The Development of a Geographic Information System(GIS) Database for Jiuzhaigou National Nature Reserve and Its Application

The objective of this paper is to develop a GIS(Geographic Information System) database for Jiuzhaigou National Nature Reserve(Jiuzhaigou,hereafter) in China and demonstrate its application as a research tool.A cost-effective procedure was developed to compile a variety of geographical and biological data of the study area in terms of popular GIS format such as shape files.These files were further calibrated and validated using field surveys data.The developed GIS database was used to quantify the distributions of the wildlife(amphibians,mammals,and birds) using the distances of the wildlife to the centerline of the bus-tour routes.The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to quantify the correlation in space between pairs of different wildlife using the number of habitats for given space contexts.An ArcObject-based macro was developed to perform the analysis.The results showed the majority of the habitats of wildlife are located in the proximity of the tour-bus routes with an average distance ranging from 564 to 894 m depending on types of wildlife.This indicates a possibility of the disturbance to the wildlife by human activities.The correlation coefficient of the wildlife ranged from 0.36 to 0.64 depending on pairs of wildlife,indicating some correlations in space.However,due to the limited sample size,the statistical significances need to be further investigated.This paper has successfully demonstrated the use of the GIS-based database as a research tool for environmental study.

Chemical simulation teaching system based on virtual reality and gesture interaction

Background Most existing chemical experiment teaching systems lack solid immersive experiences,making it difficult to engage students.To address these challenges,we propose a chemical simulation teaching system based on virtual reality and gesture interaction.Methods The parameters of the models were obtained through actual investigation,whereby Blender and 3DS MAX were used to model and import these parameters into a physics engine.By establishing an interface for the physics engine,gesture interaction hardware,and virtual reality(VR)helmet,a highly realistic chemical experiment environment was created.Using code script logic,particle systems,as well as other systems,chemical phenomena were simulated.Furthermore,we created an online teaching platform using streaming media and databases to address the problems of distance teaching.Results The proposed system was evaluated against two mainstream products in the market.In the experiments,the proposed system outperformed the other products in terms of fidelity and practicality.Conclusions The proposed system which offers realistic simulations and practicability,can help improve the high school chemistry experimental education.

A Privacy Preservation Method for Attributed Social Network Based on Negative Representation of Information

Due to the presence of a large amount of personal sensitive information in social networks,privacy preservation issues in social networks have attracted the attention of many scholars.Inspired by the self-nonself discrimination paradigmin the biological immune system,the negative representation of information indicates features such as simplicity and efficiency,which is very suitable for preserving social network privacy.Therefore,we suggest a method to preserve the topology privacy and node attribute privacy of attribute social networks,called AttNetNRI.Specifically,a negative survey-based method is developed to disturb the relationship between nodes in the social network so that the topology structure can be kept private.Moreover,a negative database-based method is proposed to hide node attributes,so that the privacy of node attributes can be preserved while supporting the similarity estimation between different node attributes,which is crucial to the analysis of social networks.To evaluate the performance of the AttNetNRI,empirical studies have been conducted on various attribute social networks and compared with several state-of-the-art methods tailored to preserve the privacy of social networks.The experimental results show the superiority of the developed method in preserving the privacy of attribute social networks and demonstrate the effectiveness of the topology disturbing and attribute hiding parts.The experimental results show the superiority of the developed methods in preserving the privacy of attribute social networks and demonstrate the effectiveness of the topological interference and attribute-hiding components.

Power Information System Database Cache Model Based on Deep Machine Learning

At present,the database cache model of power information system has problems such as slow running speed and low database hit rate.To this end,this paper proposes a database cache model for power information systems based on deep machine learning.The caching model includes program caching,Structured Query Language(SQL)preprocessing,and core caching modules.Among them,the method to improve the efficiency of the statement is to adjust operations such as multi-table joins and replacement keywords in the SQL optimizer.Build predictive models using boosted regression trees in the core caching module.Generate a series of regression tree models using machine learning algorithms.Analyze the resource occupancy rate in the power information system to dynamically adjust the voting selection of the regression tree.At the same time,the voting threshold of the prediction model is dynamically adjusted.By analogy,the cache model is re-initialized.The experimental results show that the model has a good cache hit rate and cache efficiency,and can improve the data cache performance of the power information system.It has a high hit rate and short delay time,and always maintains a good hit rate even under different computer memory;at the same time,it only occupies less space and less CPU during actual operation,which is beneficial to power The information system operates efficiently and quickly.

Research and Application of Meteorological Response Measures for Civil Engineering and Data Acquisition System

Meteorological conditions have a very important impact on the development of construction projects.In order to assist project site managers to quickly and accurately deal with the engineering risks brought by meteorological conditions,meteorological risk assessment indicators for civil construction are established based on the actual impact of different meteorological conditions on each sub-project of civil engineering.A meteorological intelligent management system is created,and it will select reasonable countermeasures from the integrated existing database and push them to on-site construction managers based on meteorological risk assessment indicators.Through the pre-set construction log module,the managers can give feedback on the application effect of the pushed measures,and achieve the effect of construction data collection,correction and expansion of the existing database.

Information on Mapping and Vaccination Data in a Locality System

During the pandemic, technological innovation provided a platform with a range of uses, including in the healthcare industry. Technology is currently being used in vaccination drives run by many governments across the world to help spread vaccines quickly and efficiently. The technology makes healthcare personnel more effective at their professions and greatly raises the standard of service in the industry. The researchers undertook this study to create a suitable and long-lasting immunization database with a mapping method to give a better perspective of the immunization status. To gather essential information for this study, the researchers spoke with the local health officer in the targeted area. The obtained data then served as the basis for the system’s capabilities and features, becoming the target problems addressed by the developers. The investigation found that the majority of procedures and interactions are carried out manually and recorded on an unprotected, antiquated Excel spreadsheet. The researchers’ technology also shows to be a superior way to deal with the problems and difficulties while making their health-related transactions and operations quicker, safer, and much more effective.

GIS Platform-based Multi-source Information System for Evaluation of Cu, W and Au Resources in the Northern Qilian, China

Based on the information of geology, geochemistry, geophysics and remote sensing, the GIS of multi-source information is used to evaluate Cu, W and Au mineral resources in Northern Qilian, China. As the GIS evaluation system works out in the thinking of geological prospecting, its functions include file management, graph edition, database maintenance, information inquiry and comprehensive spatial analysis as well as prospecting target prognosis. Accordingly, the GIS evaluation system can be used directly and conveniently for inquiry and analysis of visual graphs or images.

Application and research of global grid database design based on geographic information

Energy crisis and climate change have become two seriously concerned issues universally. As a feasible solution, Global Energy Interconnection(GEI) has been highly praised and positively responded by the international community once proposed by China. From strategic conception to implementation, GEI development has entered a new phase of joint action now. Gathering and building a global grid database is a prerequisite for conducting research on GEI. Based on the requirement of global grid data management and application, combining with big data and geographic information technology, this paper studies the global grid data acquisition and analysis process, sorts out and designs the global grid database structure supporting GEI research, and builds a global grid database system.

Eco－environmental information system of Tianjin City─Design，implementation and applications

This paper describes the design, implementation and applications of theeco-environmental information system in Tianjin City, which is the kernel of the decision support sys-tem for urban eco-environmental regulation (DSSUER) The design of this information system isbased on the analysis of the requirements of users. The system features that it has expendability,maintainability and universality, makes data be shared between different components of DSSUERand provides help facilities and protection. The system is built by using database and graphic basetechnologies it consists of the main control module, data-management module and data-proassingniodule. The applications of this system is demonstrated by an example which is the case ofsuitability analysis of land use for residential areas in Tianjin.

Identification of landing sites for rescue helicopters in mountains with use of Geographic Information Systems

Helicopters are often used in mountain rescue both for rescuers moving in the area of accidents and for evacuating victims, but in steep or forested terrain finding a landing place can be problematic. The main aim of this research is to use Digital Elevation Model(DEM) and cartographic database analysis to select locations that can be used as landing site for the rescue helicopters. Methods were based on GIS analysis;both raster and vector data were used for identifying touchdown points for rescue helicopters. Based on DEM data, locations with a low slope gradient were identified;topographic vector data were used for identifying unforested sites. Then buffer zones for buildings and power lines were excluded, and it was checked whether the areas had any topographic features that prevented helicopter landings. The findings were verified on an orthophotomap. In result, GIS analyses have selected 1232 polygons that fulfilled initial criteria. Their verification on orthophotomap has shown that only 55% of them could be potentially used as landing site. Landing sites can be found mainly on side ridges of mountain ranges and in valley beds, when those on ridges are most important in this research. The greatest difficulties and methodological challenges are posed by: identification of sites having a shape which prevents landing, the obsolescence of data due to environment dynamics, the presence of features that are not shown on maps but prevent helicopter landings. A map of landing sites is a very useful tool to conduct rescue operations, but each use of a given landing site requires both in-field and numerical verification. The analysis demonstrated that GIS toolsare useful in pre-planning of rescue missions, and also showed that such data must be kept up-to-date and in-field verification is needed continuously, the more so as it plays an important role in ensuring the safety of rescuers and victims.

Development of a Web-Based Geographic Information System for Mass Land Valuation: A Case Study of Westlands Constituency, Nairobi County

The development of a web-based Geographic Information System for mass property valuation was the main focus of this research. The developed web GIS allows effective dissemination, extraction and analysis of mass land valuation information over the Internet. It also allows for automation of the mass property valuation process by compiling a centralized mass valuation roll database. The Westlands Constituency, one of the administrative regions of the Nairobi City County was used as a case study. The research focused on automation of the mass property valuation roll by creating a centralized database that is accessible by all users on the web-based GIS portal. This was done by customizing and integrating a web-based GIS system based on open source QuantumGIS, GeoServer and PostgreSQL/PostGIS as a relational database. Leaflets APIs were used for the development of an interactive and friendly geographic user interface. The developed system enables users to view and interact with the spatial data. This improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the decision making process and data sharing for mass property valuation and optimal property taxation purposes.

Soil Database Management Software Development for Optimizing Land Resource Information Utilization to Support National Food Security

Since land resource database development in 1987/1988, a large amount of digital data in spatial, tabular and metadata format has been collected and generated. There are some application softwares of soil database to manage such a large amount of data, i.e.: Side & Horizon (SHDE4), Soil Sample Analysis (SSA), and Land Unit in dbf file, while Site and Horizon is in DataEase formats. The database contains soil physics and chemical property data of each soil horizon from surface to effective soil depth, climate, land surface condi- tions, and other parameters required for soil classification. Currently, database management software for land resources is still based on DOS and is stand alone. The system is not efficient and effectively used as Agri- cultural Land Resource Information System. At present, as a key component of this system requires review and development of new database software is compatible with the development of information technology. This paper explains about development of interactive agricultural land resources information system for op- timizing land resources data utilization. Hopefully, the software can give contributions in national Agricul- tural Land Resources System Information development for supporting food security.

Analysis on the Construction Path of Database of Zhuang and Yao Medicine Information Resources

In order to realize the sharing,exchange,protection and rational utilization of Zhuang and Yao medicine resources,the problems encountered in the development of Zhuang and Yao medicine industry can be solved by using modern information technology in accordance with the present situation of Zhuang and Yao medicine resources in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the actual needs of the development of ethnic medicine.This paper expounds the significance of constructing the database of Zhuang and Yao medicine information resources from three aspects:the inheritance and development of Zhuang and Yao medicine,the sustainable development of Zhuang and Yao medicine industry and the information service system.On this basis,the principle and framework of constructing Zhuang and Yao medicine information resource database are put forward.

Journal of Arid Land was included in Abstract Journal,All-Russian Institute of Scientific and Technical Information(VINITI) Database

On December 22, 2010, an E-mail by Dr. Elena Raevskaya, the manager of Asia and Africa Section, All-Russian Institute of Scientific and Technical Information （V1NITI）, was sent to Journal Publishing Center, Xinjiang Insti- tute of Ecology and Geography, CAS and said “Here is some new information about the Chinese journals evaluated by our experts. Ten journals have been found informative and useful in our work and have been included in VINITI database for regular abstraction （some of these journals were reexamined by expertise）.”

The Concept of Information Support for Bi-oresource and Ecosystem Research in the North-West Pacific: Theory and Practical Implementation

The first part of the article provides an overview of the theoretical evidence, the main provisions, and the implementation strategy of information support for bioresource and ecosystem research in the north-west Pacific, which has been conducted over the past 20 years in the Russian Far East Research Institute TINRO-Center. In short, the concept consists of a combination of the following four assertions: 1) For the steady and sustainable development of the Russian Far East, the entire Russian Federation and the Asia-Pacific Region in general, environmental, food, economic, and other security is required, which cannot be achieved without the rational use of bioresources based on the ecosystem approach to the management of aquatic bioresources. 2) For the inventory, appraisal, monitoring, forecasting of the state of and management the natural water resources when applying this approach, statistically relevant quantitative information is required on the greatest possible number of constituents of marine biocenosis of the north-western Pacific for the longest possible period of time, which is only available at the TINRO-Center. 3) This valuable data should be organized into databases, based on which geo-information and other electronic information systems are prepared, and based on these map atlases and reference books on natural water resources, using automated workplaces created especially for this. 4) The resulting unique information support will be of great value not only for practical purposes, but also for science, both applied and fundamental. Next comes a summary of the many years of work on the practical implementation of this concept and the key achievements in this field obtained by the TINRO-Center by the end of 2015 are reviewed. At the end, some plans for the near future are outlined.

Information Content Inclusion Relation and its Use in Database Queries

A database stores data in order to provide the user with information. However, how a database may achieve this is not always clear. The main reason for this seems that we, who are in the database community, have not fully understood and therefore clearly defined the notion of “the information that data in a database carry”, in other words, “the information content of data”. As a result, databases’ capability is limited in terms of answering queries, especially, when users explore information beyond the scope of data stored in a database, the database normally cannot provide it. The underlying reason of the problem is that queries are answered based on a direct match between a query and data (up to aggregations of the data). We observe that this is because the information that data carry is seen as exactly the data per se. To tackle this problem, we propose the notion of information content inclusion relation, and show that it formulates the intuitive notion of the “information content of data” and then show how this notion may be used for the derivation of information from data in a database.
