Traditional Chinese medicine Master XIONG Jibo’s medication experience in treating arthralgia syndrome through data mining

Objective This study aimed to examine and propagate the medication experience and group formula of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)Master XIONG Jibo in diagnosing and treat-ing arthralgia syndrome(AS)through data mining.Methods Data of outpatient cases of Professor XIONG Jibo were collected from January 1,2014 to December 31,2018,along with cases recorded in A Real Famous Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor:XIONG Jibo's Clinical Medical Record 1,which was published in December 2019.The five variables collected from the patients’data were TCM diagnostic information,TCM and western medicine diagnoses,syndrome,treatment,and prescription.A database was established for the collected data with Excel.Using the Python environment,a custom-ized modified natural language processing(NLP)model for the diagnosis and treatment of AS by Professor XIONG Jibo was established to preprocess the data and to analyze the word cloud.Frequency analysis,association rule analysis,cluster analysis,and visual analysis of AS cases were performed based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Computing Platform(V3.0)and RStudio(V4.0.3).Results A total of 610 medical records of Professor XIONG Jibo were collected from the case database.A total of 103 medical records were included after data screening criteria,which comprised 187 times(45 kinds)of prescriptions and 1506 times(125 kinds)of Chinese herbs.The main related meridians were the liver,spleen,and kidney meridians.The properties of Chinese herbs used most were mainly warm,flat,and cold,while the flavors of herbs were mainly bitter,pungent,and sweet.The main patterns of AS included the damp heat,phlegm stasis,and neck arthralgia.The most commonly used herbs for AS were Chuanniuxi(Cyathu-lae Radix),Huangbo(Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex),Cangzhu(Atractylodis Rhizoma),Qinjiao(Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix),Gancao(Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma),Huangqi(Astragali Radix),and Chuanxiong(Chuanxiong Rhizoma).The most common effect of the herbs was“promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis”,followed by“supple-menting deficiency(Qi supplementing,blood supplementing,and Yang supplementing)”,and“dispelling wind and dampness”.The data were analyzed with the support≥15%and con-fidence=100%,and after de-duplication,five second-order association rules,39 third-order association rules,39 fourth-order association rules,and two fifth-order association rules were identified.The top-ranking association rules of each were“Cangzhu(Atractylodis Rhizoma)→Huangbo(Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex)”“Cangzhu(Atractylodis Rhizoma)+Chuanniuxi(Cyathulae Radix)→Huangbo(Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex)”“Chuanniuxi(Cyathulae Radix)+Danggui(Angelicae Sinensis Radix)+Gancao(Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma)→Qinjiao(Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix)”and“Chuanniuxi(Cyathulae Radix)+Danggui(Angelicae Sinensis Radix)+Gancao(Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma)+Huangbo(Phello-dendri Chinensis Cortex)→Qinjiao(Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix)”,respectively.Five clusters were obtained using cluster analysis of the top 30 herbs.The herbs were mainly dry-ing dampness,supplementing Qi,and promoting blood circulation.The main prescriptions of AS were Ermiao San(二妙散),Gegen Jianghuang San(葛根姜黄散),and Huangqi Chongteng Yin(黄芪虫藤饮).The herbs of core prescription included Cangzhu(Atractylodis Rhizoma),Chuanniuxi(Cyathulae Radix),Gancao(Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma),Huangbo(Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex),Mugua(Chaenomelis Fructus),Qinjiao(Gentianae Macro-phyllae Radix),Danggui(Angelicae Sinensis Radix),and Yiyiren(Coicis Semen).Conclusion Clearing heat and dampness,relieving collaterals and pain,and invigorating Qi and blood are the most commonly used therapies for the treatment of AS by Professor XIONG Jibo.Additionally,customized NLP model could improve the efficiency of data mining in TCM.

Professor Zhao Quan-lin's experience in the diagnosis and treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus with acute gout

Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)is a common clinical endocrine and metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood sugar and insulin resistance.The onset of T2DM will affect the metabolic balance of the body,and uric acid metabolism is one of them.Hyperuricemia(HUA)is very common in type 2 diabetes.Based on HUA,gout is a crystal-related disease caused by urate deposition,and its clinical manifestations are complex and varied.Professor zhao quanlin has rich experience in clinical experience,and he has made good use of traditional Chinese medicine system to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus with gout in the acute phase of clinical effect.

Zhou Lamei's Experience in Treating Gout

Chief physician Zhou Lamei performs diagnosis and treatment according to syndrome differentiation,and proposes the method of combining internal treatment with external treatment of traditional Chinese medicine and paying attention to the adjustment of eating habits and lifestyle,which has certain advantages in relieving acute attack,reducing uric acid,reducing gout complications caused by disease development and reducing adverse reactions of western medicine,and is of great significance to the treatment of gout onset and hyperuricemia control.

Validity and reliability of the evaluation tool of TCM confidence in students with TCM learning experience

Objective:This study aimed to design an evaluation scale of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)confidence and then evaluate its validity and reliability.Methods:Three parallel samples with TCM learning experience were included in this current study.Randomly selected 500 nursing students were included factor analysis and reliability and validity analyses.After 4 weeks,200 nursing students were recruited to retest the reliability.The evaluation tool of TCM confidence included 6 dimensions and 25 entries.Results:Cronbach's a coefficient of the evaluation scale was 0.95 and that of the 6 observed aspects were higher than 0.90,and splithalf reliability was 0.81.For the retest reliability,Cronbach's a coefficient of the evaluation scale was 0.93 and that of the 6 examined aspects was all over 0.80.The index of content validity Scale Content Validity Index(S-CVI)was 0.92 and Item Content Validity Index(I-CVI)was 0.83–1.00.Conclusions:Observed results may indicate that the designed tool can be used to assess the TCM confidence level of students with TCM studied experience and also can evaluate results of TCM education during studying TCM lectures.

Ventricular premature beat,a kind of arrhythmia,is one of common diseases which not only decreases the quality of life but also has the danger of death.The pathogenesis in Traditional Chinese Medicine is that the injury of heart and kidney is the essence and the block of solid evil such as phlegm and blood stasis is the manifestation.The teacher,Li Yuan,has worked in clinic for decades and considered that the important pathogenesis of the VP beat is“heat transformed from Yang”,which cannot be ignored as it is on the influence of diverse factors and can be observed in different symptoms and different treatment states of the disease.

Experiences and Challenges of Clinical Research in Traditional Medicines

Thank you for your introduction,thank DIA inviting me to come to this conference.After knowing so many data,I am very happy to learn some details about traditional Chinese medicine (TCM),including China's efforts in TCM,and what has been done in Europe.I would like to tell you about some of the challenges of TCM from the perspective of the European Union (EU).Many of them are mentioned by previous speakers.In fact,there are ways to allow herbs to enter the European market.Traditional herbal products have been established.And there is a full market authorization.Traditionally,it is necessary to ensure their medicinal efficacy and safety.Clinical trials are not necessary for every circumstance,but 10 years of use history within the EU is necessary.This is the process of full marketing.The USA and Europe have a similar situation: 3 of the 4 phases are required before the marketing authorization.These are 3 examples: a newly developed drug in Europe,it is from gentian roots,primrose,sorrel and other drugs,mainly for rhinitis;this is from Switzerland,which is from an extract of coltsfoot flowers;Schwabe's is from lavender,used for anxiety,and this is its name in Australia.

Experiences and Challenges of Clinical Research in Traditional Medicines

Good afternoon,everyone.I'd like to acknowledge DIA for the invitation.I will spend next 25 minutes to briefly talk about the research in Australia and complementary medicine (CM) there.Most importantly,I'd like to introduce a case that I was involved in the last 10 years,which was about developing a new herbal medicine for vascular dementia (VaD).I would actually highlight the issues in it as well as the experience and lessons.

A Summary of Lei Genping's Experience in the Treatment of Chronic Nephritis

Chronic glomerulonephritis involves multiple organs.It has a variety of clinical manifestations and is the major cause of progression to end-stage renal disease in patients with kidney disease.Professor Lei Genping believes that the treatment of this disease in Chinese medicine should be based on the deficiency and reality characteristics of the disease mechanism,distinguishing the priorities and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the internal organs,as well as advocating the integration of Chinese and western medicine at the right time and in the right manner,in order to achieve fundamental results.

Summary of Zhang Hongxing's Experience in Treating Refractory Angina Pectoris with Traditional Chinese Medicine

As a famous traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)expert in Shandong province and a famous veteran TCM expert in Dezhou city,Zhang Hongxing has been engaged in cardiovascular clinical work for more than 30 years.He has unique experience in the treatment of refractory angina pectoris.This paper comprehensively explains from the aspects of etiology and pathogenesis.His treatment is mostly based on syndrome differentiation,combined with the basic pharmacology of modem Chinese medicine to formulate prescriptions and drugs,and at the same time values the use of insect drugs.We hereby attach the clinical records,hoping to provide reference for clinical workers,which is conducive to the inheritance and development of famous Chinese medical academic experience.

Irvine-Gass综合征是引起白内障术后视力下降、视物变形的最主要并发症,是白内障术后最不具有预测性的并发症之一,目前对其病因和治疗尚未达成统一的认识。谢立科主任对中西医结合治疗眼底病有丰富的临床经验,提出以健脾利湿为主,祛风清热、明目通络为辅治疗本病,取得较好疗效。本文将从发病部位、发病原因、临床表现、预防调护、典型病例等方面对其经验加以总结。

Stem cells:a promising candidate to treat neurological disorders

Neurologic impairments are usually irreversible as a result of limited regeneration in the central nervous system.Therefore,based on the regenerative capacity of stem cells,transplantation therapies of various stem cells have been tested in basic research and preclinical trials,and some have shown great prospects.This manuscript overviews the cellular and molecular characteristics of embryonic stem cells,induced pluripotent stem cells,neural stem cells,retinal stem/progenitor cells,mesenchymal stem/stromal cells,and their derivatives in vivo and in vitro as sources for regenerative therapy.These cells have all been considered as candidates to treat several major neurological disorders and diseases,owing to their self-renewal capacity,multi-directional differentiation,neurotrophic properties,and immune modulation effects.We also review representative basic research and recent clinical trials using stem cells for neurodegenerative diseases,including Parkinson＇s disease,Alzheimer＇s disease,and age-related macular degeneration,as well as traumatic brain injury and glioblastoma.In spite of a few unsuccessful cases,risks of tumorigenicity,and ethical concerns,most results of animal experiments and clinical trials demonstrate efficacious therapeutic effects of stem cells in the treatment of nervous system disease.In summary,these emerging findings in regenerative medicine are likely to contribute to breakthroughs in the treatment of neurological disorders.Thus,stem cells are a promising candidate for the treatment of nervous system diseases.

当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜汤对不孕症模型大鼠高迁移率族蛋白B1、自噬蛋白Beclin-1、免疫球蛋白G及炎症因子的影响

目的观察当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜汤对不孕症模型大鼠高迁移率族蛋白B1(HMGB1)、自噬蛋白Beclin-1、免疫球蛋白G(IgG)及炎症因子的影响。方法将60只Wistar大鼠按照随机数字表法分为4组,即空白组、模型组、枸橼酸氯米芬片组、当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜组,每组各15只。除空白组外,其余各组大鼠均制备不孕症模型。造模结束后第2天开始灌胃给药,枸橼酸氯米芬片组予枸橼酸氯米芬片(制备成0.83 mg/mL溶液,按照0.83 mg/100 g)灌胃治疗,每次2 mL,每日1次。当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜汤组予当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜汤浓缩药液灌胃,浓度0.5 g/mL,每次2 mL,每日1次。空白组、模型组予0.9%氯化钠注射液,每次2 mL,每日1次灌胃。各组大鼠均连续灌胃治疗15 d。末次给药24 h后,测量各组大鼠子宫内膜厚度;测定大鼠血清肿瘤坏死因子α(TNF-α)、白细胞介素1(IL-1)、干扰素γ(IFN-γ)、IgG含量;测定各组大鼠子宫内膜组织中HMGB1及自噬蛋白Beclin-1蛋白表达变化。结果空白组大鼠子宫组织细胞排列整齐,厚度均匀,间质正常,无(少)炎性浸润;模型组大鼠子宫组织间质水肿疏松,腺体稀少,细胞排列错乱;枸橼酸氯米芬片组大鼠炎症细胞减少,细胞水肿减少;当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜汤组大鼠炎症细胞减少,细胞排列整齐。模型组大鼠子宫内膜厚度低于空白组(P<0.05),枸橼酸氯米芬片组、当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜汤组大鼠子宫内膜厚度均高于模型组(P<0.05),当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜汤组大鼠子宫内膜厚度高于枸橼酸氯米芬片组(P<0.05)。模型组大鼠TNF-α、IL-1、IFN-γ、IgG含量均高于空白组(P<0.05),枸橼酸氯米芬片组、当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜汤组大鼠TNF-α、IL-1、IFN-γ、IgG含量均低于模型组(P<0.05),当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜汤组大鼠TNF-α、IL-1、IFN-γ、IgG含量低于枸橼酸氯米芬片组(P<0.05)。模型组大鼠HMGB1、自噬蛋白Beclin-1蛋白表达高于空白组(P<0.05),枸橼酸氯米芬片组、当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜汤组大鼠HMGB1、自噬蛋白Beclin-1蛋白表达均低于模型组(P<0.05),当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜汤组大鼠HMGB1、自噬蛋白Beclin-1蛋白表达低于枸橼酸氯米芬片组(P<0.05)。结论当归四逆加吴茱萸生姜汤可有效抑制不孕症模型大鼠体内炎症因子及免疫因子表达,这可能与其调控HMGB1及自噬蛋白Beclin-1蛋白表达有关。

Based on the theory of children's TCM constitution"children are Zhi yang wei chong,and Zhi yin wei zhang",combined with the etiology and pathogenesis of TCM in children with purpuric nephritis,Professor Zhang Jun uses The four methods of"Clearing heat,dampness,tonicity,and stasis"are used to treat children with purpuric nephritis,and it is advocated that the method of"resolving blood stasis"runs through the entire treatment process,and the clinical results are quite good.

海洋芽孢杆菌中Iturin A分离鉴定研究性实验教学探索

以一株海洋Bacillus sp.细菌为对象,进行天然药物化学研究性实验的教学探索。通过优化菌株发酵条件、改进文献提取分离纯化方案,高效率地分离纯化出目标产物Iturin A,并指导学生综合运用质谱,1HNMR结合文献调研鉴定产物结构。该实验合理使用制备高效液相色谱仪,液质联用仪、核磁共振仪等大型仪器设备,改进了传统天然药物化学实验内容,实现了学生实验中微量天然产物快速、高效、可视化的分离与纯化。实验有助于激发学生学习兴趣,使其全面深刻地认识微生物天然产物的科学研究流程,了解掌握不同大型仪器的应用范围和操作技术,提升操作技能和创新能力。

Novel Quantitative Approach for Predicting mRNA/Protein Counts in Living Cells

One of the most complex questions in quantitative biology is how to manage noise sources and the subsequent consequences for cell functions. Noise in genetic networks is inevitable, as chemical reactions are probabilistic and often, genes, mRNAs and proteins are present in variable numbers per cell. Previous research has focused on counting these numbers using experimental methods such as complex fluorescent techniques or theoretical methods by characterizing the probability distribution of mRNAs and proteins numbers in cells. In this work, we propose a modeling based approach;we build a mathematical model that is used to predict the number of mRNAs and proteins over time, and develop a computational method to extract the noise-related information in such a biological system. Our approach contributes to answering the question of how the number of mRNA and proteins change in living cells over time and how these changes induce noise. Moreover, we calculate the entropy of the system;this turns out to be important information for prediction which could allow us to understand how noise information is generated and expanded.

East to west:research progress in traditional Chinese medicine for antiaging strategies

Delaying the onset of aging is considered an important tool for dealing with the global crisis of the aging population.Accordingly,several antiaging studies have been conducted using strategies of modern medicine and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).In this review,we summarize the current state of antiaging research related to both modern medicine and TCM and provide suggestions for further research.Various theories related to the aging process have been proposed,including the free radical theory,mitochondrial DNA damage theory,telomere theory,cross-linking theory,and intestinal flora theory,and a number of antiaging chemical treatments have been developed using modern medicine.These theories and achievements have resulted in major advancements in antiaging research.TCM is based on practical experience and has a long history with unique advantages in antiaging research.Some antiaging practices such as moderate diet consumption,acupuncture,Tai Chi(a traditional Chinese martial art that can relax the nerves to slow down the aging process),and Wuqin Xi(a traditional Chinese exercise to strengthen the body)have been adopted to maintain health.Several TCMs and prescriptions,particularly those related to medicine food homology,have been used in antiaging treatment,and their antiaging properties have been demonstrated to be effective based on pharmacological experiments and clinical applications.

Advances in China Space Medical Experiment Research

In 2021,China Space Station(CSS)was assembled and constructed in-orbit,which provided a broad space platform for space medicine and space life sciences research.Space medicine focuses on the systematic risks that restrict long-term manned spaceflight.It carries out systematic research on the impact and countermeasure technology of long-term weightlessness on astronauts’health,space radiation on astronauts’health,behavior and ability,advanced on-orbit monitoring and medical disposal technology,and traditional space medical application technology by the space medicine experiment platform on human body and cell.It has accumulated valuable data on space environmental effects and human factors research,established a“human system risk”research system,obtained new knowledge and discoveries of space medicine,and explored countermeasure technologies of new characteristics.Moreover,a series of achievements have been made in the basic research on the mechanism of the special space environmental effect,which provides a solid foundation for the implementation of space missions.

Study on Antibacterial Effect of Single Chinese Herbs on Staphylococcus aureus

[Objectives] This study was conducted to determine in-vitro antibacterial effect of 58 Chinese herbs on Staphylococcus aureus,and screen single Chinese herbs with better in-vitro antibacterial effect for formulation of prescription. [Methods]Effective components in Chinese herbs were extracted with water,and inhibition zone diameters and minimal inhibitory concentrations of the 58 Chinese herbs against S. aureus were determined by agar plate punching method and micro two-fold method,respectively. [Results] Twenty two kinds of Chinese herbs including Terminalia chebula Retz.,Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge.,Prunella vulgaris L,Rheum palmatum L. and Mosla chinensis Maxim. had better antibacterial effect,among which T. chebula Retz.,A. asphodeloides Bunge.,P. vulgaris L,R. palmatum L. and C. sappan Linn showed the best antibacterial effect,with average inhibition zone over 20 mm and MIC lower than 15. 6 mg/ml.[Conclusions]Traditional Chinese herbs have certain antibacterial effect,and this study will provide important theoretical reference for clinical medication and development of prescription.

SPACE LIFE SCIENCE IN 2000-2001

Chinese scientists studied some of the problems in the field of space life science and achieved success in the area during 2000-2001. Space biological experi ments were carried out in the orbit and the results of ground studies on protein crystallization, space radiation, space motion sickness were introduced in this paper. The influences of simulated weightlessness on the brain-function, the car diovascular, endocrine hormones, immunity, skeletal and muscle systems were presented. In addition, gravity medicine and space environment medicine, as well as countermeasures to space deconditioning, such as the traditional Chinese medicine, were also reported.
