶的主要研究方向,能够在汽车偏离车道时及时发出预警,有效缓解交通拥挤、安全问题,但常规方法易受光照强度、阴影等环境因素影响,限制其使用范围,且检测误差较大。为此,提出基于逆透视变换的车道线激光精... 车道线检测作为智能汽车安全驾驶的主要研究方向,能够在汽车偏离车道时及时发出预警,有效缓解交通拥挤、安全问题,但常规方法易受光照强度、阴影等环境因素影响,限制其使用范围,且检测误差较大。为此,提出基于逆透视变换的车道线激光精准检测方法。该方法选用RS-LiDAR-16激光雷达作为车道数据采集装置,借助逆透视变换、顶视图空间坐标系转换各激光点数据,利用最大类间与最小类间方差算法找出激光点反射强度最佳阈值,作为车道表面及车道线数据判断依据,通过二值化算得出车道线各点数据,凭借最小二乘拟合法将这些数据拟合成线,最终检测出车道线。实验结果表明,所提方法车道线检测精准度高,逆透视变换降低了环境对检测结果的干扰。 展开更多
