The obvious "excess heat" phenomenon can take place only when the electrolysis last more than ten days and amount of "excess heat" increased with the electrolysis time. This result is in agreement with the Gou’s theory mentioned in reference .展开更多

The aim of the hydrological simulations was to identify the role that the relief plays in the water coverage formation process, and to highlight the possible consequences of it on phosphorus transport processes. To support this aim, the rainfall-runoff and the one-dimensional flow routing modules have been modelled, and maximal water cover has been calculated. Measured water coverage data by remote sensing have been compared to calculated maximum water cover in several ways. Results support the existing perspective on excess water formation namely that the process is very complex, therefore, the coincidence of the locations of measured water cover with calculated maximum water cover based on the DEM (digital elevation model) and the river network is low. Analysis shows that as far as the larger depressions of the area are concerned, the error of the DEM is not high, but it is likely that at locations with small altitude differences, the error of DEM can cause larger errors. The results foreshadow the importance of the micro relief of the area on phosphorus transport.展开更多

The magnitudes of the excess correlations have been enhanced experimentally for photon emissions and proton densities in aqueous solutions when the loci containing these physical chemical reactions shared circular magnetic fields whose angular velocities were always changing. In the present experiment, quantities of spring water each placed in one of two loci (local or non-local) separated by 100 or 10,000 m were exposed simultaneously to toroidal magnetic fields within a paradigm that has been shown to produce conspicuous excess correlations in shifts of photon emissions, pH in spring water, and human brain activity as inferred by electroencephalography. The non-local area that was not injected with proton donors displayed a reliable shift in pH when the local area was serially injected with small aliquots of protons but only during the presentations of the field parameters known to produce “entanglement”. The effect was most obvious when the global geomagnetic activity was less than Kp < 3. The probability is high that convergent similarities in the magnitudes of the local geomagnetic intensities of the two loci enhance the strength of the excess correlations. These results suggest that a minimal energy and inexpensive system, not involving classical electromagnetic transmission through a medium, but influenced by the global geomagnetic field activity, could be employed to generalize and superpose information between two non-local spaces.展开更多

[Method] Substrate was designed to add additional 1/2 water after saturation and expansion. Disposable excessive soak- ing and regression relation of nutrition infusion of substrate plots were studied by design of 13 time gradient. Plant nutrition absorption and growth effects after sub- strate plots immersed by water were investigated by growing tomato. [Result] Con- centration and time of the three nutrition immersed in water had the regression equation of each, as follows: N=-2E-05t2+0.016 lt+2.0553, P=0.002 2t+2.248 5 and K=0.004 7t+0.875 8. With nutrition loss of the three, however, loss amount was al- most same with variance analysis of regression equation, which may result from its volatilization. Regression equations of P and K were: P=0.125 7t-0.117, and K=0.022 5t.1514, which led to adverse impact on plant absorption of N and K above ground, whose equations were N=20.64e-4E-0.4t, and K=E-06t2-0.011 3t+29.055. Meanwhile, un- der the condition, sound seedling index was not impacted a lot by excessive immer- sion. [Conclusion] This study has provided theoretical reference for guidance of sub- strate plot soaking method, cultivation and regulation, and breeding, as well as agri- cultural production.展开更多

The distribution and magnitude of tunnelling-induced initial excess pore water pressure have significant effects on the long-term consolidation settlement. A simple and reliable method for predicting the tunnel-induced initial excess pore water pressure calculation in soft clay is proposed. This method is based on the theory of elasticity and SKEMPTON's excess pore water pressure theory. Compared with the previously published field measurements and the finite-element modelling results, it is found that the suggested initial excess pore water pressure theory is in a good agreement with the measurements and the FE results. A series of parametric analyses are also carried out to investigate the influences of different factors on the distribution and magnitude of the initial excess pore water pressure in soft ground.展开更多

T...Chronic Kidney Disease with unknown etiology (CKDu) is one of the crucial health issues in North Central, Uva, North Western, North, Central, and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka and incapacitates the kidney function. The main source for the CKDu has not yet been identified, though many scientists believed that the number of certain drinking water quality parameters is changed due to the contamination of water sources by agricultural activities. Hence, the government of Sri Lanka introduces electrically driven Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis (BWRO) plants with a capacity of 10 tones/day to supply safe drinking water for the impacted community though it is an energy-intensive process. Concurrently, a smaller version of an electrically driven BWRO plant was introduced to the rural farming community for their domestic use. However, it was not practically worked out due to various reasons such as high cost, unavailability of electrical power supply for those villages. In this study, an economical air operated domestic use BWRO plant with zero-emission was designed. This anticipated system significantly reduces the government expenditures to subsidize the water purification cost by 50% of the existing expenses. Besides, simple payback time was found to be 2.5 years, and the benefit-cost ratio to be more than 1. Evaluating the performance with the conventional values, it comprehends with more sustainable and economically viable system compared to the existing method of water purification.展开更多

Usually, thermal therapy requires an infrared dry sauna. However, it is difficult for small clinics to acquire such an expensive and extensive system. The author assessed the efficacy of its substitution with hot water bottles. Moreover, there are no prior studies demonstrating the efficacy of thermal therapy in hemodialysis patients with chronic heart failure. Methods: The author evaluated plasma brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels in 98 hemodialysis patients in a clinic. A total of nine patients whose BNP levels were more than 500 pg/mL agreed to be enrolled in this study and received thermal therapy using hot water bottles. Results: Plasma BNP levels, a potential marker for CHF, tended to decrease (891 ± 448 pg/mL to 680 ± 339 pg/mL), but the difference was not significant (P = 0.0845). The oral temperature changed from 36.44℃± 0.45℃ to 37.04℃ ± 0.48℃ (+0.597℃, P < 0.0001). No side effects were experienced during the therapy. Moreover, most patients had an improvement in their symptoms and the ability to perform activities of daily living. Conclusion: Thermal therapy using hot water bottles is very safe and tends to reduce plasma BNP levels in hemodialysis patients with CHF.展开更多

The pile can be seriously destroyed by the soil liquefaction during strong earthquakes. The potentials of liquefaction and damages of pile foundation due to the liquefaction can be reduced by the implementation of the drainage in the liquefiable foundation. A patented pile technology, named rigidity-drain pile, was introduced. The partial section of the pile body was filled by materials with higher penetrability which forms some effective drainage channels in the pile. The principles and construction methods were presented. 3D models for both rigidity-drain pile and ordinary pile were built in FLAC3D code. The dynamic loadings were applied on the bottom of the model. According to the numerical results, in the case of the rigidity-drain pile, the water in the relevant distance range around the pile flows toward the pile drainage, the contour of the pore pressure shows a funnel form. Contrast to the ordinary pile, the rigidity-drain pile can dissipate the accumulated excess pore water, maintain effective stress and obviously reduce the possibility of surrounding soil liquefaction.展开更多

The stress-strain responses and the characteristics of excess pore water pressure after liquefaction were studied. It was found that the relationship between deviatoric stress and axial strain presented a sigmoid curve, and there was a good linearity relationship between normalized pore water pressure and deviatoric stress. On this basis, a constitutive model of stress-strain responses and a dissipation model of excess pore water pressure were established. It was found that the results predicted by the two models were in good agreement with the experimental data. The influence of relative densities and confining pressure on the characteristics of liquefied soil were studied, The results showed the relative densities and initial effective confining pressure all had an important influence on the stress-strain responses of liquefied saturated Nanjing fine sand. However, the dissipation model of excess pore water pressure after liquefaction was only affected by the confining pressure.展开更多

文摘[Objective] The aim was to study on impacts of excessive soaking N, P, and K insubstrate plots of and seedling growth. [Conclusion] This study has provided theoretical reference for guidance of sub- strate plot soaking method, cultivation and regulation, and breeding, as well as agri- cultural production.

文摘BACKGROUND The complications acute lung injury and acute kidney injury caused by severe inflammation are the main reasons of high mortality of severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).These two complications can both lead to water metabolism and acid-base balance disorders, which could act as additional critical factors affecting the disease trend.Aquaporins(AQPs),which can regulate the transmembrane water transport, have been proved to participate in the pathophysiological process of SAP and the associated complications, such as acute lung injury and acute kidney injury. Thus, exploring herbs that can effectively regulate the expression of AQP in SAP could benefit the prognosis of this disease.AIM To determine whether Yue-Bi-Tang(YBT)can regulate the water metabolism in rats with severe acute pancreatitis via regulating the expression of aquaporins.METHODS Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups, sham operation group(SOG),model group(MG),and treatment group(TG).SAP was induced with 3.5%sodium taurocholate in the MG and TG.Rats in the TG were administered with YBT while SOG and MG rats were given the same volume of saline.Blood and tissue samples were harvested to detect serum inflammatory cytokines, histopathological changes, malondialdehyde and superoxide dismutase in the lung, and protein and mRNA expression of kidney injury molecule-1,α-smooth muscle actin, and vimentin in the kidney, and AQP1 and 4 in the lung, pancreas, and kidney.RESULTS The serum interleukin-10,tumor necrosis factorα,and creatinine levels were higher in the MG than in the SOG.Tumor necrosis factorαlevel in the TG was lower than that in the MG.Malondialdehyde level in lung tissues was higher than in the SOG.The pathological scores and edema scores of the pancreas, lung, and kidney tissues in the MG were all higher than those in the SOG and TG.The protein expression of AQP4 in lung tissues and AQP1 in kidney tissues in the MG were higher than those in the SOG and TG.The expression of vimentin was significantly higher in the MG than in the SOG.The expression of AQP1 mRNA in the lung and kidney, and AQP4 mRNA in the kidney was up-regulated in the MG compared to the SOG.CONCLUSION YBT might regulate water metabolism to reduce lung and kidney edema of SAP rats via decreasing AQP expression, and alleviate the tissue inflammatory injury.

文摘The electrical resistivity method was verified as an optional technique to monitor the change of mesostructure of saturated soils. To investigate the change laws of resistivity and analyze the reliquefaction meso-mechanism during the consecutive liquefaction process, five successive impact liquefaction tests were performed in a one-dimensional cubical chamber. The resistivity variation and excess pore water pressure(EPWP)were measured. The results indicate that the excess pore water pressure experienced four stages:quick increase stage, slow dissipation stage, rapid dissipation stage, and stability stage.Meanwhile,a swift decrease of resistivity emerged before the start of the rapid dissipation stage of EPWP,and then an increasing trend of resistivity is demonstrated with the densification of soil.It is proved that the vertical pore connectivity of liquefied sand is better than its random deposit state, based on a comparative study of porosity calculated from the settlement and resistivity of sand after each test.

文摘Tunnelling-induced long-term consolidation settlement attracts a great interest of engineering practice. A series of parametric analyses are also carried out to investigate the influences of different factors on the distribution and magnitude of the initial excess pore water pressure in soft ground.

文摘Studying spatial and temporal characteristics of regional groundwater recharge will guide the scientific management and sustainable development of regional water resources. This study investigated stable isotopes(δ^(18)O and δ^(2) H)of precipitation, groundwater, river water and lake water during 2019-2020 in Qinghai Lake Basin to reveal the spatial and temporal characteristics of groundwater recharge. The local meteoric water line was simulated using ordinary least squares regression(δ^(2) H=7.80δ^(18)O+10.60).The local evaporation lines of the river water, lake water and groundwater were simulated asδ^(2) H=6.21δ^(18)O-0.72,δ^(2) H=5.73δ0-3.60 and δ^(2) H=6.59δ0+1.76,respectively.The δ^(2) H and δ^(18)O of river water and groundwater were in more depleted values due to the recharge by precipitation at high altitudes or precipitation effects, and theδ^(2) H andδ^(18)O of the lake water were in more enriched values because of evaporation. The relationship between the δ^(2) H and δ^(18)O of groundwater and river water was not significantly different, indicating a strong hydrological connection between the groundwater and river water surrounding Qinghai Lake.Additionally, the maximum values of δ^(18)O and the minimum values of lc-excess of groundwater in most regions were both in August, and the minimum values of δ^(18)O and the maximum values of lc-excess of groundwater in most regions were both in October. Therefore, the groundwater was recharged by soil water with strong evaporation in August and recharged by precipitation at high altitudes in October. The recharge rate of groundwater was relatively fast in areas with large slopes and large hydraulic gradients(e.g.,south of Qinghai Lake),and in areas with strong hydrological connections between the groundwater and river water(e.g.,the Buha River Valley). Those results can provide data support for protection and utilization of water resources in Qinghai Lake Basin, and provide reference for groundwater research in closed lake basins on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
文摘Chronic Kidney Disease with unknown etiology (CKDu) is one of the crucial health issues in North Central, Uva, North Western, North, Central, and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka and incapacitates the kidney function. Evaluating the performance with the conventional values, it comprehends with more sustainable and economically viable system compared to the existing method of water purification.
文摘Introduction: The use of repeated thermal therapy for improving the symptoms of chronic heart failure (CHF) has been recently demonstrated. Conclusion: Thermal therapy using hot water bottles is very safe and tends to reduce plasma BNP levels in hemodialysis patients with CHF.
文摘Hungary is located in the deepest part of the Pannonian Basin, which is affected by floodwaters.Lowland areas are particularly vulnerable to floods. Many natural and anthropogenic processes have contributed to the formation of these flood patches, after river regulation(decisively from the middle of 18th century)and continue to affect them. The objective of this research is to reveal the processes of landscape-change in areas of waterlogging,or areas threatened by excess water inundation in order to establish methods of adaptive excess water management. The analysis focuses on examining the previously prevalent land-use structure and linear infrastructure elements(green, blue infrastructures)of the past 200-250 years that can be identified using historical, military maps and aerial photos.Historical maps compare different periods of 50-60 years prevalence. As a result of this analysis, the role of watercourses in shaping landscapes and human intervention process can be monitored and supported with maps including data. The processing consisted of geographic information system(GIS)methods:georeference the historical maps and digitalize the well-separable land-uses of the sample area. The results confirmed the process of landscape-change and the trend of green areas:cultivated areas and the spread of settlements. In conclusion,landscape-changing analyses of landscape-changes provide valuable data onto identifying changes in land-use,which are complemented by hydrological databases, especially those related to waterlogging areas,as they adequately support adaptive excess water management methods in areas with specific characteristics. The results show which land-uses can be considered as permanent, stable land-uses in the given sample area and broach whether changes within the green and blue infrastructure network contribute to the increase or decrease of excess water formation.

文摘Water and liquid are the material basis of human metabolism.Traditional Chinese medicine believes that water and liquid metabolism is a very complex process that requires the synergy of the internal organs, but mainly the physiological functions of the lungs, spleen and kidneys. If the function or structure of the spleen, lungs, kidneys,or triple-burner is abnormal,it is easy to cause abnormalities in the body's water metabolism, which in turn leads to the production of pathological products such as damp phlegm.

文摘Pile foundation is widely used in the offshore engineering. Contrast to the ordinary pile, the rigidity-drain pile can dissipate the accumulated excess pore water, maintain effective stress and obviously reduce the possibility of surrounding soil liquefaction.

文摘The sediment in Chengbei area of the Huanghe (Yellow River) subaqueous delta is the object of a reseach project in this article. The accumulating and dissipating effects following the change of time are considered first in the study area and the distributing curves of excess pore water pressure along with time and depth in the soil stratum are gained; the possibility of silt liquefaction is evaluated using the computing values and the affecting depth of liquefaction is given. This paper quantitatively analyzes the dynamic response of seafloor soil under the cyclic loading of waves and makes an inquiry into the instable mechanism of soil.
文摘Laboratory tests on the large post-liquefaction deformation of saturated Nanjing fine sand were performed by using a hollow cylinder apparatus. However, the dissipation model of excess pore water pressure after liquefaction was only affected by the confining pressure.
