Atmospheric dielectric barrier discharges driven by repetitive unipolar narrow pulse excitation are investigated numerically by using one-dimensional fluid models. The one-dimensional simulation focuses on the effects of applied voltage amplitude, pulse repetition frequency, gap width andγcoefficient on the multiple-current-pulse(MCP)discharge.The results indicate that the MCP behavior will lead to the stratification of electron density distribution in axial direction.Traditional MCP manipulating methods, such as reducing the applied voltage amplitude, increasing the applied voltage frequency, adjusting the gap width, cannot regulate MCPs exhibiting in this work.Further analyses reveal that the increasing electric field of the cathode fall region is the basis for the emergence of MCP behavior. 展开更多

The complexation of Cd with cysteine has been investigated at pH ~9, and in constant ionic medium 0.59 M NaNO3 and borate buffer. Reduction signals of the hydrated Cd2+ and Cd-cysteinate complex were resolved on the potential scale during amperometric titration of 2 × 10-6 M Cd2+ with cysteine and cysteine with Cd2+, in a differential pulse (DP) mode on HMDE. The 1:1 molar ratio of Cd2+ to cysteine, and cysteine to Cd2+, was defined for Cd-cysteinate complex formed under the defined conditions. The appearance of the prepeak on the Cd-cysteinate reduction signal is showed, as the result of cysteine adsorption in reduced form. From the mass balance equations, the stoichiometric stability constants of Cd-cysteinate complex were calculated. Under various experimental conditions, comparable log K values were obtained. The grand average log K = 7.83 M-1 refers to 0.59 M ionic strength and 23℃. 展开更多

Pulse microwave excite thermoacoustic(TA)shockwave to destroy tumor cells in situ. This has promising applications for precise tumor therapy in deep tissue.Nanoparticle(NP)with high microwave-acoustic conversion is the key to enhance the efficiency of therapy. In this study,we firstly developed defect-rich titanium nitride nanoparticles(TiN NPs)for pulse microwave excited thermoacoustic(MTA)therapy.Due to a large number of local structural defects and charge carriers,TiN NPs exhibit excellent electromagnetic absorption through the dual mechanisms of dielectric loss and resistive loss. With pulsed microwave irradiation,it efficiently converts the microwave energy into shockwave via thermocavitation effect, achieving localized mechanical damage of mitochondria in the tumor cell and yielding a precise antitumor effect. In addition to the therapeutic function, the NP-mediated TA process also generates images that provide valuable information, including tumor size, shape, and location for treatment planning and monitoring. The experimental results showed that the TiN NPs could be efficiently accumulated in the tumor via intravenous infusion. With the deep tissue penetration characteristics of microwave, the proposed TiN-mediated MTA therapy effectively and precisely cures tumors in deep tissue without any detectable side effects. The results indicated that defect-rich TiN NPs are promising candidates for tumor therapy. 展开更多
