Considering some new boundary conditions, it is assumed that the temperature drop across the crack surface is the result of the thermal conductivity index which controls heat conduction through the crack region. By the Fourier transforms, the thermal-elastic mixed boundary value problems are reduced to a system of singular integral equations which can be approximately solved by applying the Chebyshev polynomials. The numerical computation methods for the temperature, the displacement field and the thermal stress intensity factors (TSIFs) are presented. The normal temperature distributions (NTD) with different parameters along the crack surface are analyzed by numerical examples. The influence of the crack position and the thermal-elastic non- homogeneous parameters on the TSIFs of modes I and 11 at the crack tip is presented. Results show that the variation of the thickness of the graded coating has a significant effect on the temperature jump across the crack surfaces when keeping the thickness of the substrate constant, and the thickness of functionally graded material (FGM) coating has a significant effect on the crack in the substrate. The results can be expected to be used for the purpose of gaining better understanding of the thermal-mechanical behavior of graded coatings.展开更多

When calculating corrosion of reinforcement, the influence of loading should be considered based on the first law of Faraday electrolysis. The current density of the corrosion was measured by the linear polarization resistance method. The function of corrosion current density was obtained by nonlinear fitting method, and the influence coefficient of loading level to electrochemical equivalent was obtained base on the function of corrosion current density. The experimental results show that the corrosion current density increases with stress ratio of concrete structures. The reinforcement corrosion weight can be calculated through the influence coefficients of electrochemical equivalent and the result is in line with the actual situation.展开更多

The plate is subjected to coupled constant mechanical load and cyclically varying temperature. The material is assumed linearly elastic and nonlinear isotropic hardening with elastic modulus, yield strength and the thermal expansion coeffcient varying exponentially through the thickness of the plate. The boundaries between the shakedown area and the areas of elasticity, incremental collapse and reversed plasticity are determined, respectively. The shakedown of the counterpart made of homogeneous material with average material properties is also analyzed. The comparison between the results obtained in the two cases exhibits distinct qualitative and quantitative difference, indicating the importance of shakedown analysis for FG structures. Since FG structures are usually used in the cases where severe coupled cyclic thermal and mechanical loadings are applied, the approach developed and the results obtained are significant for the analysis and design of such kind of structures.展开更多

This was facilitated by the results of Thiam (2016) [4] obtained on the distribution of the vertical contact stress in the space described by the dual wheels. The analysis of the results of this study, on all the loading circles considered, shows that the radius loading circle equal to 0.181 m makes it possible to most probably represent the effect of the dual wheels. With this new surface, the effect of the dual wheels can be determined in 2D. The choice of this load is confirmed by a study in case of overload. Thus, the single axle with dual wheels is represented by a simplified diagram equipped on each side by a disk of radius 0.181 m. These results are obtained using a numerical simulation under Cast3M with a gravelly lateritic pavement.展开更多

Equivalent static wind loads, which can generally aim at determining a specific response, are widely used by structural designers. A method for equivalent static wind loads applicable to multi-responses is proposed in this paper. A modified load- response-correlation (LRC) method corresponding to a particular peak response is presented, and the similarity algorithm implemented for the group response is described. The main idea of the algorithm is that two responses can be put into one group if the value of one response is close to that of the other response, when the structure is subjected to equivalent static wind loads aiming at the other response. Based on the modified LRC, the grouping response method is put forward to construct equivalent static wind loading. This technique can simultaneously reproduce peak responses for some grouped responses. To verify its computational accuracy, the method is applied to an actual large-span roof structure. Calculation results show that when the similarity of responses in the same group is high, equivalent static wind loads with high accuracy and reasonable magnitude of equivalent static wind distribution can be achieved.展开更多

The results show that the thermal shrinkage in the direction perpendicular to the lamination of the composites gradually increases with the increase of the heat treatment temperatures from room temperature (25 ℃ ) to 1000 ℃. However, the composites in the direction parallel to the lamination show an expansion behavior. Beyond 1 000℃, in the two directions the composites exhibit a larger degree of shrinkage due to the densification and crystallization. The mechanical properties of the composites show the minimum values in the temperature range from 600 to 800 ℃ as the hydration water of geopolymer matrix is lost. The addition of α-Al2O3 particle filler into the composites clearly increases the onset crystalline temperature of leucite (KAlSi2O6) from the amorphous geopolymer matrix. In addition, the addition of α-Al2O3 particles into the composites can not only help to keep volume stable at high temperatures but also effectively improve the mechanical properties of the composites subjected to thermal load to a certain extent. The main toughening mechanisms of the composites subjected to thermal load are attributed to fiber pulling-out.展开更多

But their applications are limited as the scales of mechanical equipments are too large. This paper puts forward the principle of minimization of the equivalent load for the general layout design of launching vertical shiplifts, based on the analysis of the load probability of the main hoists and their key mechanical equipments. The principle aims at determining the optimal weight of counterweight so that the equivalent loads of the main hoists of shiplifls are minimized, and larger ships are permitted to pass through. The theory and method presented in this paper have been applied in the design of the first step and third step shiplifts of the Goupitan Hydro Power Station. This has resulted in the breakthrough of the design and manufacture of launching vertical shiplifts so that the ships with tonnage of 500 t can pass through hydro dams for this type of shiplifts, comparing with the largest launching shiplift in Yantan Hydro Power Station with the 250 t shiplift.展开更多

The derivation of the classical expression of LRC formula is based on a specific command response at a critical position, and the ESWL distribution has only one form in this case. In this paper, a general expression of LRC formula is derived based on a specific command response at all positions. For the general expression, ESWLs can be expressed by load-response correlation coefficients, response-response correlation coefficients, RMS values of the fluctuating wind loads, and peak factor in the form of matrices. By comparing the expressions of LRC method, it was found that the classical expression was only one form of the general one. The general expression which introduces the response-response correlation coefficients provided more options for structural engineers to estimate ESWLs and offered further insights into the LRC method. Finally, a cable-stayed bridge, a rigid three span continuous girder bridge, and a suspension bridge were used to verify the correctness of the general expression of LRC method.展开更多

Attention focuses on minimum failure load amplitudes and failure locations, von Mises' equivalent stress along the plate thickness is also addressed. Several distributed and localized loading conditions are considered. Loads act on the top of the plate. Bi-sinusoidal and uniform loads are taken into account for distributed loadings, while stepwise constant centric and off-centric loadings are addressed in the case of localized loadings. Analysis is performed considering plates whose length-to-thickness ratio a/h can be as high as 100 (thin plates) and as low as 2 (very thick plates). Results are obtained via several 2D plate models. Classical theories (CTs) and higher order models are applied. Those theories are based on polynomial approximation of the displacement field. Among the higher order theories (HOTs) HOTsa models account for the transverse shear deformations, while HOTs models account for both transverse shear and transverse normal deformations. LHOTs represent a local application of the higher order theories. A layerwise approach is thus assumed: by means of mathematical interfaces, the plate is considered to be made of several fictitious layers. The exact 3D solution is presented in order to determine the accuracy of the results obtained via the 2D models. In this way a hierarchy among the 2D theories is established. CTs provide highly accurate results for a/h greater than 10 in the case of distributed loadings and greater than 20 for localized loadings. Results obtained via HOTs are highly accurate in the case of very thick plates for bi-sinusoidal and centric loadings. In the case of uniform and off-centric loadings a high gradient is present in the neighborhood of the plate top. In those cases, LHOTs yield results that match the exact solution.展开更多

On the basis of this transform and the small deflection theory of elastic thin plates, the deflection and stress formulae of CRCP under the concentrated vehicle load with a hollow foundation are put forward. The sensitivity of parameters is analyzed. The results show that maximum deflection is directly proportional to the concentrated vehicle load and the slab width, and inversely proportional to the lateral bending stiffness and slab thickness. The effects of slab width and thickness are significant with regard to maximum deflection. Maximum stress is directly proportional to the concentrated vehicle load and the slab width as well as inversely proportional to slab thickness. The effect of slab thickness is significant with regard to maximum stress. According to the calculation results, the most effective measure to reduce maximum deflection and stress is to increase slab thickness.展开更多

To solv...Static load tests are an important means of supervising and detecting a crane's lift capacity. Due to space restrictions, however, there are difficulties and potential danger when testing large bridge cranes. To solve the loading problems of large-tonnage cranes during testing, an equivalency test is proposed based on the similarity theory and BP neural networks. The maximum stress and displacement of a large bridge crane is tested in small loads, combined with the training neural network of a similar structure crane through stress and displacement data which is collected by a physics simulation progressively loaded to a static load test load within the material scope of work. The maximum stress and displacement of a crane under a static load test load can be predicted through the relationship of stress, displacement, and load. By measuring the stress and displacement of small tonnage weights, the stress and displacement of large loads can be predicted, such as the maximum load capacity, which is 1.25 times the rated capacity. Experimental study shows that the load reduction test method can reflect the lift capacity of large bridge cranes. The load shedding predictive analysis for Sanxia 1200 t bridge crane test data indicates that when the load is 1.25 times the rated lifting capacity, the predicted displacement and actual displacement error is zero. The method solves the problem that lifting capacities are difficult to obtain and testing accidents are easily possible when 1.25 times related weight loads are tested for large tonnage cranes.展开更多

According to the calculation results, the most effective measure to reduce maximum deflection and stress is to increase slab thickness.

文摘The equivalent impedance parameters of loads have been widely used to identify and locate the harmonic sources. However, the existing calculation methods suffer from outliers caused by the zero-crossing of the denominator. These outliers can result in inaccuracy and unreliability of harmonic source location. To address this issue, this paper proposes an innovative method of equivalent impedance parameter calculation of three-phase symmetrical loads that avoid outliers. The correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method are verified by simulations on Simulink using actual monitoring data. The results show that the proposed method is not only simple and easy to implement but also highly accurate.

文摘Static load tests are an important means of supervising and detecting a crane's lift capacity. The method solves the problem that lifting capacities are difficult to obtain and testing accidents are easily possible when 1.25 times related weight loads are tested for large tonnage cranes.
