This paper explores college students' attitudes toward Chinglish through a questionnaire. A primary finding is that most college students accept Chinglish as legitimate communication, considering it to be 1) a tool to energize or vivify the social atmosphere, and 2) a source of catchwords and phrases specifically employed in communication with friends. Despite their acceptance and use of Chinglish, the questionnaire reveals, also,that college students lack linguistic understanding of Chinglish and are unaware of how it may interfere with acquisition of correct English.
